I'm a big proponent of Lord of the Rings Online, the amount of free content is staggering compared to other free-to-play MMOs and most everything can be done solo and the community has always been kind and helping, it's not uncommon to message in global asking for help and have people even way above your level just go out of their way to join you.
just got here, watched 30s of the video after reading what you said in a redit post...i like you already, i don't know you but i feel like you're the kindred spirit that actually has the answers i've been looking for.
don't spoil it, but i've been avoiding gw2 cuz i was late to play it with friends and when i was ready they said it was meh and they're done with it. but i feel like the answer is gw2 like i felt it was years ago...again, no spoilers please
Old School RuneScape is great because you can choose to invest 10 minutes or 10 months going at something. Also has full mobile apps on iPhone/iPad/Android if you're on a bus or waiting in a line somewhere out in public. same account syncs all your progress and there's a free to play mode.
I think this is a good selection for the first round. For the next round there might be some new titles, and depending on which games that are not "traditional MMOs" would also fit into this series there is already a lot to pick from. Titles coming to my mind: = Coming up = - Throne and Liberty - Blue Protocol = Still pretty new = - New World - Lost Ark = just as counterpart to SW:ToR (sci-fi instead of fantasy) = - Star Trek Online - Eve Online = speaking of a different theme: Superhero themed MMORPGs = - DC Universe Online - Champions Online = Scary PvP Focus? = - Black Desert Online - Albion Online - Mortal Online 2 = Other oldies that once were popular = - Rift - Arch Age - Everquest (1 & 2) - Neverwinter - Dungeons & Dragons Online = a bit atypical for MMORPGs, but close enough = - Warframe - Destiny 2 Coincidentally I came up with 7 categories. I promise, this was not on prupose.
Oh bless you, this is a terrific list! I knew about most of these, but there are a few I'd forgotten about. I was considering doing Star Trek Online instead of Runescape, but decided to save that for the next one. I appreciate how you labeled Warframe and Destiny 2 as MMORPG-Adjacent. Destiny 2 has a pretty good chance of being included in the future.
Perfect World is what u looking for. U got stat poin every level up. So u can build whatever u like for ex. Tank with high intelligence means it can tank magic damage easily
I enjoyed anarchy online on pc as a kid then, dcuo on the ps3, eso on ps4 and now new world on the steamdeck. As long as i have a world to explore and fun combat i'm good :)
ah~ I see, I was wondering why you still haven't touched EoD yet bc I was really curious about your thoughts about the story, especially the living world season 3, PoF, living world season 4, Icebrood saga and EoD. Now I understand. I would like to share an idea that exist in my head for a while but I am not sure if it is doable. First of all, have you heard about the phylogeny tree or evolution tree? It is a diagram that represents evolutionary relationships among organisms(yeah I copy this line from google lmao). However, as long as you can digitize those features of games, then you can start to be able to cluster them as well as divide them into different groups according to those features, then you would have a tree that tells all the relative relationships among all games. It is interesting to me but what I played are too few... so I'm not the right person to do so lol I was also wondering... base on the same idea, if there is any website/database can help ppl find their dream game by fltering features of a player apply? That would be useful too
@@kyleblaneplays ah it's ok. I couldn't express well so it is fine to ignore it lmao Tbh, I personally didn't have any interest in the core game story until I finished the living world season 4. After HoT, LW1&2, everything about the story and voice acting got huge improvement, and EoD so far is my favorite. Some ppl still think living world season 4 is the best bc of the epicness, but I prefer intimacy more ;p I can see you laugh non stop while doing EoD in the future (well... from living world season 3, you would hear many funny dialogues) lol PS. I haven't played FF14 but according to streamers who play both FF14 and Gw2, FF14's story is still much stronger even counting EoD's story in comparison. However, Gw2's gameplay style might add a lil bit more advantage on itself that makes streamers won't really place FF14 over GW2 completely ;3
I played Guild Wars 1 at launch, and look forward to playing through it again at some point. Possibly as a part of this series. I have many fond memories of it.
I will absolutely be following this. Thank you for doing it. I am also a casual player, and for now my favourite is LOTRO. For some reason (and I'm honestly not quite sure why), for a long while I was pretty happy with Rift. Maybe I just liked the aesthetics of it.
lol, nah you're good. I just hadn't made it that far to think you might be talking about that one. That is Taimi's Theme! :D th-cam.com/video/RaEOGp--Z2Y/w-d-xo.html
I genuinely mean this in the kindest way possible. Please take this feedback and consider reevaluating your advertising methods. This is the creepiest and most awkward way you could advertise your game to me. If you hadn’t also commented on my Reddit post, I would have just ignored this comment thinking you were making a joke, referencing a new meme the kids use these days. Best case scenario, I see your username and figure out you are a developer. But by making me do the work to figure out what your comment means, I’m left annoyed and uninterested. Worst case scenario, I ignore you and move on. Either way, I’m not checking out your game because of it.
@@kyleblaneplays wow, you’re so unnecessarily rude and cocky! immediately turned off from your content. it costs nothing to be kind, but apparently you live on reddit so why am i surprised?
This is the comment I'm expecting when that video releases. lol Honestly, I did a lot of research and decided there's no good reason for me to not use the newer version.

I'm really excited about it. I know the community is SUPER passionate about it and that's always a very positive sign.
Too bad the servers are dog water.
You walk into a new zone and get Chinese levels of desync.

This should be a fun series to watch.
I'm looking forward to you proving that GW2 is the best MMO ever for everything period

looking forward to this series, glad a caught it now so i can binge a few
Happy binging! :D
I am obviously biased towards guild wars 2 but I can't wait to see what the consensus is on the six months down the line
Most mmorpg are built in Stats & Skill based; but I'm looking forward to manually or adjustment the stats, which is depend on class base.
100% agree, the more I can customize my abilities, the better.
Perfect World is what u looking for. U got stat poin every level up. So u can build whatever u like for ex. Tank with high intelligence means it can tank magic damage easily
Can't wait for Kyle's casualness to make him abandon this idea halfway through TESO.
LOL Now I'm just going to keep going to prove you wrong!
Wish u of added FF XI in this as well. With the quality of life they have now u get a lot for a little for casual play
I’ll add it to my list for the next round!
I wanted to come back swtor but after I saw that quick travel costs money now I gave swtor a big no no

The only MMO I've ever touched was Elder Scrolls Online, but I'm pretty interested in hearing what you have to say about FF14.
Maybe I just want to see the world burn, but... Try Eve Online!
Oh heavens... that may be the one that does me in for good. HAHAHA

Swtor is the best casual mmorpg i seen
Why not include New World? I´ve been playing it casualty for years without almost none frustration.
New World is a part of the series, just not in the first wave of games.
You should measure deaths maybe?
i'll add that to mine
I may actually just evaluate how each game handles death. How much of a time-loss is it at any given moment. Something like that.
what is the song at the start i remember it but cant put my finger on where it is from ?
lol, are you talking about the song that plays for a second and then stops?
That’s Time by Hootie and the Blowfish.
@@kyleblaneplays no i meant the one that plays druing the long section where you explain your reasoning. also gw2 was the right choice :D
Oh! Are you talking about in the final, conclusion video? That’s the OG Guild Wars 2 theme. If you search for the soundtrack it’ll be the first song.
