If someone gets out of their car and walks up to yours at a red light, DRIVE! Don’t wait to see what happens. Your passengers life is in your hands. Call the cops but drive off.
Oh hell no. As soon as that dude runs the red light to continue tailing me, I'm on the phone with the cops. I am NOT stopping for anything, I'm staying on the phone with 911, and I'm waiting until I get a police car next to me...
My experience… Picked up a man real late at night. Like a 10 minute drive. He wanted me to drive down a deserted road. I immediately said No. He called someone sounding really shady. He got out the car talking on the phone. Very scared I threw his bag he had out and pulled off. Better safe than sorry. Glad your ok🙏🏾.
Yeah don’t ever just wait for the dude to walk up to your car. This is why I drive in the day time only, people are shady enough as it is but when it’s dark it’s way worse.
One time I had a situation where I had to meet with someone and I didn’t feel safe so I went to the police station. I thought that was a good idea. As soon as we left, that person started following me
Dude, you looked entirely unphased and emotionless. I would've been actively talking to the passenger the entire ride to get to know him as i usually do with passengers. It was adrenaline and during trying to think of how to handle it. I enjoy talking also but sometimes you pick up the vibe they don't want to talk too much and also what happened before hand. The car was there for the house next door so it was this weird interaction. If something like this would to happen again, I would handle it differently.
Yeah, the passenger gave off a “ don’t talk to me” vibe. His response to being asked how his night was going was curt and short. He gave off no friendly indications. I wouldn’t have tried talking to him either.

You snort loose cocaine in my car that I make a living with? GTFOH In retrospect, I don't like how I responded. Adrenaline got the best of me. I should have done my usual of "I heard a weird sound," and pulled into somewhere public and well lit. I get out of the car with my phone and THEN tell them their ride is over, in my "scary manly voice" LOL. I tell them I've already dialed 911 and whether or not I press send is up to them. Anything other than then getting immediately out is followed by pressing send and telling the operator that a passenger has threatened my safety and I think he's about to attack me. (Yes, it's always a guy.) I've had to do this about 10 times in my six years of driving. Quickly reacting to the drugs could have got me attacked from behind or even shot. That's why I'm not entirely happy w/my reaction.
Dude would’ve been looking down the barrel of my gun. I would’ve even rolled the Window down for him and been like “You got a problem?” I don’t play when it comes to that. You wanna play games you’re gonna win the prize
I had the adrenaline rush going through for sure. I knew the spot we were going had a lot of people there so I was going to make it there and see. If it was any other location where it was going to be a house or not a lot of people around then I would have gone to the police as well. Probably would have called mid ride and have them take action during the ride itself.
@@ChrisPza716 Yeah I'm wondering if there was anything you could have done like any area you could have gone to or phoned the police. Being completely dark outside you didn't have many options. Do you think the guy thought you picked up somebody else?
It’s a very tough situation that you think that you might be. Driving for either Uber or Lyft sometimes it gets dangerous, specially when you drive through the inner cities. Thank God nothing happened because some other Uber/Lyft drivers have not been that lucky.
Very true and it's something that hopefully makes others who drive think about these possible situations and how they might handle them if anyone ever finds themselves in it.
And THAT my friend is why you always CARRY. I don't give a damn what Lyft or Uber's rules are. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6! If something HAD OF GONE WRONG you would have had no recourse. Least you can offer some resistance when you are armed.
Hi Chris! That was scary as hell! I had an instance on Bush street in Buffalo where they were blocking the street with cars on each side and like 12 people at least holding me up. I didn’t do anything to intensify the situation. They waved me through, but they were knocking on my car when I was going through. I had a Lyft pickup on Bush street. That was really scary because they could have had weapons. When I picked up my passenger, I said what the f*** are you doing! I was pissed off. Unfortunately, I had to rate that passenger 1 star because I am not dealing with that again.
Wow, sorry that happened as well. At least nothing did happen there for you and were able to make it through. Yes it was scary, same thing though, that guy could have had a gun or anything could have happened.
Real Rideshare Stories Chris, you are safe, so that is all that matters. It could have been different for both of us. Thankfully, everything is o.k. We have a dangerous job helping people.
