This is not a battlefield weapon. It is a deep-conceal get-out-of-my-face tool, which now leads the pack in this category. I have a LCP Max, which I can't replace soon enough.
I just tested mine today. It is very good, and yes, somehow, they reduced recoil. It is very nice. As other reviewers have noted, the springs in the mags are very stiff. I will do as one reviewer dis, and load the mags and let them rest for a week. As for the firearm, it shoots really nice. Really.
I have the Max and don't trust it. Too many feed issues. I've cleaned and lubed it well and tried about 8 types of ammo. Rarely get through an entire mag without a hiccup.
At times I carry a Kahr CT380. Very small pistol with a 7+1 capacity. It shoots about as good as they get for a small pistol. At the range last t week and the gun broke a striker/firing pin. Thankfully It was a range session, and not a self defense situation. Im going to take a serious look at this S&W Great review as always. Thanks for posting it. 🤙🏻
@@Iceberg82 I might be willing to pay for a replacement front sight with a large bright green ring around the Tritium dot. Or at least a yellow ring sight if green isn't available.
Me too. I have a manual safety Shield gen 1. The safety is easy to thumb sweep off. Lots of negative feedback on the safety being too tight but it softens up with use. I would be backing off going pocket carry with that trigger without a safety.
@@timburton9514 Hi Tim. Mine is coming in a few days. I have a the SW Shield Gen 1 9mm with safety and it really wasn't stiff. It's tight but the way it should be. I can flick it down with my thumb with no issue, especially now with 1000+ rounds thru it.. When I get my BF 2.0 I will let you know. Regardless I expect it to be stiff but still able to flick it down to unlock it. Maybe a drop of lube could help? Maybe?
I'm really glad you mentioned some of the sights were off. I thought it was just my big meat hooks crushing the gun. Measured my front and rear sights with a micrometer, and the front sight was way off. Put it in my sight pusher and straightened it out. Thanks again.
As always, sorry I don't remember the name of the knowledgeable gentlemen in the video, excellent explanation, clear instructions and sounds like honest opinion. It is great to watch his videos. Thanks.
I've owned 3-380 handguns. A Taurus TCP, Bersa thunder and the bodyguard 2.0. I still have and still like the Bersa. The TCP was the most uncomfortable and mostly unreliable one but the bodyguard is definitely my favorite.
Went to the pew pew store today and saw the Bodyguard and Shield Plus. Held both in my hand and they both feel great. I like the trigger on the Plus a lot more than the Bodyguard. The Plus also looks huge next to the Bodyguard. Honestly I want both, but may go with the Bodyguard.
That was a very good and thorough review. Thanks! If you are impressed, I am impressed. Several viewers below compared it to the Walther PPK, which is about a 100 year old design. Maybe comparing the PPK to this Bodyguard 2.0 is called for in a future video.
The only downside to the pistol, and that may not be an issue with today's ammo offerings, is the barrel is borderline too short for effective HP performance. Thankfully there are some very good .380 bullet designs now. I've shot the LCP into the most forgiving test media, water (at 3', approx 1m for you metric folk), with zero expansion. The Shield EZ into the same media with good results. Length matters. I suspect even the best performing bullets will lose performance at ranges past 7yds in these carry guns, but they will still poke holes in bad guys.
Waiting for mine to arrive. Only had the one with the safety, but I can leave that off. The low bore axis, coupled with the high groove on the back of the trigger guard is going to lend itself to superior accuracy over other .380 micros. I'll let you know when I get it. My current EDC/Back-up is the much-maligned Taurus Spectrum. I've had zero issues with it that weren't ammo related. Still, wanted more capacity for my EDC/Back-up. Gen5 Glock-17 with Holosun and TRL-1 for primary on duty.
This is a, “This guy has a knife in his hand staring at me.” kind of gun. Where when the time comes for personal protection and my 9mm are locked up in the safe at home, I feel relief I have by Bodyguard 2.0. In my pocket holster.
@@bld9696 from all the YT videos this BG2.0 looks great, now the only thing that is a concern is the 2.5 lb trigger pull, so I would get this with a manual safety which is something I don’t prefer on my carry weapon, so for the time being I’ll stay with my LCP max, close to 900 rounds no issues with any type of ammo. The trigger weight on the BG2.0 was mentioned in a video don’t know exactly if it’s accurate.
Great review Sir. Much love & Respect. Hey we are all here to learn from one another. I have noticed that anytime a new gun comes out we always jump on the van wagon and talk like these new guns are better than every other guns. I am not complaining about this gun at all, but I am not going crazy either for it. I may add it to my collection maybe later. I think the Smith and Wesson M&P shield 380 EZ are better guns to me. Funny, but this is the second video review I've seen of a newer S&W semiauto that mentions the sights not being properly aligned at the factory. I recently purchased two Shield Pluses, and the sights on BOTH were misaligned, causing both guns to shoot left. (And no, it wasn't me; it was the gun.) I had to get a sight pusher to move the front sight. I'm wondering if it's a factory issue, albeit minor, with these guns.🤔
Great video as always, Allen. I am seriously considering stopping by and seeing what you guys will give for a trade for my original Bodyguard, I would like to upgrade to this one.
Excellent review.👍 I picked up one of these little pistols a few weeks ago and the only thing I noticed, and so far, no one is making a point of... Kudo's to S&W for using a steel guide rod on a defensive pistol.👊 One of my biggest complaints I have against gun manufacturers, why are you putting a polymer guide rod in a defensive pistol.🤷♂ I have an FN Reflex that I love, but I have to mount a weapons light on it because it has a polymer guide rod. If I am close to an attacker and I need to shove the pistol in their chest to get them off of me, I want the gun to go bang. And let's be honest, that is this pistols intended purpose, up close and personal.👍

I see people say their conceal is a full size Glock 19, yeah while small, unless it is winter time and you are wearing a ton of stuff, not so much. .380 is fine, yes 9mm is better, but even the smallest 9mm I have seen is still kind of big for conceal. If you need to god forbid use your .380, even a .22 will scatter bad people trying to harm you. If the .380 is so weak, ask for volunteers who wants to test that theory....nobody will say yes.

It's a high-capacity derringer. Would have been nice if they put more than 1.75-inch barrel. Marketing will tell you it's 2.75 but chamber is not barrel. The .380 cartridge is .984 of an inch. Chamber does nothing for velocity or accuracy. It's a larger grip on a tiny gun. It's completely given up 100 fps in an already small caliber. How about chronograph results between the G42 or the 2-inch snub nose .38 revolver. S&W is about cutting cost, not saving your life. Marketing chamber as barrel needs to stop.
