    I'm taking a wait and see attitude. To date, Aptera has not been the most honest of companies. They tend to overpromise and underdeliver. The price for me will be based on quality. If they have quality on par with Toyota, then they're worth the price. If they have a quality on par with the Coda EV, then there is no way I would want one for free.

    I am super hoping for aptera success. But it’s important to remember this is not a car. It’s technically a bike or trike. I hope that lots of people buy them, but I feel a lot more safer in a Tesla model 3 which is not much more money. 🤔

    I had $36k in my head for the original Launch Edition. I loved the performance specs they listed. Now I’m not nearly as enthusiastic. It might be a more reliable drivetrain, but the loss of AWD means a huge loss of power on hard corners, which no one should do on public roads. But it’s the thought. This is a show-off kind of car, so the acceleration nerf is a big letdown for me. I am currently sticking with AWD. I am open to having my mind changed when I start seeing videos of the production-intent vehicles. The vehicle has so much more going for it, I shouldn’t be so stuck on AWD.

    I definitely favor the all in-wheel drive, even if it takes another half dozen years. But now that they've changed route, I don't imagine they'll do more than add a single in-wheel in the back. I'll certainly wait for that, but really really really (like a kid) wish it would be all in-wheel drive.

    Hey Chad sorry if this is too personal but why is your face crooked? For the video sorry I'll answer the question I think 40k is the max for aptera and yes 35 would make it way more attractive. You can get a Tesla for less than that very lightly used with 4 doors and 5 seats. I understand the efficiency aspect of it but it's still just a 2 door vehicle... That's not even a car is a trike. And i am a reservation holder an early one at that. But i think i might drop out of the race though

      Great points! My face issue is from Bel's Palsy. It's when inflammation causes the nerves to stop controlling 1/2 of your face. For 6 Months I couldn't move any part of the left side of my face. It's starting to get better. Thank you for asking!

      @@dtl ok feel better soon. I've been following your channel but since the last couple videos where aptera dropped elaphe and the price send to be crossing up... No AWD I've stopped watching a lot of the regular aptera channels. I really don't it's gonna be under 40k .. and I just see that there gonna be burning a lot of cash and losing money when at that price. If they raise the price they will get less sales. Don't see how they're gonna make this work with the type of vehicle they're building

    The na sayers dont understand that the price of fuel is relevant. As we shift away from fossil fuels, even electricity is going to become more costly. If electricity goes to 45 to 50 cents per kwh which is totally plausible, suddenly an Ev is not that much cheaper on fuel. However an aptera is so efficient, that even if you have to charge it you will be filling up a much smaller tank.

    Like anything else something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. However if there is plenty of supply and not enough demand the price will fall. For me if the price I am asked to pay is over $50K I would wait for the price to come down. Afterall it is transportion for only two, with self driving to come later at an additional cost. It is not a truck and it can not tow much at all. For me the solar is nice, but I have solar on my house that I could charge it with. While it has some supercar qualities that give it some extra value. I belive that most of the Accelators could afford a $45 K price and that would full production started with at least a reasonable proffit. As production increases costs should come down. As an Accelator my self I do not want them to sell with out at least a small proffit with all there costs concidered over the 6000 units, they expect to need to sell to brake even.

    If the price isn’t less than a Model 3 for similar range they just won’t sell. I wouldn’t mind paying more for the 600 mile range. But my dreams of a BEV vehicle are just about over. I am thinking about just getting a Camry Hybrid. More utility, reliability, and predictability.

    These days you can get a brand new, long range, Tesla Model 3 for $35,000 (after the $7500 tax credit). Model 3 has a lot of advantages over an Aptera, including immediate availability. So unless you NEED the solar of the Aptera, I think it has to eventually get down near $20k to be generally appealing. At $30k, it's hard to justify a 2 seater, when you can get a full, high-quality, time-tested vehicle for $5k more. Makes me sad that it doesn't look like my Aptera is going to happen for me.

    Pushing the boundaries of content creation. I like it! Sorry, maybe my monitor is distorted, but your face looks just fine to me! I hope the LE comes in around $35k (any less would be gravy). If over $40k, I'll be thinking twice before jumping in. I wonder if Aptera will float the price (a la Testa) once deliveries start? Once Aptera gets the assembly line going, has a revenue stream, and begins making the 250-mile variant (which may end up having even a smaller battery), I could see them selling that for well under $30k.

