It is a very nice airport, and it's huge! And there is a whole lot of wide open flat land around it. Great place to fly from, and into. I live in Fort Worth and remember when they built this airport. It's a very easy airport for pilots to land and takeoff, because there are no terrain features, and barely any trees either, just short scrubby trees here and there, mostly grassland.
What location of the airport did you spot at. I know it's not founders plaza because that is on the north side of the airport and it looks like you were on the side side of the airport.
