To answer the OP's question in the video, we just call them "pedals". They work the same way they would in a conventional helicopter although use differential collective pitch to turn the aircraft depending on cyclic and pedal coordination. Cyclic and Pedals in the same direction, turns about the tail. Cyclic and pedal in opposite directions, turns about the nose, pedal input with no cyclic, turns around the center hook.

Flew in these a handful of time at Camp Lejeune with the Marines. Always loved how the scenery through that open area where the rear door that never fully closed was heat distorted by the hot exhaust.

I've jumped many times from a CH-47, the airborne drop isn't quite like that but glad to see the process of airborne troops is making it into the game.
On most helicopters the main rotor has to fight the tail rotor, but the chinook has two main rotors that work together so all the engine power is used for lift. the steering knob on the bottom console works the right aft wheel while on the ground to steer the aircraft as opposed to using the cyclic or pedals. most controls have a magnetic lock to hold them in place. also since there is no aft rotor to be influenced by the wind the ch47 is the most stable when it comes to high winds.
Look great, pulled a slight face at the Maintenance panel being in the cockpit and controlling the ramp from the cockpit but that's small stuff. Well done to the Modder.
The faster a single rotor heli goes forward the less lift is generated on the side of the heli where the rotorblades are moving backwards (with the wind). On the opposite side of the heli it’s the other way around, there’s much more lift when moving faster and faster forward. This causes the heli to tilt. CH-47 has two rotors spinning in opposite directions..
I wonder what ED's long term ideas are. Maybe a full-on battlefield with troops, aircraft, heavy armor and dynamic campaigns. Imagine a server with 100 people or more playing different roles against quality AI opponents. Go ED!
Cap! My dad was a CH47D crew chief and is a Gulf War Vet. Tail no.24335 Flippers. My dad's theory is the flares are dispensing because the aircraft countermeasure system is detecting the soldiers as a close moving threat when they jump out.

Very manoeuvrable, very robust, and always a bitch to get up the ramp step with a full bergen on 😆 Don’t ask about the game ‘Unclip the Loady!’.
The manual steering is to turn the one steerable landing gear which I believe is the right rear. However it could be the left. But that’s how you steer while ground taxiing
Indeed, it’s the right wheel which steers and the left just casters. The other switch (from memory) is the lock/unlock switch that will centralise and lock the wheels for flight and rolling landings.
As a mechanic who works on multiple aircraft including the CH-47, I can't tell you why it's called a thrust on the Chinook either. Every other bird I've worked on calls it a collective lol
Would love a CH-47A and ACH-47A guns-a-go-go module. Both of then together in one module would be amazing! The real ACH-47A had two 20mm cannons, two 19x Hydra rocket pods, five gunners (.50s or 7.62mm miniguns), and a 40mm M129 grenade launcher in the nose. So it would have a standard heavy lift for cargo folks and the ACH-47 when something REALLY needs to die. Would be a glorious module that would sell like hot cake.
EAPS - Engine Air Particle Separator (pronounced EEPS). This is the massive air filter that Simba’s model on the front of the engines, and is an active filter with a massive fan which exhausts any crap in the air like sand. Due to the current it draws, you need a period between starting each one, and you must start number 1 first - you can’t start 2 without 1 being on. As your model was a Vietnam era gunship, it doesn’t have anything on the front of the engine at all, not even the pointy looking screens…
Centre windscreen wipers are RAF model Chinooks only (All marks). The manual steering is for the rear starboard wheel. The knob is basically a steering wheel. The switch locks and unlocks the pins that keep both the rear undercarriage straight for rolling landings and movable when taxing. The "whatever that is" on the overhead panel is windscreen anti-icing and pitot probe heaters. The "that stuff up there" is the maintenance panel from the ramp area....No idea why it is in the walkway. The engines might be exactly the same. Your wingman has engine air particle separator (EAPS) modules fitted. There is a whole bunch of different mod states shown on the outside as well and a missing APU vent. I have no idea which model of Chinook this is. It seems to be a hotchpotch mix up of quite a few. The external mods say it isn't the Vietnam war era A model. Still a nice mod though. While I appreciate the work the developer of this mod put in. I fear high quality mods will irreparablely hare DCS world. Please use your talent and make a full fidelity licensed module. We desperately need more teams.
Its insanely time comsuming to actually get a module done. Im talking 100 of times longer than a high quality mod. Even getting the SDK from ED is a pain in the ass.
The people that make these mods do it in their spare time. Making these aircraft as official modules would mean maintaining the aircraft at that level, which is why (it's at least one of the reasons) the A-4 and UH60L guys aren't interested in it. ED is doing a fine job of harming DCS all on their own, anyway.
paratrooper in dcs world would be nice on dynamic servers ... for example buddyspike ... it's a shame that something like that only comes about through mods of the community
Recently saw the Mogadishu map on You Tube. The whole time I was thinking you could throw 3 Guns-a-Go-Go with miniguns in the windows and 2 squads of Delta into the mix and change the outcome quickly. I spent 22 year in the back of the "fat lady"
Master Radio , all it does is play ACDC. Thumbs up youre all GTG if you got that. Don't need to turn anything else on. Its highway to hell too instead of thunderstuck which is an added Bonus.
Many people would. If they made a Vietnam-era CH-47A with the option to convert it into the ACH-47A “guns-a-go-go” (which would also remove the external cargo hooks), it would sell like hot cake. It would satisfy those who love to just fly and transport cargo and do logistical things, and it would satisfy the gunship lovers. It would be amazing! Or if not a Vietnam version, a modern version would still be awesome, though there’s no modern gunship variant. Only the Vietnam-era ACH-47A.

It's probably me missing something and/or me being a noob, but I cannot seem to control anything from the main position. For startup only the copilot's seat worked for interaction with the buttons and the stick and collective only worked while in the copilot's seat as well. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can fix this

Question - If you’re going to land on a Runway or carrier (In DCS) with multiple People/Ai planes, will the ATC assign patterns and land one play at a time realistically? Or will it just tell everyone to land. I only play solo and have never experienced this. Cheers