    I am an accelerator investor and to be honest my cutoff price is going to be $40k. I just can’t justify paying more given where my spending priorities are ie paying down real estate debt.

    My wife has a great idea! Aptera should concurrently roll out the 1000 mile range version soon after starting production, and charge a premium for this particular model. Reasons are this: New battery technologies are just around the corner, or hitting the market already, and soon all EV range will jump up. When this happens, Aptera looses some of the "stand out from the crowd" marketability of this feature. Bringing it out as soon as possible may allow them to retain the "first on the market" status and command the premium price tag. Both models rolling out at the same time would allow for the "every man's" affordability and volume sales of the lower range end, while simultaneously offering a premium model for the customer and a premium margin for Aptera, aiding to profitability.

      Nice idea, but... I don't think the taller batteries they will need for those longer range models are available yet, even for testing and sampling, let alone in large economical quantities. The 600 and 1000 mile models are probably 5 years or more away at the rate they're going.

      @@fotoguru222 That is a good point if true. The manufacturer has told Aptera that it's only a change in material dimensions, not manufacturing method, so that should cut down on the time it takes to roll them out.

    The average price of a new car as of July is $47 or $48000 depending on website you go to, so anything below tthat for the 400 mile range LE should be considered reasonable for those who are accelerators and/or early adopters knowing that the vehicle will be cheaper to operate and maintain than any other EV out there and will most likely prove to be collectible. As for future pricing of models I am betting that aptera will be able to price them very reasonably, but may adopt Teslas pricing strategy which could cause prices to be a bit higher than they might otherwise be given that supply might be lower than demand for a year or so.

      At $48,000 you would never recoup your savings from gas or electric on what you are already driving. I spend $30.00 a month on gas right now so that is 133 years of worth of gasoline. Do not buy a car just to save money because it will not work out that way.

    We will wait and see how things shake out, and what decisions Aptera will make, particularly for the long term reservation holder category that we are part of. We want Aptera to succeed, trust their decision making process, and plan for Aptera to not only be our daily driver, but our only vehicle.

    My head says it's so unique that until mass adoption occurs, price can be much higher, but to really get there a few things must happen. The validation has to show that Aptera meets or exceeds all the past projections. Maybe 0/60 isn't as important as safety, but all claims made in the past have to be close or exceeded. Second, after the Launch Edition is rolling around on the road, it must not have issues. The robust nature of the vehicle needs to be very high, and no software issues. VW software has put off many owners, and has tarnished the reputation of the brand, Aptera needs to avoid that, in order to grow into a competitive company in a marketplace which is attracting lots of new entrants. The order book will take care of growth for several years, and price will be competitive in the market if over 100,000 are waiting in line. In the early phase, the Launch Edition will become a coveted item. The value for those vehicles might be a good indicator of what the companies future might be. The price is debatable and the company will be able to look at it as bean counters say, what the market will be willing to pay. However, they know that by being out of line, (too high) will soften demand for the future. Playing within those parameters is a bit difficult at first, but high demand allows a company to make a decent profit in the automotive industry and they understand that.

    I plan to get an Aptera as my retirement car. I don't want go too much over $40,000 but I will more. The savings downstream is outrageously large.

    Thanks Chad for your insights and sharing with the community! For me I am in up to 55k. This vehicle is so revolutionary, unique and awesome. The average new price for a vehicle in the US is 50k. I am willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the overall community, so that this vehicle can get to everyone else at a lower price as Aptera improves their manufacturing process. This will allow Aptera to reduce the price overtime. Aptera is a start up and needs to get to profitability as soon as they can with their limited resources to survive and continue their revolutionary journey of providing an incredible vehicle along with the lowest price to operate! It is a fine line between delivering on what you say verses profitability because things are ever changing requiring you to adapt and running the risk of alienating your customers. Lastly, this company is unique with their consistent communication about their product to the community.

    If price gets too high, I believe most LE people will pull their funding and give up on Aptera. And yes I am not getting a free Aptera or have the willingness to just pay anything. I believe Aptera will treat us right!!

