As an Australia, I can clear some stuff up for you...
The Maloo at 5:31 is the regular Maloo, based on the Clubsport R8 LSA. Its official name is the Maloo R8 LSA. It was the only Maloo in the GEN-F2 range, making 410kW (550hp) from an LSA. (The Clubsport makes the same power.) That was until the GTSR range came around, which added the GTSR Maloo.
The GTS was HSV's central and normal model, and until 2015, was HSV's flagship. The GTS and GTS Maloo both made 430kW (576hp).
The GTSR (and GTSR Maloo) came around in 2015, as a revival of an old special edition variant of the GTS from the mid 1990's. Essentially, the GTSR got upgraded over the regular GTS, the most obvious is the more aggressive styling. You also got an extra 5kW, making it HSV's most powerful car ever at 584hp... or, at least until the W1 rolled around.
2017 was the very last year of Australia's car industry. Since HSV is HSV, they wanted to go out with a bang. So, they decided to take the GTSR and turn things up to 11. The result was the GTSR W1, Australia's fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car, _ever._ Instead of an LSA, the W1 got an LS9, churning out 636hp. It got beefier brakes, Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R semi-slick track tyres (it was the only car in the world at the time to come standard with them) a full alcantara interior and steering wheel (the regular GTSR had a combo of alcantara and leather), and a whole lot more.
Sold in 2017 only, the W1 was meant to be four things: Good around a track, fast in a straight line, exhilarating to drive, and to be a proper and final send off for the legendary Holden Commodore. The locally made ones, anyway. As a result, it'll do 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds (keep in mind its a 6-speed manual, with a 1st gear that tops out at 98.5km/h) and'll do the quarter mile in 12.18 seconds. It was also quite expensive... it cost $170,000 AUD back in 2017. Not cheap.
Only 295 W1's were ever made-275 for Australia, and the remaining 20 for New Zealand. There were also 3 road legal prototype tesing cars that were later sold.
Heck, fun fact-the badge "W1" actually has a meaning. The W stands for Walkinshaw Performance, a long time teamwork partner in HSV's history, and the 1 representing the fact that it was the #1 best car ever made by HSV, and in Australia in general. Even rarer is the W1 Maloo-only *_FOUR_* exist, which were converted by Walkinshaw-they took four GTSR Maloos, ripped out all of the normal stuff, and installed all of the W1's stuff. The ute in your thumbnail is one of those four-there was also a red one, a grey one, and a white one.
Sorry if I rambled on for a bit, there was just so much to talk about-particularly about the W1. If you've got any questions, just ask me.

I was Australia's youngest Holden Dealer during the golden Torana days, I will never forgive GM for not exporting Holdens to the U.S. to get commercial volume. They could not accept that Australia could build great cars with some better than they were building because we had passion and the US GM had bean counters.

Ian... I am a passionate Ford person (especially our own Aussie Fords which differ greatly to the U.S. stuff) but I do love many Holdens too .. The older stuff especially . The HR Holden , the HQ , mainly . The VF Commodore was a beauty and sold in the U.S. as the Chevy SS as you'd know . Very sadly the Maloo Utes were never sent to the U.S. but they can be obtained via a clever importer in your country ... They have a real following and are beloved by those who know them in America . The Ford utes are amazing too . The equivalent Ford product would have been the XR6T and XR8's..XR6T being for Turbo and man are they rocketships . Also the FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) utes and cars of course...

    Great video on HSV’s
I would like to point out that HSV built just 4 Maloo GTS-R W1 versions fitted with the legendary LS9, and that had the highest output of any Maloo and that was 474kw or 636 horsepower and 815 Nm - 601pound feet torque.
There are videos out there on this Ute.

As an Australian (and a volunteer Fire Fighter) if you want a good video of just how harsh things can get over here I would recommend some of the videos of our bushfires, in particularly the bushfires that impacted Canberra in 2003 or the more recent Black Saturday Fires. These fires and how we fight them vary greatly from the wildfires you have in the U.S. and have become a more savage and yearly event. Indeed the summer months (and now part of spring and autumn months) are regarded as the 'Fire Season' due to the regularity of these events. Its good that despite the chaos in the world at the moment though that both our nations fire services are still able to help each other out with only a month or so ago we sent crews over to fires over there and the U.S regularly send support to the mainland whenever things get rough over there.

