Fantastic video! Maybe your best ever! Great to get the timely video walk-around of PI 1. Chris standing on the roof was a real hoot. Looks like it passed the first (or second) roof strength validation test! 🎉
Thank you Tom! We appreciate you! Chris is such a good sport. I can't believe I talked him into standing on it!
Oh yes, that was awesome. In Paris they did not even get inside the body. Am so happy to see everything coming together.
Thanks for the fun, action packed interview! It is always great to get the inside scoop from Chris (for what he can talk about), and share in his knowledge and enthusiasm.
He's awesome. Thank you Dean!
Badass! Roof didn't flex even a bit when he stood on it. Thanks Sarah, Chad, and Chris for the updates!!!
Thank you!
Maybe the best segment you have ever done. Chris McC was relaxed, and informative, without giving away details. The trip to Abu Dubai might include a green light of investment. Kicking off beginning of the football game, green light, new beginnings, whatever you call it, it is a Launch Edition dream come true! Thank you for a great interview with a helping of levity. Never hurts to laugh a bit, and your jocular way made my inner cat smile.
Chris is always on our interview list. We met him at the factory two years ago and have kept in touch. He gave us both rides in Aptera. Just a super positive person!
The combination of positivity, energy and timely content makes you both unique, Sarah and Chad. Congrats!
Thank you so much!
Watching the 3 of you was such a joy, so much fun, and uplifting. You guys have me soaring in wingless flight in anticipation of what's soon to rise and appear on the horizon!!!
😁
Chris M’s mom here. Chad and Sarah, you guys are great! You are terrific interviewers and so great with Chris. Hope to meet you someday!
Thank you Chris' Mom! You raised a terrific young man. He is a joy to know and that's a credit to you. We look forward to meeting you sometime.
Wow... it is such an incredible feeling to see the first BINC safely at Aptera headquarters. This morning I was keeping the Aptera team in my thoughts. Tesla brought ev's back into the real world. Aptera though is a Leap technology.. May it inspire many more that our world needs at this point in our history.
Well said!!
My key takeaways:
1. DriftX Abu Dhabi: Aptera will have a lot of secret meetings with potential investors and maybe local influencers in sunny Abu Dhabi when attending the DriftX event with the Gamma prototype. At timestamp 19:40 until 22:45.
2. Chris M shows the first PI (production intent) vehicle body (PI-1) on camera at timestamp 24:14 and show a few details, and stands on the body's roof. (PI-1 won't get wheels, but PI-2 will be driveable this summer).
3. When PI-1 was shown in France at the huge composite convention in Paris, there were a lot of Concept composite EVs but Aptera was the only one with Production parts. At 1:34.
4. CPC (that makes the Aptera body) in Italy believes in Aptera and can deliver high volumes to Aptera. CPC and their suppliers (e.g. their tool maker "Energy") want to build factories in the USA, and sees Aptera as a bridge for that. CPC is already a big company. At 9:35.
Thank you for this comment with time stamps!! We appreciate it.
Hmmmm, my post didn't post. Just said this is a fantastic video and 3 of my favorite peeps.🐈😻
Thank you!! Sorry it didn't post originally. I'll look into it.
You stood on the roof of the BINC you rebel!!!! Haha. That was fun to see. Validation testing is going to be amazing.
He's a bad seed. 🤣
Way to go DTL!!! Excellent interview. Thank you Chris for all your commentary and answers to questions. All of you feel like a family - Aptera is about the movement of togetherness. I can't believe both Chris's have stood on the roof - goes to show how strong the Binc structure is and soon with real world crash testing my future thought is Aptera will be the strongest production vehicle EveR! Volvo has held the trophy but Aptera is taking the Title. It sure feels real seeing the PI-1 ( Magnum PI - Sarah 😺). These next few months are going to be jammed packed with new news the newspapers wont have enough paper to hold all the print. I had an email conversation with Chris M. and soon - in the next couple of months the Aptera store will have something very interesting for us all. I wish I could say more, but I will leave it there. From sunny New Mexico ☀☀, Let the light, fuel your drive.
Thank you! We will watch the store for the new item!
This is awesome ! Very positive! What a progress!
Thank you!!
This was a fun episode!
Thank you Gary!
This was such an exciting program, and Sarah and Chad, I think your best yet! When Judy and I went to Carlsbad in 2021, we met Quincy and Audra, but Chris was not quite there yet. We feel as though we have a much better idea of who he is.
I am so exited for him personally! He is starting to follow me around the world on the journey I had. I have been to Paris, both as a student, and many times for work, and also Italy and many times to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, although they will have changed greatly since the '90s when I was going there frequently! I am so glad to have him and you represent the rest of us on our Aptera adventure!
Thank you Bruce!! Chris is a great Aptera marketing machine!
Thank you for egging Chris on! Can't wait to see what you can get him to do for the next interview!
🤣 he's definitely a good sport!
Awesome!
It was a lot of fun! As you know Chris is a great person. Great video about Sarah Hardwick by the way! She is fantastic.
Haven't been for a ride, but was very impressed seeing a prototype in person. I'm a big investor and so excited for the BINC!
Such an important project! Glad you are able to support it
Fantastic discussion and BinC PI-1 tour Chad, Sarah and Chris!! What a fun exchange, thank you for bringing these new views and details to us!
Thank you! Chris is a good sport.
Very entertaining and informative
🎯 goal reached!! Thank you so much.
*DOPE content. Keep that up! Much* ❤️
Thank you Chad! You're Dope!
This was great 😂
You are!
