As an XL driver I get this all the time , trying to fit 7 when 6 is my limit.
The reason for this policy is SAFETY.
Here's what I say, " No , I'm sorry everyone of my passengers MUST have a seatbelt , No I can't take extra money this is not about money it's about SAFETY and I care about your safety ".
It works like a charm because they cant insult you for caring about them.
That’s a good one! People can’t argue there at all.
Dope response!! 😉👏🏽 Gonna use it! 👍🏽
Somehow, I think they’ll still argue..lol. Hard to win with the “indestructible youth” as they see themselves.. I mean, what could happen!? 😰 If they only knew.
@@Monica-vc3tu I speak from experience and the most effective reply for me has been SAFTY FIRST , it's works like a charm DRUNK or SOBER I get no negative response.
Hope it works for others as it has for me.
Paul Figueroa Good to hear. Stay safe out there. :)
When someone tells me don’t be that guy; sorry I kick them out. Disrespect upfront Isn’t cool.
True. It's not at all.
Real Rideshare Stories - I would reply, “ Don’t YOU be that guy/girl!!! 🤨 Or, “Don’t have to, you already are being THAT guy”!! 😂
I would say that it depends on the tone they’re using whether or not it’s disrespectful.
Your passenger on 5/11 at 01:43am, really called it . . . "Call XL!" In these situations, rather than just saying, "Nope, can't do it." Suggest XL!
Approach all stops with locked doors
Oh yeah!
Its also a problem for xl rides too. I drive a minivan and I've had more than a few riders try to fit 7 people in the van. This video sums up the different reactions that Ive had when I won't let them overcrowd.
How was the first one a scam? That was the nicest cleanest get out I've ever seen. Lol. They probably legit didn't know, Glad you still took the 3
Devonte the scam was trying to get more people in the car than what they requested.
That's not a scam. They didnt try to deceive him or convince him. He told them the rules and they just accepted it. No scam there
They may not be scamming him directly. But they are attempting to “scam” the system by ordering an x ride instead of an xl.
I really wouldn't say the guy who said "sorry for your trouble" was trying to scam you
Well he also didn’t order the ride. Another person did who when his friends called him out was pretty ashamed of himself for it knowing he was trying to cut corners
First two seemed pretty genuine. First one sounded like they either were oblivious to the rule, or forgot after having a few. Second group seems like he messed up and ordered the wrong one. I could just be too trusting though.
"We'll tip you heavily.. heavily" probably means $5 to them. Lol
Think you've misunderstood the word "scam"
How so?
I think attempt to get him to “break road rules” and/or “company policy”, not a scam- much like the alcohol.
A scam would be trying to defraud him.
@@Monica-vc3tu well it is a scam but not a scam on him.if you dont order a xl and try to get 5 ppl in his car is a scam because a xl is more expensive
That is exactly what I was thinking: it's not a "scam" it's someone trying to break the rules. A "scam" denotes that the person being scammed is NOT aware of it until AFTER or DURING the fact. This driver is well aware that these people are trying to get another rider shoved in from the very beginning.
@Ruru Home You can be aware of a scam, I agree. But usually, you aren't at the time of it's beginning. That's all I'm sayin'. Have a good one.
1st clip-I think he was asking if you’d “ take one more”, he meant one more than you would normally allow ( as in seatbelts). So I don’t think he was trying to scam you. He seemed quite nice.
Maybe you need to understand what the driver meant. Dude knew when he called the lift, that he was going to try to get more in , really 😅
@@davidrudd3641 The POINT that I was making a year ago was, even if he knew what the max seat allowance was, he was being nice and at least ASKING. Most likely knowing that the answer would be, "No". That's why he accepted the drivers answer with no problem. He wasn't trying to "scam" anyone. Really!😂
I've gone through the same situations and again you are in control. It's not worth it. Good job. Only money you should receive is a tip. Nothing more.
