- The wake is the stream of turbulent air behind a plane, and everything on the plane in contact with the outside air contributes to it.
This video shows some of the components of the wake which are made impressively visible when atmospheric or other conditions are just right.
These include the following vortices: the big powerful ones which swirl off the wingtip areas; the narrow 'tubes' of condensed water which spin off the flap outer edges; the spirals coming off the propeller tips.
Stunning images and awesome filming! A real treat 😁 Thank you so much ✈✈✈😀
Good grief, the footage you shoot is amazing (and I appreciate the explanations in your descriptions) - thank you so much for posting!
Thanks for not laying a music soundtrack on top of the video. Hearing the sounds of the plane, and the rain in the background in several places, was much more satisfying and realistic. Great video, one of best I have found illustrating this phenomenon.
Well... I have sat here for the last 6 minutes open mouthed. I've never seen these before and your rock solid camera work is a treat to watch.
Thank you for posting some truly fantastic footage.
I would have thought that a rainy day would be a waste of time. some of the landings in the rain are great. You must spend hours and hours and hours doing this.
I guess nothing good comes easy.
Absolutely amazing! First time I've seen the prop vortices so well defined.
Got to get the sun in the right place to see them well!
Beautiful footage indeed, so elegant and peaceful!
This is THE best plane footage I´ve seen so far - truly amazing!
Oh my god... This may be the best aviation related video I've ever seen! Great work, you are a true professional.
It is so satisfying to see the vortices above the wing disapper as soon as the spoilers are deployed
You sir, deserve an award. Fantastic videos!
Great footage! The prop vortexes are epic!
How amazing it is at 3:40 with the dash! Fantastic!
Dash is a fantastic plane!
Outstanding footage of those amazing vortices! Plane spotting is so awesome!
AWESOME!!!! AMAZING VIDEO!! HUGE LIKE!!
at 1:44, that's such a freaking awesome picture! Looks like a demon descending from the clouds, with a veil behind it, dragging an evil dark cape behind him. Great vid.
Magic! Beautiful! Amazing! Lovely shapes in hte Q-400! and 777!
The best of all is the 757!!!!
Holy Sh*t incredible footage and editing - more plane amazingness from the master!!! :)
more comment amazingness - thank you!
I seriously cant get enough of your videos!
Stunning video.....simply stunning !!!!!
That's some pretty stellar camera work. Great stuff!
would love to see drone footage from above the planes
But it's beautiful! Amazing! Such magic :) Every shot has a "special something" in itself. Congratulations!
Great video! Nice replay on the end!
Absolutely SPECTACULAR! Amazing footage. Wow!
Massive respect mate, you get absolutely everything absolutely spot on. You're a Legend!!!
That is just awesome. That last 737 angle was intense.
Great job as always!
Big like!!
HO-LY SHIT! Really beautiful video! The whole combination of skies, vortices, slo-mo planes and your camera work make this video really pro!! Too bad I can give just one like!
what a blissful collection. liked.
That's cool
Fascinating. 100% Quality.
Thanks
That was really cool.
3:14 amazing, great capture
Lovely video mate! Liked!
Some amazing footage there, particularly the prop aircraft which I'm not used to seeing generate those swirls.
Nice Footage...
Great job! Makes me miss flying the 75.
Great stuff! Keep it coming.
Wow, that's some great footage of some real nice vortices. If you ever get a chance, try filming at MIA sometime. The generally calm or nonexistent wind, low altitude, and humidity have combined to create some of the straightest vortices that I've seen.
4:32 with that 757 shot. The best.
Lovely footage. Great stuff :)
An amazing video!
My god, absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad I subscribed to this channel.
flugsnug u never fail taking vid.............................thanks for sharing
Lovely stuff!
Masterful camera work
Fantastic video !!!!!!!!
Coooool (and moist! ;))! More of that!!! Liked!
the dash 8 vortices were so cool
Very good filming
Wow..amazing Video! LIKE!
Great video. And funny enough it is just used as 100% proof in Chemtrail group on Facebook, hahaha.
Going there on Monday. These kinds of shots with a long lens are made to look easy. They are anything but.
Those prop vortices are something else!!!! Was a polarised filter used on some of these, specifically the low cloud shot? The detail is astounding.
so beautiful, thank you !
Very realistic VG!
Hi! What equipment do you use? The videos are incredible. The best what i´ve seen ever.
I love your videos ; )
The last one would have been sufficient if shown just one time, but it also was the only one that really showed that the whole of the vortex extends well beyond the condensation funnel (for want of a better word) you can see.
This is just awesome!!! Amazing shot of the condensation over the top of the wing of the Emirates 777 stopping as soon as the spoilers pop up and destroy Bernoulli effect! I love what you did with the 757 at the end!!!
Is it okay if I show them in a video I am about to make for youtube debunking "chemtrails"?
It would just be a video capture of my screen- so they would see this page and your uploader name and everything.
I'd also like to show a piece of the "Emirates Wake vortex spectacular" if it is okay with you.
There is a video on here of an Air Force KC-10 in cruise flight making aerodynamic contrails and being filmed by a trailing aircraft. The guys filming it joke about "Hey look at those chemtrails- we should upload this to youtube"... so, it is one of the many "chemtrail" videos I need to debunk...
I'll message you....
