  • How to edge polish marble step by step, using the Parkside cordless angle grinder and silica carbide paper discs (for a great range try here amzn.to/31plcWy) A useful skill for tradesmen, and DIY handymen.
    You will need a marble polishing machine, the Parkside tool is great for the occasional crafts project or edge polishing marble or stone tiles for instance.
    Using the paper carbide discs you will be dry polishing and so creating dust, if thid will be the case try to work out doors and WEAR A GOOD MASK!
    If you are a professional marble installer or intend to pursue marble crafting as a hobby I strongly suggest you set up a water feed for your machines.

    Thanks so much! Based on your advice managed to get an OK edge on a scrap piece of marble I found, using an oscillating multitool and working through the grits (I don't have a buffing wheel, so I hand-sanded some higher grits and hand-polished with a rag + green polishing compound). My cheese board looks a lot better now

      It will work on any marble, some types may take longer or require a more careful approach, Cheers!

    Thank you very much. Just what I needed to make the bases for my sculptures. Can you use a basic angle grinder without speed regulator for this job?

      Hi, not really , anglegrinders are too fast for polishing. Best to buy a sander/polisher. Best of luck!

    Great video! What disc would you suggest to cut marble? Thank you.

      Any reasonable quality diamond disc, carbo discs don't work well. if cutting dry I find turbo types the best. If cutting wet continuous rim cut with the least chipping but all types work ok. Best of luck.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Several years ago I read about someone working marble edges using carbide router bits normally used for woodworking. Once they experimented to be able to perform this without the marble chipping they achieved good results. There is nothing related on TH-cam that I can find. I have a large piece of marble that I want to make into a bathroom sink vanity top, with fancy edge work. Do you have any thoughts on using carbide woodworking bits for this? I would also need to be sawing the marble as well. Thank you.

      My view is that carbide router tools are not as good as diamond, Whether you can rout a marble with carbide will depend on how hard it is, most marbles will be too hard. By all means give it a try, you might get a better chance of success by taking off as much of the waste material as possible with a grinder disc before using the router. Good luck with this and please let me know how you get on.

      @@thestonecraftingworkshop7490 Thanks for the reply. I am looking into diamond bits. I will let you know how it works out but this is a long ways off.

    Not sure if this is relevant but we have damaged a worktop in our kitchen with a hot pan it has left a ring burnt into the top. The worktop is man made and is called quartz I think, do you know if this method will repair the worktop so it cannot be seen? Great video by the way, thank you!

      Hi, sorry I have never worked with this material so I have no bright ideas. Can you contact the manufacturer? Best of luck.

    Is it possible to use and angle grinder to repolish 10mm thick marble tiles? Do you recommend any polishing wheels? Thanks.

      @thestonecraftingworkshop7490  ปีที่แล้ว

      Angle grinders work too fast for polishing, this will only work if the machine has a variable speed and most do not. You need speeds of 3000rpm or less. Sorry.

      Hi, speed is the other ingredient you need a power tool, hand polishing is really not easy. Also carbide or emery paper would be better. It also depends on the area size you are trying to polish, edges are doable but not facework. All credit to you for trying Best of luck!

    Is that a grinder 11,000 rpm or a polisher/sander 3,000 to 6,000 rpm? I can't figure out witch one to buy

    • @thestonecraftingworkshop7490
      @thestonecraftingworkshop7490  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the only tools that i know cross the speed gap between anglegrinder and polisher is either the parkside cordless anglegrinder and the Ferrex corded anglegrinder. Both have a speed control that allows them to be used as a polisher/cutter. The only downside to these is they are very much budget machines. if you come across another anglegrinder with speed control please let us know, all the best! PS I have and like both these machines and have done video reviews.

    so i guess for an already polish floor it just needs 400 to renew it

    • @thestonecraftingworkshop7490
      @thestonecraftingworkshop7490  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably not, a hand polisher like this is really for smallish jobs, the disc will quickly pick up dirt from the surface and stop working. Depending on the size of floor you will probably need a commercial floor polisher. Best of luck!
