An incredible, must-see movie. Its like three movies in one. There's Paco, Cruz and Miklo, each with their own story. Damen Chapa (Miklo), to this day, still makes appearances as his character, Miklo. You can find him in bars signing autographs and taking pictures.
I met him in September 2022 when he came to my town. I had him sign a Blood in Blood Out inspired guitar I'm building. This year is the 30th anniversary of the movie and the agency is planning another meet and greet tour with more actors. I hope that it comes to my town too, but it seems a lot of the actors prefer to stay West of the Mississippi for their meet and greets.
I first saw this movie in 9th grade Spanish class . Our teacher let us watch it at the end of the year because one of the students asked. I guess she didnt know what it was and by the time she realized the bell had rung.
Jesse Borrego who played the artist had a booth at Traders village, a flea market in San Antonio where I had my shop, with the actual artist Adan Hernandez were signing Vatos Locos gang paraphenalia. Good movie, definetely a must watch.
This is a very popular film here in San Antonio, Texas. My step dad went to school with one of the main actors, same school I went to. My cousins and I still quote this film almost daily.
Very true, but the performance was AMAZING too. Lanny Flaherty really deserved more shots at bigger roles after this, many of the actors did but Big Al seemed so real in a film with actual cons as extras. Noticed him in "Signs" and something else small.
"Flirt on your own time Albert" best line in this movie..and there are a lot of good lines in this movie. "I don't want his porkchop, I want his liiiife"!
@@brutalreviewguy1976 In turn, güero (or “huero,” as educated folks began to write it) came to mean “sickly, pallid.” This secondary meaning became immortalized in the popular refrain, “Diome Dios un güevo y diómelo güero” or “God gave me an egg [= a child] and he gave it to me pallid.”May 31, 2019
I got to meet Damian Chappa "Miklo" in September of 2022 when he was doing a meet and greet tour that had a stop in my town. Nice guy really friendly and loves the fans The movie is posted on Yotube in 4K. There is one part towards the end when the sound drops out because of the song playing and copyright issues but it's only about a minute and you don't miss anything. Primm's Hood Cinema channel did a review of this movie and its hilarious. So are his reviews of other movies
Theres an interview with the Actor that played Popeye and he said that half of the inmates in the jail scenes were real inmates. During Miklos jntro to Jail the inmates in the cafeteria were really doing time.
Apart from the differences in culture and race portrayed by the various groups, there are layers of storytelling in this movie that go as far as the family's personal life and the outlook on systematic America. Miklo trying to prove his Mexican passion because he finds comfort in the culture as opposed to his experiences on his white side, which is all his fathers fault (a bigot white man). However watching the movie, each character's role becomes much bigger to where there's not really a "lead actor", the entire cast has very much input in the environment of this story.
I saw that movie in 1993 when I was 13. It's been one my favorites since. Almost up there with goodfellas. Well... maybe not that high up. It's up there though.
"Now for my brown brothers! Sorry no tortillas" 😂 And she makes a reasonable point at 5:08 I left a like so now Tasha has to fulfill her end of the bargain.
This is absolutely one of the most underrated movies of all time even though it has a large cult following It deserves to be respected right up there with goodfother reservoir dogs and other Crime masterpieces
Thanks guys. I've never heard of this movie but it looks good. It would be a nightmare living like that, with the ever present fear that if you do something as mundane as dropping the soap, it could all be over.
Realistically, Damian Chapa isn't even part Mexican. He's only part Irish, German and Swedish. There's a reason why when cast reunions happens, he's never invited. He got called out at the last reunion for not being a real halfblood.
You should show her the whole movie, It's about gangster life but it's not a gangster movie!! a lot of people miss the point, we should all unite, we are stronger together!!
“ there’s a ray of sunshine under all that darkness down there “ 😂 that always makes me crack up 😂

Does he dress up as Ken from "Street Fighter"? That would be cool, too!
No,@@HueyRocks23, he doesn't. He just does the Miklo character. LOL!!!
Makes Quentin Tarantino movies look like a bitch watching this movie.