Black saturday was as vicious and fast as hell, 2020 covered more area as it sort of mainly covered the east coast, but black saturday was something else, comms were apalling, radio updates dreadful, and resources well exposed very quickly, add 100km winds and 46.3c , all in all there was no chance in hell of even putting a dent in it, firefronts would jump and join, and sperate fires started in areas quit distant to each other and so quickly.

A guy here in Australia had a VS V8 and he had it stroked to a 383 and then he was the first person to twin turbo a car in Australia. He took it Summernats and had a sticker saying 650+ horsepower and he had it on the dyno and got nearly 700. Next year he had 750+ horsepower and everyone took notice and got above that with broken turbo. He then bought a really rear mid engine car and he was going for 1000 horsepower but before he got there he had a 1/4 mile run and they got him to go the opposite way and he hit the concrete wall full throttle. His name is Todd Wilkes look it up on TH-cam another guy I know was filming it and he said you could see him hitting the brakes and they did nothing. You need to look at the XR6 Turbo Ford falcon.

The Caprice PPV is really strange from an Australian point of view. The Caprice was Holden's top luxury model, but what interior the PPV has, is pretty much just base model Commodore.
To answer your question on the Viper, we got a small number of them (can't remember if 2nd or 3rd generation) badged as a Chrysler Viper. At the time there was no Dodge or Plymouth in Australia, so the Viper, Prowler and Neon came here as Chryslers. When we eventually got Dodge, it was just the Avenger, Nitro, Journey and Caliber

"I just want one" was a great advertising slogan for the latter years of production..
    as a result.. I have 2.. :D
    A 2002 VU II SS 5.7 which I've had since 2010.
and a 2013 Series 1 VF Sports wagon SV6 (I think the series 1 has a better front end than the series 2).. I considered the V8, but for more than double the price when I got mine in 2017, it wasn't an option.. It's still hella quick for a 2 ton vehicle (certainly quick enough to break speed limits before halfway through the gearbox), it's comfy like a couch, AND I can use the rear space for hauling 2 metre long things around while also keeping them dry, something the utes simply can't do.
The VU is _almost_ at the top of the list of 'best car I've ever driven'; it's grunty, and will happily shove your lungs through your spine when you stick the boot into it in 2nd as it literally teleports you down the road, has great road holding, and driver position within the car is perfect..
That list includes in no particular order:
    A Lambo Gallardo rag top,
an Aston Vantage flappy paddle V12,
a full racing spec Austin Healey Sprite (with a 1.6 corolla, fed by twin 45 Webers, stuffed in the front and a Celica 5 speed bolted to it (that's my Dad's hand-built, 20 year project toy)),
and a Mercedes E350 (like driving a magic carpet)...
with the only car which was more fun being an Arial Atom, which is basically a street legal go-kart with a supercharged 1.6 Honda in the back..
I really lament the closure of Holden, and hope some day a billionaire buys the rights and starts production again, because one by one the remaining Holdens get put into walls and culverts and other cars, (usually at the hands of an idiot with a heavy right foot and no brains), so their numbers dwindle, meaning I'm hanging on to mine..
Come to Australia some time, I might just let you drive them.. ;)

The Million Dollar plus Maloo was a very rare W1 LS9 one to attract that auction price.
I understand bought by a company that specialises in raffling (conducting a lottery) special hard to get cars after they use them for a while.
The super rare W1 supercharged LS9 Maloo on auction sold for $1,050,000 earlier on 30th January 2021.
It was big news on TV and all other media in Australia at the time.
The HSV build date plate of 29/12/2017 might have helped, being a few months after the other last official Holden.
Rare because it was one of four or six secretive W1 Maloo utes limited by the availability of the LS9 motors they used.
Seemed to all be owned by people with very close ties to HSV and not widely made known to potential buyers. So much harder to buy than the much larger run of LS9 equipped W1 sedans that were reported as being sold well over sticker price.
Another W1 Maloo has been announced to be up for auction in the past few days here.
The people who were allowed to buy the original cars look to be making quite a tidy profit if they achieve anywhere near the million dollar mark like the first one did.
At the same auction a Holden sedan of the standard spec V8 SS sedan, but the highest VIN plate number, and so a claim to being last Holden, went for $750,000 at the same 30th January 2021 auction.
Such is the local attachment to Holden before it was destroyed.

I loved loved loved the BMW, plus the salesman was lovely whereas the Volvo sales guy I did not like at all, but the drive is everything to me and the V40 had it. Volvo even had the car in Copper (so close to the BMW orange) but not for the Australian market! Stupid!
