    Yes - I know. We have met many times before so he needn't have said it, so I wasn't going to say it back. He was trying his best, bless!

      Hello William. Was this scripted to be funny? I don't think Gino is that rude. He's clearly playing his role.

    I really like that William explains the differences between English dinner etiquette and French dinner etiquette. I'm currently living in France, and my future mother-in-law had already commented on my occasional English-type etiquette. I'm from the Netherlands myself. And fear that my parents thought my siblings and me a mixture of different types of etiquette.

    I am not certain if some bits were funny on purpose, but at times poor William dear looked like you wanted to politely bop Gino on the head. :)

      all of these segments are the same...a guest comes on to show the crew/viewing audience, and some twat cracks jokes the entire time instead of letting the guest carry on.

    It is very funny how table manners & the use of utensils vary from one country to the next. Very few Americans, Mexicans, or Canadians would eat with the fork turned down. One way or the other will certainly work. It's just silly customs. Good to be informed though. When I lived in Azerbaijan, they did not like to eat with utensils. They would throw them over their shoulder & eat with their fingers.

    Imagine getting invited to dinner and the man says "I'll just order a salad" that means I need to order the same?! Oh he'll no! You have the salad, I'll have the lobster. I strongly believe that you shouldn't invite someone out to dinner, especially to a fancy place if you are not financially prepared for your date to order an expensive item on the menu. Though that doesn't mean that you should purposely go out of your way to get an expensive meal out of the poor guy either. But just be prepared.

    • @debshallin2677
      @debshallin2677 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kay2be2mr I've always been told that when taken out to dinner, you may order low to moderately cost items off the menu in order to be polite. Having said this, I would think that being taken out to dinner by someone "who can afford it" would be a different story altogether.

    • @Rhyron
      @Rhyron 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      When I'm invited to dinner I usually try and get something on the same, or lesser, price point as the other person's meal, unless prompted otherwise (as William tried to say before being ignored).

    What a disaster.
    That man Gino was trying to be so funny, it came out rude and trying to overtake the entire scene.
    Not allowing the guest to actually do what he was invited to do.
    I hope William will not accept their invitation next time.

    Why are all these things 'not allowed' and how could anyone consider them 'rude' if you feel offended by someone trying to eat there way (which should be completely fine as they payed for it) then there has to be something wrong with you.
    This is how I see it, if you pay for your meal, then you should get to eat it normally not fkin play with it with 3 different knives and forks before even taking a bite.
    And lastly, why phones off?, what if you get a phone call about one of your close family members going into hospital or your wifes gone into labour because those two things are very important much more important than sitting at a table watching your food go cold whilst wasting your time playing around with 5 sets of knives and forks, therefore if you don't have your phone on so you can be notified about those events your screwed.
    My rant is FINALLY over, thank you for reading