That’s why I start every shift with a prayer and the sign of the Cross. When finished I thank God for the profits I’ve made that night. We never know when that shift prayer could be our last prayer, either from a wreck or a situation like this!
That was scary AF! Stay safe. Wow! I had a ride request recently with a scheduled stop. I took a guy to the back of a strip mall and he goes over to another car, gives the guy cash and the guy hands him a package. Now I have to drive the guy back to his residence with drugs in the car. WTF! All I could do was 1 star him so I don't have to make that drug run again. Uber will deactivate us on a bullshit story from a pax but I guarantee Uber said nothing to my pax when I reported what happened.
Out of about 2,500 passengers, I have had two that I am 99.99% sure they were drug dealers and had a lot of pot on them! You could smell it! If pulled over by police, I assume the police would arrest us both?? …especially if he threw the pot/drugs on the floor of my car and claimed they weren’t his??
If you wanna know if someone is tailing you, go down one-way streets. Worry about tickets later and if someone is following you, call 911 immediately...
There would be no way i wouldnt be using my concealed carry permit if i was to ever do this kind of thing. Honestly its almost insane to leave home without a firearm to protect yourself and possibly others if the hostile reason presents itself.
In Heinz site now, after he ran that red light & the kid wasn’t getting text messages on his phone like they were planning to Robb you or steal your car, what I’d of done is say hey don’t look back but we’re being followed & I ran that red light to see if they’d & if he tells you honestly no, then you call 911 & keep driving until the dispatcher has you meet up with a cop! That’s what I’d do & I think your smart enough to figure out if he’s lying cuz if they were in on it together then they’d of been texting & I didn’t see him texting @ all so there’s your first sign 2nd, running red light, right after that I’d be asking the rider then calling 911!
Saying you're aware of your surroundings in a shady area is like saying you don't splash too much in shark infested waters. You should never have been there in the first place.
OMG! Chris. I missed this video of yours. How fucking scary indeed. You’re a smart guy. Yes. Always be aware of your surroundings. Why did he get in the front? Did you see what kind of car it was? I’m starting to carry my XD9 with me. A lot of drivers here in LA are now packing. California is getting worse these days.
Thanks and I think it was an accord but that was a while ago now but always paying attention. Yeah be safe, I see you’re back on the road. Have to put your safety first. Yeah I hear it’s bad, same with Chicago and all the car jacking going on. He was in the front seat cause it was pre pandemic and sometimes I don’t mind in the front, even though I prefer the back
I hear you there Maggie and I know a few female drivers that they have to deal with things like getting hit on even more and things like that. Most rides are pretty smooth and it also depends on when you drive. If you drover during the day, the risk for something happening like dealing with throw up or crazies goes down compared to night. Getting hit on by male passengers will happen at any point during the day or night though.
Im a driver. I do not carry cash. My door are locked. Cant get in till you tell my my name. When you get in doors lock. If i hear a door unlock. I will lock it back. And drive away with them inside. I will see you carried by 6 before me. Trust me. I WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE IF YOU F WITH THIS DRIVER.
That's it? Drive a taxi for 30 years in a decent sized city. Get robbed once or twice. Have a gun pointed at you(all things that have happened to me). I agree, that would make anyone nervous, but jeez, nothing happened. Taxis have almost gone away in my town and I now do Uber and Lyft. Thanks for the story and your videos are informative.
Oh trust me, I'm glad it was just that. I would never discredit what you have seen and experienced either. I give you a lot of credit and I have talked with cab drivers who have had similar experiences. Either way, it's still a shock when things happen and it's also a way to help educate safety on the road when driving since many more people can become rideshare drivers and may not realize the risks associated with driving. If you would ever want to share some of your stories from being on the road, please do, I would feature them on the channel
Brad, something did happen. The driver was followed and the person who came up to the window sure wasn't selling girl scout cookies! Even without seeing the passengers face, you can see the passenger was terrified, so it obviously wasn't a friend of the passenger. The only reason "nothing happened" was that the driver was LUCKY. That's it. With all your experience, I'm surprised you would minimize the situation. The point of the video was to show how vulnerable drivers are. The fact that the driver was lucky is beside the point.