And 4 years later I'm finally putting the finishing touches on the video I started 3 or 5 months ago!
3:37 wooow this is amazing!
Waouhh ! It's just IN-CRE-DI-BLE ! It's really amazing ;)
Outstanding......
Wow, beeindruckend! Sehr großes Lob von meiner Seite. ;)
Awesome video! Which camera do you have?
Thanks; visual nirvana!!
Thumbs if you educated a friend who was talking about 'chemtrails'.
John Loeppky Mine too! Haha. I went searching for this video SPECIFICALLY to disprove some of that bullshit.
Lucky for me my facebook is so used to my replies that when I click to comment links to the real stories behind the conspiracies automatically pop up.
That's impossible, I'm not a psychiatrist.
Not possible. The chemtrail conspiracy theorists are so far up their own asses that they refuse to accept any logic.
No need, I would never be friends with someone so stupid to believe in chemtrails.
Amazing!
beautiful!

EXCELLENT!!!
Love it! :-)
always wondered what the white. stuff waa that came off the wingtip...i wanna see what a vortex feels like in my hand
This video is one of the best,if only I owner TH-cam...
Trust me-
I was going to award you handsomely, now all I can do is ask if you could sit down with me for a meal.🍗🍺
Does the runway at 2:25 really have hills or is it an optical illusion?
What is your camera gear ??? Great video !
Just to be clear, all what you showed is not wake turbulence vortex, but just some vortice effect. The vortex is around the end of the wing and is not visible on your shots.
Hi great videos, whereabouts do you view see I normally view at sheldon country park
these shots were from both ends of the runway including sheldon park, also the airport car park
Is this real footage? Don't get me wrong it is amazing footage, I'm just asking because in some shots it looks like it was edited in.
What I'm curious about: Why are the vortexes emerging on the outer end of the flaps? I thought wing vortexes would emerge from the tip of the wing because high and low pressure air would mix up at this point. That's why modern airliners are using winglets, right?
Depending on the wing, vortices can develop in different locations. If the aircraft is in the clean configuration (flaps, slats and gear up) a vortex will be generated at each wingtip, mitigated if a winglet or raked wingtip is involved. On approach, the primary lifting surfaces are the extended flaps. Each flap will generate a vortex, usually the outboard flaps create the most pronounced vortices. The inboard flaps on aircraft with separated pairs, do the bulk of the lifting but their vortices are usually disrupted by engine blast. As a pilot, when following traffic the worst scenario for strong wake turbulence is heavy, slow, clean (highest angle of attack).

Thanks for the detailed explanation ;)
Much appreciated.
if u were to stand in the vortex would it be powerful enough to push u over? :o
Amazing Like
WOW==amazing!!
интересный эффект спутной струи с конденсационным следом на низких скоростях
Its amazing how innocent those vortex vortices can crash a plane
Looks like that plane at 1:45 has a RH wing leading edge landing light out.
Great video. Which program did you use for making the wake vortexes? Almost looks real.
Thank you for crediting me with the skills to create this footage artificially, but sadly I have to rely on cameras, planes and the atmosphere to do it for me :(
Hi ,
i'm an Air Traffic Controller and aspiring musician from Ireland.
I've just completed an instrumental electronic piece of soundtrack called Wake Vortex.
Would it be possible to use some of the footage from your awesome video on an accompanying video that i would be using
as background during live performances and maybe as part of a compilation on a youtube video?
Naturally, full credit would be given to your work and if there are any sections you wouldn't want used, i'd fully understand.
Thanks for your time , Michael.
I hit my own wake turbulence when doing steep turns. Was like bump!, "What was that?" turn to the left and straighten out on heading... bump!
1:02 buttering the bread
amazing
awsome
Looks like the flaps need winglets too!
My questions are:
what weather have to be that i see that?
what causes the wake vortex and from where are they coming from? How do they arise?
+TheAirline Flyer 2015 it has to do with flux separation and vortex generation from what is none as the boundary layer on the aircraft wing surfaces. very interesting but complicated topic in aerodynamics
perfect !!
I was also wondering do you know when the extension should be complete and if the A380 will ever return?
The extension is due to be operational may 1st. I'm quite sure the a380 will return but have absolutely no idea when...
So sick when it distorts the background
You're an inspiration for me and I always asking what do you use for recording. I found a similar place at he end of 24r in montreal. All i need is ''your'' lenses. I have a canon 7d. Go take a look at my channel
Oq e essa fumaça branca saindo dos avioes?
Does a vortex only occur when landing and take off?
Nope, it actually occurs anytime the wings are producing lift. Therefore if the airplane is flying there will be wing vortexes. The thing is, more than 90% of the time those vortexes are all but invisible to the human eye. The only way they are visible is if the atmospheric conditions are perfect like they are here. I could be wrong, but I think the air has to be saturated (relative humidity 100%) in order for those to be visible. That's why they are such a danger to pilots. All of that turbulent air is hidden and what the pilot thinks is smooth air is more like a mini tornado.
Thank you
Beautiful Wake vortex variety on these aircraft
I was wondering where the chemtrailers get their footage from. Take a clip, change the title to 'pilot forgets to try off sprayers' & you'll have "Total Proof" ;-)
You solved the worlds greatest problem!!!! You are so awesome
Silly mos do anything to relieve themselves of a conscience..... whoops mic still on...
what airport this is?
