“Pocket fighting pistol” That’s a new term but there isn’t a pistol out there that would define it better than the S&W Bodyguard 2.0
I agree with the term, the Ruger LCP max is a pocket “get off me gun” with a larger capacity. This is a “Pocket Fighting Pistol.”
@@lordkiki347I will second that( third?)
I have had mine for about 2 weeks. Already put 400 rounds through it.....never thought it would be that good.
Such a homerun by SW! As you say, totally different gun than the OG. Love it.
Good video. I like the wide u rear sight on my 2.0, it’s designed for CQC , not target shooting. This is my pocket gun now.
Just picked mine up. Threw it off my boat though
Sounds like there could be a fun story here........
Lead sinkers from the bait shop are cheaper when you are fishing for flounder.
Ain't NOTHING wrong with the original Bodyguard 380, it was NEVER intended to be an all day range gun but as a "get outta my face" belly gun.... Jack Ruby would have loved this belly gun....😅
Love mine. Carry it in a Muddy River Tactical IWB holster or a PJ pocket holster. Makes mg Shield Plus feel huge. In low threat environments 23 rounds of 380 isnt bad. Won't replace my Shield Plus but its a fantastic pocket fighting gun
It appears S&W has a homerun with this.
Im a fan on the BG 2.0. ive had the 9mm Shield for years and have carried that in the summer and have had to be extremely selective with clothing, really annoying. The BG 2 with the desantis pocket holster is fantastic, literally looks like a wallet in my front pocket with fancy shorts not even baggy shorts. It completely disappears. Also the flush mag with the shield is harder to hang on to than the BG2.0 with the flush mag. Can get all 3 fingers on the BG where the shield 9 its like 2 and 1/8 fingers. Its really hard to visualize the size until you hold this thing, it absolutely fits like an extension of your hand. Also the trigger is really light so in the situation of carrying in a soft pocket holster like the desantis or sticky holster in condition 0 consider the safety version, Murphy's Law and what not.
Me: wow! The bodyguard 2.0 looks so awesome as a first gun. Also me after I watch videos comparing .380 ACP to 9mm: well... I don't know.
😂 i get that but nobody likes being shot in the face with any caliber. 🤷♂️ it is my first 380 but man for a “get off me fool” gun it’s pretty perfect..
Thanks much for intro to a considered purchase
Great video, and absolutely accurate info, as I too went and bought one just today!!
Outstanding review, amigo! I have the old BG and although it has never malfunctioned in 10 years snd hundreds of rounds, it is a b--h to get on target and has suboptimal ergonomics and aesthetics. I gotta check out this sweet machine soon. Wonder though if Sig or Glock has one coming out around the corner. Hmmm.
Bravo S&W. Bravo. 👏🏻
I like the CTC laser on my Sig365 for the same reasons. ( don't get the Sig laser, it may look better but I wore the activation button off 2 of them)
I bought the original in 2016. It was my first civilian pistol. It looks like this new version addresses all the shortcomings of my first one. I wear 2XL gloves so it was way too small to enjoy at the range.
Great review thank you
If I had a bunch of these guns I could see myself losing it all in a fiery boating accident. 😂😂
I stop the gardening. Too easy to lose them I don’t have a metal detector
Great video!
Got one on order from my local gun shop.
Good review
Pocket fighting pistol? I would like to agree in principle. From most of the video reviews I have seen so far, I have a concern about shot placement spread (accuracy) at 5-7 yards. It seems to be a bit all over the place.
Maybe the rear sight notch is too large? I am not sure. Usage of small personal defense pistols like the BG2.0 will most likely be in CQB situations with instinctive point shooting.
Until shot placement proves to be more controllable for the average shooter at this distance, I would still consider this a higher capacity, “get off of me” pistol.
Overall, it is an excellent design. I can’t wait to get my hands on one.
Take your wife or lady friend with you. You will be buying two. I have a large hand and I love it. With the flush mag Putting the pinky finger under it is really comfortable in securing the shot. This isn’t a target pistol it’s a personal protection gun. Center mass head chest going you won’t have a bit of problem. Trading something you haven’t shot in a long while and that’ll make the wife even happier
Looks good. Shield plus for me.
ive never shot a gun, would this be a good option as a first timer?