    My Chevy Bolt, traditional 4-seat car with traditional manufacturer support is $37K - 7.5K (tax credit) + external solar panel system to charge it ~4K (30 miles/day from sun) = $33.5K compared to a 2-seat non-traditional car with non-traditional maintenance support, low weight support (500lbs). I am cheering for Aptera, but to win, they can't be that niche car that only rich people buy. Gotta be < $33.5K.. and the less the better. My push would be $29-30K.

      Please tell us what cargo weight your Chevy Bolt supports. (You can find it on your driver door post when you open the door.) You might be surprised how low it is. I'm guessing 750 pounds for a car that weighs about twice as much as Aptera.🤔

      @@rw6262 Not if you live in the North America. Car & Driver says, "Its diminutive size will presumably prevent the Inster from ever reaching American shores." 😑 Kind of a shame. Cute little car. However, although it has about the same size battery as the Aptera Launch Edition, it will take you only about half as far on a charge, and you'll need to plug it in for every one of those miles. I'm sure the acceleration and top speed are lacking as well.

    Cybertruck pricing is high because early adopters were willing to pay that much. Prices are going to move below $80k soon and then cheaper as demand tapers off.

    IMO unless Aptera produces an EV (soon) that can compete on price with forthcoming EV market offerings, the company will go by the wayside, The rate of change within the EV space/market is accelerating. Shakeouts of current EV manufacturers are coming.

    What I don't get is why Aptera recently reduced the price of the Launch Edition in the configurator, but at the same time they came out with information for their investors which showed they would barely be breaking even at the new price of $30,700. Apparently it's going to cost them over $29k to build the Launch Edition. It seems like Aptera are just wanting to get as many reservations as possible to keep their investors happy, but as soon as production starts, and reservation holders get that email telling them to get ready to have their Aptera delivered, they will get that price shock telling them that it's going to cost $40k. Don't get me wrong, I think the price needs to increase, but it seems like people should know now what the price is going to be.

      If you look at the spec of the launch edition, it's really a change to the configuration rather than a change to the price. i.e., they removed 3WD from LE, and set it to the 2WD price.

    Wow Chad, you have mastered your telepathy skills. I could tell just what your were thinking without you opening your mouth. Most impressive. I think that Aptera needs to keep the introductory price under $35K (before options) mostly just to get the first 2,000 built, on the road, and reviewed. Once the real world efficiency numbers, range, and performance numbers are shown (and the Aptera gets positive reviews) then they will get national and international recognition as an EV industry disruptor. And then they will have an even more successful IPO. As an investor, I am OK with them taking 6-10 more months to make a profit. Aptera can add a premium to the extras, like AWD, ADAS, heated seats and steering, and the elusive 1,000 mile model. The difference in price between the LR RWD Tesla Model 3 and Model 3 Performance is around $13K. And if Aptera went ahead and engineered the Elaphe rear motor back in (adding 70HP) the 0-60 acceleration numbers will likely get down under 4 seconds, and people buying the Aptera (also) as a performance EV will likely pay more for the added features and capabilities.

    Aptera has been very transparent for a vehicle manufacturer. Look at alll the vehicles when they are in the late stage of road testing, have those crazy wraps to disguise the vehicle. Im glad aptera is prioritizing production over perfection!

    I'm a line worker at a small manufacturer. I ain't rich and likely never will be. The Aptera would hopefully be my affordable and super cool entry into the EV world. For what the car promises and looks likely to deliver, I'm willing to stretch my meager budget pretty hard. I'll wait to see how it really prices out when they start getting made, but the rumors as of now are pretty ugly. Unfortunately, if it goes much past $30K it just won't matter how great the car is because it'll be more than my bank account can handle. Sucks, but that's life.

    I currently have the 600 AWD version reserved and it still states 40k. If there is a slight price increase from that 40 I would be ok, but it couldn’t be more than like 10 percent. For anything above that I can get a brand new Tesla which is an established EV company. There is an argument for a total cost of ownership where Aptera might possibly come out ahead, but those numbers are untested and unproven. The main draw for me from Aptera was an EV that could get me 3 times the range of current EVs for a very affordable price. Efficiency is nice, solar is neat, the looks are cool, but it was the lower upfront cost that initially made me interested.
