question , every other video i have watched on this issue , they only turn screw 1/4 turn, as it can lead to being too tight on hard lock and damage. You turned yours about 10 full turns ??,Thanks
no joke, i said it on facebook and ill say it again. you're a bloody legend not even ford could help me with this issue, i had taken it to tyre shops with the same result. very hard to find this solution on the internet so I applaud you for helping me :)
You are an absolute legend. I have been fighting this very same issue for 2 years I will be fixing this on the weekend. Thanks so much for making a vid to explain. 👍
Great thanks what Year, model manual or automatic and diesel ?? thanks. And you went to all the "experts" ??? Sickening isn't it now a days..they are becoming rip off merchants
hi more positive caster by 1/2 degree [car will wander way way less] both sides and adjust steering box . These boxes are crap from factory and Ford will never fix under warranty .Although they are very very sloppy for a steering box . There were a few failures under warranty PkPj Bt50. My 60yo Holden has a better box than these sloppy units .
My 2008 Ranger 2.5 TDCi is a little unsettled at the front so I’m going to check for play tomorrow. 👍🇬🇧I was just about to buy new shocks but you might have just saved me . 👍
cheers mate, I bought one of these at auction for $2600 with 359000 on the clock, spent a bit of money and time sorting out the driveline and clutch but have been ignoring this issue since I got it, will get it sorted now!
Legend, agreed, even my workshop manual does not mention anything about steering box adjustment, I have just adjusted mine and the wobble is gone, saved me a lot of cash in the process, thanks
Physically can't believe that many services didn't know it was the steering box. It's very well known by ANYONE in the mechanic world, that float or play usually comes from the steering box. Sounds like all of them need to find a new profession. Good vid anyway mate.
Been struggling with this for years. Just recently replaced both control arms after 2600 Australian dollars still the same problem. Not to mention the numerous tyre and wheel alignments. Plus upgrade to old man emu suspension. Will try this tomorrow and give feedback.

Hey mate do you know if it’s the same sorta setup on the 3.2 2015 px1?
LOL 11:57 "Broke a Nail" 😅🤣😅😃
I was more concerned with scratching the screen of your apple 🍎 watch 😲😲
XC falcon back in the day alot easier access 😊
Great thanks what Year, model manual or automatic and diesel ?? thanks. And you went to all the "experts" ??? Sickening isn't it now a days..they are becoming rip off merchants
2010 Ford ranger (PK) 3.0 [WEAT] turbocharged diesel engine mate
Already tried that to no effect
Thank you I have been chasing the same problem, now I can fix it myself. have a good Christmas I will now.
Thank you man, i done mine yesterday 🤗 129k miles and it never been touched over there. You a start 😊 Ford Ranger 2008 2.5 tdci
worked well. Hardest part was loosening the bolts on the battery bracket
I agree, those bolts were a pain.
Same. I sliced my finger open when one finally gave and my hand went flying on the end of the wrench into a sharp edge of a bracket haha!
Really made a difference. Can't get over how much easier it is to tow my caravan.
Bloody legend
Thanks you so much! Only your video help decide my problem!
Great video mate. Im about to do it on my pk ranger.

Thank you fella. My son has the same model and year. His steering was like yours and I’m now going to fix the problem for him. Cheers mate👍.
Leave it to Ford to put something on and build the rest of the truck around it.
Legend, agreed, even my workshop manual does not mention anything about steering box adjustment, I have just adjusted mine and the wobble is gone, saved me a lot of cash in the process, thanks

Mate you are a bloody legend, just did it and it fixed it instantly👌
This is one of the solutions there are many that can cause this, mine was the idler arm that was worn.
You are a legend !!!!
Thank you so much, no mechanic could give me a fix
How often do you have to do this? Will it get back loose after a while?
Thanks men it’s very helpful for me !
I have had the same issue and spent hundreds in Geelong, you are a champion!

Good vid anyway mate.
"Float", "Play", or "Lash" as I like to call it.
I'm going to investigate to see how much "Lash" I have in my steering right now. 😀

Mines not great - 3.0 3” exhaust , Long range tank, custom tuned , steel tray - bullbar - side steps 10-11 ltr/ 100km
Been struggling with this for years. Just recently replaced both control arms after 2600 Australian dollars still the same problem. Not to mention the numerous tyre and wheel alignments. Plus upgrade to old man emu suspension. Will try this tomorrow and give feedback.