Yep, I drove taxis for 30 years. Got robbed, got shot at (unarmed passenger then wanted to chase the person who shot out the window. 'nother story). I was followed one time and when I arrived at the passenger's destination, the guy got out of his pickup and kidnapped my passenger. This was before cell phones. There were people standing there taking a smoke break. I said, 'Don't you think somebody should call the police?' One of the girls said, 'Oh, no. That's just her ex-boyfriend.' Don't these people pay attention to the news? Dispatch contacted police with a plate number. They caught him and he did a year. I don't miss taxi driving. Today I get, 'How's your day?' instead of 'You're just trying to rip me off! You're hitting all the red lights just to run up the meter!' Yeah, sure pal. 16 bucks an hour sitting at a light instead of 70 bucks an hour going 35 mph.
@@alllifeisasong So so so well-put. I commend you for explaining this situation so well to the cabby who thinks because neither men were physically hurt that this was a picnic in the park.
That's crazy. I'm considering driving as a job, but after watching this and another where a driver had a gun to his head... I'm staying clear of the shady areas.
Did you say anything to the rider about the situation after they ran the red light? Did you talk about the incident after the guy approached the vehicle?
He didn't mention if any suspicious person who was gazing at the passenger of the car that the Uber driver was driving, if he was armed with a weapon of any type, like a gun. That would be extremely scary. What could a driver of Uber do if someone that came out of the car was either using a bat, or a gun pointed directly at both the passenger and the Uber driver. I remember one incident at the Sharon Height Parking lot in, Stanford, California, that there were a armed group of druggies doing their illegal business, and I recalled seeing a plains clothed man holding a rifle of some kind, and I nearly went crazy over seeing something like that, while my mom was stuck in the store worrying about me just in case if that man, holding a gun was brazen enough to blow my brain clearly out of the Toyota hatchback i was in. Or it might have been a kidnapping attempt, a hostage attempt or an attempt at a robbery, I don't remember though.
I'm glad nothing ever came of that situation. Here in NYC there area certain areas that I know more or less to stay away from because shady shit goes down in certain areas more than others so I personally rather drive off empty than deal with the nonsense.
Same here. Yeah NYC is much different. Glad you’re staying safe out there as well. Do you drive in all the boroughs or mostly stick in one or two? I was in the bronx for a little while but never drove there because of all of the regulations
This last Sunday, I got pinned near grape street and 103rd Street, in Los Angeles. This area is better known as Watts. As I waited for my passenger to come out someone decided to start shooting. I simply didn’t think twice and left the scene.
Thanks, I also appreciate the videos you post. As drivers we are on our own out there. Sharing your videos does help to prepare for certain situations. 👍🏽
Wwwooooww 😲 You definitely weren't over exaggerating about being freaked out! I'm so glad you're okay! A lot of customers I have asked me or somehow make reference, about me being a female driver and my vampire working hours... Trust your gut! I've only had one issue with a drunk female . Knock on wood . I'm not scared at all to drive at night but at the same time, it only takes that one time. This video freaked me out!!! Thank you for posting. I needed to be freaked out a bit! gotten too lackadaisical, stay alert , stay alive!
I always pay attention to the area I’m in and how many stars the rider has. I carry on me, so if something were to happen, I can protect myself, but it’s crazy who gets in your car
SOLUTION: If you feel your being FOLLOWED by another car or person as your driving Flash your brights as your driving, A Police officer will look at it as you need assistance and will pull you over as well as anyone else over, This happened to me few years ago. I had 4 witnesses in my car, the other driver got arrested. End of story!
That's messed up. I just completed my 7th drive, guy missed his train and had to be driven 40 minutes one way @ 12:30AM. The guy was actually really cool, sat in the front seat which kind of threw me off at first but we talked about how he came to the country I live in 4 years ago, how much he loves it here, what he does for a living, etc. Asked if he wanted any music put on so I let google play music play what he wanted, showed him the vol + and - buttons and say play it as loud as you want because I have a complete aftermarket system and the guy was mind blown by the stereo. Awesome drive. Didn't like the 40minutes part but whatever, felt good to get someone home who was effectively stranded by missing the last train (and I was just on my normal 10 minute commute home from work)
Wait so what happened after? Did they just stop following you? And what about the passenger, did he say anything? I’m glad nothing happened to you. I just wish you could’ve told us what happened after that interaction…
Very possible. Scary out there sometimes. Hopefully that wasn’t the case but unfortunately it’s a real possibility and I’m just glad it didn’t happen that way
This is why I always leave space between myself and the car in front of me in certain areas in buffalo, just in case I see the set up coming I can just fucking floor it, even if that means running a light. Besides the fact that everyone should have a concealed weapon on themselves.
