    The winds are blowing in favor of Aptera Motors. Validation will come soon, then production, which really should be called assembly, will begin. Once the first 1000 are on the road, the heads will be turning and the world will discover what we already know. Steve, aka #31, it is the dawning of a new era, Tesla started the ev revolution, but Aptera is getting a more efficient vehicle out there, and it will be everything we have hoped for, maybe more.
    Excellent that you applaud others who cover the Aptera's journey, because you have been doing so for three years, not being jealous, instead cheering, which is great to see.
    Your channel is a great service to the fans of Aptera, and Aptera is better off because of your commentary. Thanks Steve for doing this job, with class, and logic.

I would not be surprised if CPC is making adjustments on how to ensure the panels meet up properly which could be causing the delay. Actual production performance can easily add unexpected variation vs. intended design and stack of tolerances become a concern.

    The videos share info we already know, but they are informing a larger audience. The news snippets are free advertising, and especially good when they have correct info and are so positive in support for Aptera. The other factory visit videos are great for the next step of Aptera enthusiast, as they show someone getting their first actual drive in an Aptera prototype, their good impressions, and some related facts that allow people to compare the future Aptera to other EVs and gas powered cars. I am really looking forward to seeing these kinds of reviews on the completed, production intent models hopefully coming out soon. I expect that it may take a month or two to see those developed models on CA roads, because the ones being built for formal reviews will need to have all components functional, from the full solar, to the updated cooling system, charging system, HVAC, interior, cameras, displays and full electronics. That is a LOT to get together from all of the various vendors, and get it all working flawlessly.

    It’s great to see everything getting boiled down “correctly” by the media for a change. Really nice to see the tide turn in that regard. That said, I’d hesitate to call CPC “the hold up”. I think the decision to transport via air and abandon the containers necessitated roll-on/roll-off capabilities for each chassis. I’m guessing this decision was made sometime in 4Q23.

    • @artboymoy
      @artboymoy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I think the hold up to going to full production is getting the capital for the extra machines to do the batteries and solar components. Sure you can stamp a body out in 12 minutes but from what the factory tour at the EVA confernece seemed to tell us that the other components take longer to produce for a vehicle than 12 minutes, so you need more machines to keep up for the supply chain. IMO, I wouldn't doubt that they may need three shifts for those other parts and assembly just two.

    • @bobhilder1469
      @bobhilder1469 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@artboymoyYes, for example the solar panels. By Aptera's own admission, even w/ a 5x expansion of the solar fab, they'll only be able to make 12.5 full solar Aptera per day. (here's the math: 1 solar fab line = 10 panels a day, 5 solar fab lines = 50 panels a day, 1 full solar Aptera requires 4 panels, 50 panels per day divided by 4 panels per full solar Aptera = 12.5 full solar Aptera per day) (Note: it isn't clear if the 10 panels per day is from the expected 2 shifts or just 1. If it's from just 1 shift then it's 25 full solar Aptera per day with 5 solar fab lines.)

As has been mentioned here and elsewhere, I wish they (Aptera and influencers) would downplay the 1,000 mile capability or at least add the caveat that it's a few years away. They would be encouraging a marketing oush to get the Aptera into the public eye if they were expecting a release in 6-10 months. It's far enough out to build expectations, but not two or three years away.
    On the pther hand, it may simply be that with the Accelerator program ended, they want to keep the publicity going in a new form. But this appears to be focused on sales, while previously the ficus was on investment.

      Other than the Aptera 1000, the others each need one charge stop. There is no way for the Aptera stop to add an hour more for charging than the Model 3. In fact, the Model 3 might realistically need two charge stops. ABRP may be out of date on the Aptera charge rate.

      Would take it with a grain of salt. Aptera hasn't announced the actual DC charging rate (they've said somewhere between 40-60kW) and we don't know what the charging curve will look like (I'd assume very flat considering the low powers).