Fantastic video. Three of my favorite people. 😸🐈😻
That's very kind. Looks like it was posted twice. 😜
Maybe a freaky delay...maybe it was that UFO that flew over.
Great show, thanks DTL! This reminds me of Amory Lovins of the Rocky Mountain institute's prediction that we would start producing ultra efficient carbon fiber bodied cars to help supercharge the transition away from the fossil fuel based economy. You should interview Amory and get his take on the Aptera. BTW, I'm one of the top 100 accelerators, and the dashboard was updated to show Aptera estimates delivery of my Aptera in the 1st half of 2025.
Thank you for the information. 2025 is close! I'll look up Armory.
Holy COW!!! OMG!!!! Your guys’s BEST video yet!! Soooooo much info, very entertaining too! Infotainment at its BEST! You guys are totally on your game now.
Thank you Jerry!!!
Thanks for posting.
Charge on!
Thank you Rich. Charge On Sir!
Chad and Sarah, you can make an interview so much fun and at the same time get a lot of information , thank you
That's so nice of you to say!! Thank you.
It looks like the assembly is going to be more like legos than model cars. I love it!
Hahahahaha!! Definitely!
very cool
Thank you!
Thank you. That was a fun interview. And nice job goading Chris into standing on the binc 😂 . I think if i tried that, it might be a real roof crush test. I'd probably turn it into a "badda binc"
Hahahahaha!!! Me too!
LOL!
Quite funny and informative, thanks
Thank you!
Totally cool!!
Chris is a blast!
Great conversation and tour of the BinC
Thank you!
I keep trying to win the Lottery / PowerBall so I can fully fund production, and everyone can get their Aptera sooner.
It's the thought that counts. 😁💲💲
If I win the 1 Billion PowerBall, cash value about $500 million, after tax maybe $300 million. Split that 50/50 with the wife and I have around $150 million to play with. Probably $60 million would get Aptera fully equipped for production. Once we get fully up to speed and pumping units out in Carlesbad and learn the production lessons there, I would probably have enough left over to start a 2nd production facility in Denver for a mid continent facility. Perhaps we could add in an electric motor plant, BINK facility, or battery production plant with that.
I’d probably be out of money by then, but Aptera should have cash flow by then, and we could then do something with parts, suspensions, or something in Grand Rapids for you folks to have your hobby job company. Eventually they want another production plant somewhere back on the East coast, not sure where that would be best sited. I would favor a state that respects women’s rights and is family friendly (ie, not Florida or Texas or much of the Deep South). I’d personally rather pay a little higher taxes and have a safe environment for my employees (treat like extended family) to live and raise their families.
@@dondaniels127 excellent plans!
So fun! Thanks for the info. I hope Chris shares some Disneyland Paris pics!
Chris is Great!
@dtl He is! His grin when he is sitting in the BinC just radiates happiness.
great interview
Thank you Keny!!
The #1 question in France upon seeing seeing the Aptera BinC..."Escargot?"😊
That's all we got man!
Good stuff, folks. See you in Carlsbad soon.
Thank you! CU there
The roof should be able to hold the weight of the completed Aptera, so much more than a single Chris. Of course that would be with the roll cage installed.
Right. 😁
Wow! There was a lot of nice slivers of new information. Great interview.🤓
#318
Thank you! We love talking to Aptera folks.
Getting the BinC in CA is huge. I had something happen and was wondering if you might ask. I had a rock fly up and chip my windshield. How is the Aptera with flying debris? Will the aerodynamics or angle of the windshield have a positive effect on negating chips?
There was a video a couple years ago when Chris Anthony (CEO) explained that bugs rarely die on the windshield but swoop right over. I can't remember what video it was. May have been a Rich Rebuilds video.
upright windshields like on jeeps and semis are the most vulnerable to rock damage; the extreme slope of most other windshields usually deflects rocks.
@@jamesengland7461 thank you!
Stickers? I want a sticker! Accellerators should get stickers ...
I agree!
I am out in the sticks - I can gather all you want from my yard after the last wind storm. :/
I have bought them from the Aptera store. They had some of the green sunglasses bling leftover from solar summer when we visited for the Electric Vehicle Association's annual conference last January. Guessing there will be a bling bag when Accelerators pick up their Apterae, now showing ""Estimated Delivery Date: H1 2025" when we log-in.
Next time, ask what the computer projected roof crush strength will be on this final BINC design?
Will do!
So, did they need the additional steel roll cage because the carbon wasn’t strong enough for crash tests?
Good question. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.
Feed two birds with one scone!
🤣
If you have the dough....
hy,
I need my Aptera... In Germany.
Greetins from Enger, Germany...
I hope it gets there soon!!
Will this one be eventually be used for crash testing?
Not this one. This is basically for fitting the wiring and making sure everything fits
@@dtl I imagine once its completed, they aren't going to waste it and just have it sit around.
Hopefully they get a debt deal soon and start ordering tooling to finally start production in 2025.
Yes!
Did it have a new BINC smell? :)
🤣🤣🤣
Does carbon fiber smell like charcoal or diamonds? 😂
Precious like diamonds 😉
Why is it white?
Good question! Hopefully someone will answer. I don't know.
Fiberglass SMC is white. The inside is carbon fiber SMC, which is black. You can see that on the doors too. They're black on the inside and white on the outside..
@@richardryley3660🔌🔌You are correct. The white is a Fiberglass SMC body similar to those that remember the old GM Saturn bodies. The black is structural BinC. 🔌🔌
What? No duck aka Confit de Canard. Yummy
No mention of duck. Hahahaha
I think it was "Terrine de Cochon , Saucisse de Morteau, Piment d’Espelette" ;-)