@@ChrisPza716 I didn't even know there was an uber event actually. I'm not an uber driver, but a now and then uber user. I just know from my job as an exterminator i do quite a bit of driving and know it's good to be prepared and on guard of course.
I'm in New Jersey brother and I don't do shady areas ,I do the western part of Jersey..and if I pick up a nurse or someone going down to a shady area I make that my last run...and go back west..I'd rather drive 15 miles and have all smiles than stay in a shady area and never leave ...sad fact but true...they probably wanted that guy ,he's looking around like crazy at that red light..
Keep your safety in mind for sure. In this case, I'm not sure if he knew them or not because he was confused as to someone was standing right there. Either way, real messed up. Be safe out there!
Yeah, you never know! Could have gone horribly wrong! Which is why as an American you're allowed to carry a firearm. Why would you not want every means possible to defend yourself?
Maybe the guy was visiting someone’s wife or girlfriend? lol I’m glad you are okay and just trying to make sense of those actions… just weird he looked into the car and immediately left without saying or doing anything. It’s a really good thing you were hyper vigilant.
That was definitely not what's up. Looks like they thought that guy was someone else and kept walking. Be really careful out there and keep your carry and conceal with you. I've heard many stories here in Milwaukee and these people will do wtf ever these days
Are you allowed to carry weapons? Peoper spray, gun, etc..to defend yourself? It's your car, right? So if you have a concealed or open carry permit are you allowed to be armed while driving?
TOS for both Uber and Lyft say no weapons allowed but if you have a ccw then it's up to you to carry or not. Just be careful no one sees it to make a report. Better to be able to protect yourself and find a new side gig if needed than not have something.
I agree. Even fb, Twitter went to congress to talk to them when questioned. Congress really needs drivers there to talk about the real issues instead of making policy based on what they think would work having no insight besides them taking one or two as a passenger.
Jeez. You rideshare boyz, and these days I'm one of you. Imagine having a passenger say, "You all got time for five slugs in the back of yo head?" Then there was the guy who ended up telling me how much he enjoyed feeling the life leave the body of his homicide victim, and then wouldn't get out of my cab. Or the guy who told me he was going to execute five people that night, and hoped I was there. I won't even go into the many crack runs I did as a taxi driver. You wanna talk about people coming up to your car? People who would give you a peak of the AR-15 they had under their long coat. Rideshare is the safest form of taxi driving today.
Wow, you've got some crazy stories from the cab days. Glad you are safe. Yeah, rideshare is much safer overall, I'll absolutely agree there. A few cab drivers I had told me some crazy stories as well.
Would suggest self defense tools And don’t do questionable pick ups if anything tips you off just drive off. For example I will not pick up at strip clubs bars and other places of black repute.
I had one scary ride on a dark & stormy night, coming back in from a long ride out to the exurbs. Pickup location turned out to be s liquor store. Rider, very tall, mid 30s maybe? walked like he was drunk, and had an open beer in hand. I don’t know what was wrong with me- I let him in the car. Off we go- it’s a pretty long ride in the direction I want to go, but it’s raining like whoa and I’m nervous about the rider, who is at first very quiet. He starts humming, then talking, but I realize he’s quoting bible phrases. This is fine, sort of. Most religious folk are sincere, but I’m not keen on end-times nor hellfire talk. Well, his rambling veers in that direction, and I realize that he’s crying. I said some vague reassuring thing and then he says “I love you, really, like you are a GOOD person.” I’m getting freaked out now! It seems like forever but we finally near his destination. I’ve kept up the reassuring talk about how god loves us all, and wants us to be happy. He said “I love you” a few more times, then I dropped him off. As he left the car he says to me in a very sober voice “thank you, seriously thank you. I tried not to speed away. It may be there was no danger, and just my mind making up stories in the dark, but I normally trust my gut. Next time, someone visibly drunk with open booze won’t get in my car.