    • @richardryley3660
      @richardryley3660 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yeah, it's natural to assume that the charging rate is proportional to the battery pack, while it is actually constant. An Aptera is going to get more miles for the same amount of kW, while a pickup truck is going to get far less.
      The 50 kWh estimated for Aptera is 150 kWh for anything else.
      Also I don't know if the route planner is based on filling the battery up instead of just adding enough charge to finish the trip

    I reserved two years ago but just lately I started to realise this is a huge scam.
    I reason to say this is the outlandish way of treating the range yet currently the battery tech won’t allow to put the right amount in the body. Its 5-10kw battery pack fits into this vehicle. It’s a scam. It must be a scam. This is why they don’t have big investment.

    • @n.brucenelson5920
      @n.brucenelson5920 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Do your due diligence. Aptera is using the same 2170 NMC batteries that Tesla is using , but packaging them with even higher energy density and loading them less. The 40 kW plus battery packs fit easily in the Launch edition vehicles.
      Chris Anthony has already co-founded a lithium battery company and taken it pubic ad CEO. Delta Airlines is one of their major companies. He knows as much about battery tech as anyone. It is clearly not a scam, which is why industry leaders all over the world are partnering with them.
      The main reason for large investors not being quick to invest is that the founder learned from their Aptera, Inc. experience with Idealab. They are not willing to give up the control that many large investors are seeking. That will change as investors start to see Aptera as a sure thing.

      @@garywozniak7742 A fair question and I don't. I doubt that Aptera knows at this point. Pricing is very complex with a lot of variables to consider at different weighs and values. Until you have all of the production parts under final supplier agreement and you know the specific terms of those contracts it is not possible to have a reliable price. So there is testing to do and the inevitable changes coming out of testing requiring component supplier contract changes in the supply chain part of pricing, there is no stable price. Then transportation costs for those components need to be finalized based on a production schedule and volume. Aptera is not a high volume product so prices will be higher for the lower volume needed to support production. Then there are fixed costs to be covered. Facilities to include warehouse space for parts and completed vehicles. Shipping cost for the completed vehicles to their destinations. A reserve to cover defects and warranty work. A big one is increased staffing for new services like vehicle financing support, registration, and other additional services associated with support of purchase operations. and an elephant in the room, a relatively large staff increase for production. Of course a management reserve (MY experience around 20%) for unexpected contingencies. and funding to cover taxes and interest. I ran an Aptera pricing exercise through an Analytical Hierarchy Processing (AHP) model we use for pricing runs for my client. There was a lot of variance (Expected at this point). The resulting value range included 37K at an r square of .42. The value is certainly questionable as I don't have access to the real Aptera data.

    Claiming up to 1000 miles isn’t a true statement until proven or built. Sure the math may add up in fluid dynamics but it still needs to be a reality before using it as a sales pitch. They haven’t proved solar charge, range or cooling. They should be saying, “We hope to prove,…” instead until validation results.

      Aptera has been clear that the 1,000-mile-range version is a future product. I have no doubt it will be a reality in the foreseeable future. It's a matter of "when," not "if," since battery energy density is improving.

      The only thing that changes for the 600 and 1000 mile versions is that they use taller battery cells and stiffen the suspension. Nearly everything is identical to the PI builds that they'll be testing, and they've said that the battery suppliers are working on the samples of the taller cells. Personally I see the longer range variants as high probability, but long leadtime since Aptera will focus on 400 and 250 orders first.

      The rate of solar charging is completely independent of the range. If anything, it will take longer to charge the 1000 mile battery because the 40 miles a day is a constant. (Constant maximum, but your yearly mileage based on region should remain the same)
      I suspect that if they fail to hit the 1000 estimate they will decide not to redesign it because who cares if they go 950 miles instead of 1000 miles? But if Aptera wants to have the bragging rights of breaking the 1000 mile barrier, all they have to do is add a small plug-in battery pack.
      Aptera has never claimed that the first model released will go 1000 miles on a charge. Or that you will be able to go 1000 miles on less than $45,000.