If you have less hand strength it might be a bit hard to rack the slide and load the magazine, but assuming that isn't a problem for you then it would be great as a first gun. Many people consider the .380 ACP round to be the lowest acceptable power for a self-defense gun so just practice a lot so you hit the target's vitals.
Just be careful when shooting these mouse guns with regard to the muzzle and your hands and fingers. Also the new bodyguard is striker fired so it's even more important than ever to secure that trigger in something that can't be compromised easily .
No laser keeps the price down too apparently, I see they're about $380 ... reasonable.
If I am going to step it up, I go full-sized. As well, still like my crimson laser option.
(pro tip, crimson trace will send you free batteries for life for your crimson laser)
Nice they redid the bodyguard, but I'm not scrambling for the credit card.
I love the bodyguard 2.0 but I hate the magazines. They're really stiff and difficult to seat when full. After I ran a full mag using the 12 round, I was no longer able to add more then 2 rounds to it and then the follower popped out. Sending it back to S&W. The gun it's self is great and replacing my LCP Max.
@danfaulkner: Those magazine problems seem to be a real thing for S&W in recent years. I have a Shield 9mm Performance Center 4” using 10, 13 and 15 round magazines. They all need 1 or 2 less in loading the magazines unless you dremel some lower surfaces on the bottom of the magazine follower.
Haha mine is the same way. Also got the s&w 5.7 and theyve sent me 4 of those mags hahaha guns are great but their mags have gone down hill quality wise
Great review by the way.
good video, obx lead in- just good info.
This guy is way too picky!!! The gun is amazing!!!
I heard it's not optics ready. But, does that mean you can't add a different site or optics on your own?
Do you have any MagGuts for the BG 380in stock at your shop I need 3 to 4 for my mags.
Skip to 6 minutes to see him actually start the review of this gun and not just talking about the older model.
Does this have "double strike capability" like the original...??
No.
Thank you...@@vlogfriendsutopia
Once they add a WML for it, then it will be for sure. My LCP Max has the CT LTG-778 or whatever. I'd like to see a Streamlight light for the BG2.0
How much are they?
Claims to be a S&W fan…never once mentions the M&P Shield…like it 7:47 never existed 🤦🏻♂️
Well,the shield is 9mm and .40 S&W soooooooo...
Looks good but S&W botched the rollout. None available anywhere in Ohio. A few here and there across the country only. Release videos when stock is ready S&W. 😐
Had a chance to buy one at Vance Outdoors but waited a couple days after they were showing in stock at all their stores and then they were all sold out. Now waiting for them to get more .. it's a hot seller for sure
Cabela’s doesn’t have any and you can’t order one {yet}❗️. Guy behind the pistol counter couldn’t (or wouldn’t) even venture a guess as to how long it will be before they’re available. I threw out ‘two months’ and he just kinda shrugged his shoulders as if it’d likely be longer than that. I guess the good times are rolling at S&W!
I certainly understand creating excitement from a marketing standpoint, but they failed to back it up with product. That leads to frustration. I'm sure they will sell plenty so they could care less.
@@makertime6296 Exactly - perfect summation! Seems like its apparent market place success has completely caught S&W off guard. I think they could start running a three shift operation around just producing this model (if they haven’t already done so) and it would still take them months to catch up.
Cross the border to the winter wonderland. Detroit area readily available
You mean there is no place for a bipod or a scope.
Hey did you have issues with the slide not going all the way back without a mag inserted. I did went on Reddit people had the same issue and I had to rack the hell out of it to get the problem to go away.
Mag springs are really tight out off the box leave your mag full for a day or two and the problem should go away
Is this video about the newer BG 2.0 or the older POS BG V1. My god get on with it. Everyone knows the BG V1 is a Piece of SHIT firearm.
The trigger is way too light for a pocket gun! S&W should bring back the DA trigger of the 1.0 and add double-stack capacity!!!
The TS model has a safety 👍
@@johnniehall3692 - Yes, but I'd much rather have a heavy DA trigger than a safety that I have to disengage in a stressful self-defense scenario.
Pocket holster
@@TADDs101 - Even with a pocket holster, I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying a round in the chamber with a light 2 pound trigger.
@@texasdude7244 its a 4 pound trigger
I want one but I can't seem to find a store with any in stock...
We sell out as soon as we get them! Hope to get a bigger restock soon.