Wow. Not sure if that’s scary or not but glad nothing happened. Kinda reminds me of the movie “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle” when the tire breaks and someone real creepy picks them up. Funny scene. Yeah always trust your gut and in any circumstances where you feel something strange just always be on alert and aware!
i had a couple of ride share stories. i was driving people when the fires broke out in los angeles and Malibu. i picked up a rider from Calabasas and was taking her to Los Angeles international airport and as we reached the 405 we got cought in the middle of the brush fire on the freeway, theres was no way to turn around because the fire department had closed off the freeway going the opposite direction lucky i got her to the airport safe and took me 4 hours to get back home every freeway i took was traffic jam.then then few weeks later i got caught in the Malibu canyon fire try to locate riders after answering a request which i should of refused. the police and fire department were already at their location but closed the freeway so i went the backroads through Mulholland and soon as i got to Malibu cayon both sides of the road were in flames and i was only one traveling on that road, lucky the fire trucks were behind me and when i arrived to my riders they said all the uber drivers they called before me had refused to get them and i was crazy enough to get them.if they only knew what danger i put myself to get them.
Damn. I'll use the word hero here and that you were. You literally saved those people and that's awesome to hear. If you want to share these stories on a video or a podcast style call, I would love for you to share them as a video. Were you driving this year when the new fires popped up? Be safe out there and again, good job.
I don't understand ...... You knew it was the same car,you knew he ran the red light, now you know he's on your ass and now a guy is getting out of the car. Why not run the red light to leave before the guy could make it to your passenger door? Either way....something's off in the story,meaning...The people in the other car have already seen who got into your car. If they wanted him,the could have gotten to him before he got in your car.
They could have seen him before but it's also in the middle of the night and if you only see a shadow of a person and not sure then you would want to check. In why I didn't run the red light is because the person got out of the car and was in my blind spot so I didn't see him until he was at the side of the car.
Oh no, I hope that interaction had ended ok? If you want to record yourself talking about what happened and send it my way, I would like to feature your story and help other stay aware of things to watch out for.

Most apps like pandora or Jango or even the music app on your phone should allow you to play music and TH-cam red via usb, Bluetooth or on the background of the phone while you are using it including the driver apps for Uber and Lyft. @@ChrisPza716 Yeah I'm wondering if there was anything you could have done like any area you could have gone to or phoned the police. Being completely dark outside you didn't have many options. Do you think the guy thought you picked up somebody else?
I’m not sure. I’m assuming they thought it was someone else. Not sure though.
Exactly! and yes we do.
That’s why I start every shift with a prayer and the sign of the Cross. When finished I thank God for the profits I’ve made that night. We never know when that shift prayer could be our last prayer, either from a wreck or a situation like this!
The passenger was mistaken identity
That was scary AF! Stay safe. Wow! I had a ride request recently with a scheduled stop. I took a guy to the back of a strip mall and he goes over to another car, gives the guy cash and the guy hands him a package. Now I have to drive the guy back to his residence with drugs in the car. WTF! All I could do was 1 star him so I don't have to make that drug run again. Uber will deactivate us on a bullshit story from a pax but I guarantee Uber said nothing to my pax when I reported what happened.
Wow, that's crazy. What area do you drive around?
Out of about 2,500 passengers, I have had two that I am 99.99% sure they were drug dealers and had a lot of pot on them! You could smell it! If pulled over by police, I assume the police would arrest us both?? …especially if he threw the pot/drugs on the floor of my car and claimed they weren’t his??
@@palikariatl and that's what they would do if you were pulled over. All they have to say is "not mine" and them + the driver go to jail.
Yeah it could of went real wrong cause you stayed there and just looked at the guy smh
If you wanna know if someone is tailing you, go down one-way streets. Worry about tickets later and if someone is following you, call 911 immediately...
Wow. I would have been a mess. Glad you are ok.
Thanks
There would be no way i wouldnt be using my concealed carry permit if i was to ever do this kind of thing. Honestly its almost insane to leave home without a firearm to protect yourself and possibly others if the hostile reason presents itself.
Thanks for the video! Education
Hi what kind of dash cam you have the quality is very good?
Tips for you: your car is your best defense , u could have driven off when he got out and approached and backed up into the vehicle behind you
Saying you're aware of your surroundings in a shady area is like saying you don't splash too much in shark infested waters.
