Same. And it’s well deserved. He was why got me into mma. Because he kept fighting past his prime a lot of fans tried to diminish his legacy. That did my head in. Now after his last two boxing fights everyone’s on his nuts again and I like that haha

Same here guys. I am from Brazil and my dad used to talk about him a lot and when I watched Anderson front kick Vitor in the face I became instantly a fan of him and the sport. That moment was very important, It was a big step for the popularity of UFC and MMA in Brazil. I would watch all his fights non stop.. After the Uriah Hall fight I couldn't get my head around the fact the he would be gone from the sport, because no other had impacted me so much as a fan. The morning after that night I walked to me job in tears all the time, lol. I'm glad he's now in Boxing and getting more recognition from the boxing public.

Part of the reason he was undefeated for nine years is because he was the cash cow and hero in Russia. It's the same as boxers who go 106-6, (Julio Cesar Chavez) because he was a hero in Mexico and they weren't giving him anyone that could beat him. I dont know how he mentions anderson silva (even thou i see him as a phenomenal fighter too) but is a steroid user. GSP is a legend too, but Fedor fought everyone. The GOAT has to be a heavyweight especially with his size. He was the Mike Tyson of MMA.

The only time he fought people who were at their peak and at UFC levels, he lost 3 fights in a row. Werdum and Henderson maybe would have been top 5 in the UFC at the time they fought Fedor, and both beat him handily. Stop parroting that same tune and learn how business works, fighters now make 20 times what they did in the 90s and in 10 years they will be making 10 times what they make now.

    8. KO'd #2 ranked Bellator HW Tim Johnson in under 2 minutes at the age of 45.
    9. Humble in victory and defeat.
    10. The GOAT according to DC, Uncle Chael, GSP, Hendo, Coleman, Frye, Penn, Rogan, Rutten, Big Nog, CroCop, Barnett, Couture, Werdum.
Go watch his run in Pride on Fight Pass and you'll see why he's so admired and respected among fighters and fans. He fought the very best of his era in their prime (Pride had a better roster between 2000-2006). He also fought a few cans but he beat the fuckin' piss out of them. Never a boring fight. Always humble in victory and defeat.

1 thing matters: competition beaten. Doesn't matter what you're records are or how many titles you win if you do it by fighting cans

Very impressive stat line, but the vast majority of his victories were in Japan and many in Pride, which was notorious for having drug loopholes, fixed fights and a bunch of other nonsense going on. I'm NOT delegitimizing his victories and competition in Japan, but what I am saying is when he started to really get pushed to the limit by competition in the U.S., that's when he fell off. This is what happened to many great fighters that excelled in Japan that came over to the U.S., they were not the same fighter. Either way, he still must be included in the conversation of greatest MMA fighters, no doubt.