He was in the front seat cause it was pre pandemic and sometimes I don’t mind in the front, even though I prefer the back
I may start doing this but after a lot of the stories I have heard I will be working from 4AM to 7 or 8 PM no weekends night or drunks.
Damn that's all it takes to get u shook ?? Dont ever come to Phoenix AZ cuz you'd be a nervous wreck every day
I would never do this job. It;s this hard for guys, imagine the danger for female uber drivers. Let along ppl throwing up in your clean car. No way!
But I thought females were equal to males
Hey Uber and Lyft passengers if you're by yourself get in the backseat don't get in the front seat with the driver that's when the suspicion grows
Yeah it's definitely preferred.
I drove a taxi for 10 years. And you know that could have been bad

So so so well-put. I commend you for explaining this situation so well to the cabby who thinks because neither men were physically hurt that this was a picnic in the park.
New drinking game: take a shot every time he says "soooooooo...."
*don't do while driving*
If you’re approached at a light, DRIVE OFF as safe as possible but hit shit if you have to
Wonder if they were looking for someone I hope he doesn't get hurt. Glad you were safe and smart
This last Sunday, I got pinned near grape street and 103rd Street, in Los Angeles. This area is better known as Watts. As I waited for my passenger to come out someone decided to start shooting. I simply didn’t think twice and left the scene.
Oh wow. Glad you are ok!
I’m glad it turned out okay and you both are safe. That was some seriously sketchy stuff.
Do not drive at night! I wouldn't no way you can't clearly see the passenger or what they are doing!
Yeah, going into them shady areas almost got you shot. Quit messing around and don't go back to those places. Is your life worth an Uber fare?
So glad u both are ok!

The dude 100% had a gun in his pocket and if the passenger woulda been a target Chris could have potentially lost his life

Good to know. Thanks.
Didn't like the 40minutes part but whatever, felt good to get someone home who was effectively stranded by missing the last train (and I was just on my normal 10 minute commute home from work)
Nice, those are the fun rides.
Man I feel for you. I can tell that definitely shook you up.
Dude . Just do not go to the ghetto area man. Thanks God your ok ... if I was you I would just go offline when you get to those bad neighborhood.
Glad you were ok. Stay safe out there
Wait so what happened after? Did they just stop following you? And what about the passenger, did he say anything? I’m glad nothing happened to you. I just wish you could’ve told us what happened after that interaction…
The good thing is they made sure that was or was not the person they were looking for. You both dodged a bullet that night. Please be safe
Wow looks to me like he wanted to I.D the passenger in your car before firing!
I hear you there on both points. Did you go to the Uber event the other day?
@@ChrisPza716 I didn't even know there was an uber event actually. I'm not an uber driver, but a now and then uber user. I just know from my job as an exterminator i do quite a bit of driving and know it's good to be prepared and on guard of course.
@@mynameismud888 Oh ok gotcha. Yeah always good to be prepared.
Don't think rider was in on it, he looked confused af too! Scary, glad you're ok!
Yeah that's what I thought also. He didn't seem to be part of that at all. Thanks, same here. Just always be aware of your surroundings.
How come the driver is always defenseless and very vulnerable from the driver position??
Yeah, you never know! Could have gone horribly wrong! Which is why as an American you're allowed to carry a firearm. Why would you not want every means possible to defend yourself?
exactly and it would only make sense. Just keep it nice and hidden unless needed.
Maybe the guy was visiting someone’s wife or girlfriend? lol I’m glad you are okay and just trying to make sense of those actions… just weird he looked into the car and immediately left without saying or doing anything. It’s a really good thing you were hyper vigilant.
Glad you're safe, lots of crazy situations out there.
Thanks. Same here. Could have been way worse but still was pretty crazy
That was definitely not what's up. Looks like they thought that guy was someone else and kept walking. Be really careful out there and keep your carry and conceal with you. I've heard many stories here in Milwaukee and these people will do wtf ever these days
Yeah it’s messed up and always gotta protect yourself. Be safe also!
Glad you OK.
Uber and Lyft should not blow off Congress. Why they did so remains to be seen, but they need to be held accountable for their actions.
Why did he sit in front seat? That’s odd right off the bat.