Exactly. Last night I was out and some girls tried pulling the same thing and then got rude about it. Rolled up the window and left. Gonna cost them more cause now they have to order a xl but also a $5 cancellation fee (and a report to Uber). Learn the hard way!
I’ve only had a few times riders tried to cram more than one and I refused. There was at least 3 times they tried and the account holder took my side and agreed no more than 4. And another time twice in one day when I was renting an XL vehicle with Getaround, One buyer said they were able to do seven the last one and I told her you can only do seven if you get a vehicle I can come earlier but I can only take six and she actually entitled and I refuse to take her and the group. And later passenger texted me telling me there’s seven of them including a little baby that she’s gonna hold onto her lap and I told her now and I just cancel that ride and I was able to report it to Uber and I still got compensated for it too.
That’s good it hasn’t happened too much. It’s going to depend on the market. College kids and groups will try and cram in often. That is baffling with the woman and her child... why do we have to care about their kids safety more than them? Crazy
Luckily, I've NEVER had More than Can fit Try to squeeze in Car. Once at Airport, it was a Group of 5 and they claimed Fault for Not Ordering a Big Car.
Hopefully you won't have to then. That's good they said it was their fault. Did they cancel it then?
Here is another tip, Be careful that Lyft or Uber does not deactivate you for posting rides. They did that to me very recently, because I had posted a video of a driver who continues to harass me at the local airport, and posted it as private, then no response to it, then I posted it as unlisted on TH-cam, and that is when they deactivated me. I am in the process of getting a restraining order against 2 drivers, and possibly more for terrorist threats towards me, unsafe behavior, and slander towards me on social media. Please learn from my experiences. I had to tell them that I would not post any videos of rides, but that is to not say that I will not send them rides of passengers trying to scam me.
Oh wow. sorry to hear that's going on. I hope it gets sorted out and all is ok.
What's funny is I have an XL and they still pull this. I say, "You ordered an X," and they're like "but you have 7 seats." Yes, so you have to order an XL so that I get paid for what it's worth." They then come with, "We'll tip you." Only on one occasion I did it because it was 12 degrees out and the bar they were at closed, we were all freezing. I should have told them to walk to the ATM and order the XL. Uber did pay me more, though, but it just wasn't worth it in the end. Also, they never tipped what they promised, so it's so nice to be able to do UberEats for the past three years. I only pick up people during inclimate weather (rain, snow or freezing temps) because the demand is up. And with my large car, the smaller cars go of the rode. I don't pick up people as much anymore. Thank you for blurring their faces for privacy but also sharing the experience.
"Dont be that guy" you mean dont be the guy that follows the rules?
Exactly.
I drove for Lyft for a year in 2016 in both LA and LV. I never really quoted policy as much as I quoted the law. "I can only take 4 of you because there are only 4 seatbelts and everyone needs to buckle up." I would back that up with "if I get pulled over for any reason and the cop sees that there are too many riders, I will get a ticket....." People tend to better understand when you quote the law rather than just quoting Lyft/Uber policy which means nothing to them. Although the law means nothing to most of them either.
Another thing I see on all of these kinds of videos is that 3 adults in a back seat (I drove a Corolla) are too big to be able to buckle up so we know the person in the middle doesn't buckle up for sure and it's a crapshoot if the other 2 pax buckle up. That's also a ticketable offense not to mention a liability if you get into an accident and there are injuries involved.
Yeah I’ve tried that with the law and safety and some just don’t care. It’s pretty crazy that they would risk it. With regards to the seat belts. Yeah that’s a safety issue but if you have dash camera footage of the driver asking them to put seat belts on and are they on, that should be enough to take liability off cause as a driver, you can’t buckle them in.
@@ChrisPza716 The issue was so many people got upset that I wouldn't take them if there was no car seat for a toddler. I was the bad guy who by the way seemed to care more about their child than I did. Thanks for your reply!
Oh I hear you there... it’s sad how people put their kids at risk and then get mad at you for saying no.....
Groups of young women are hands down, consistently the worst scenario in rideshare.
They’re rude and you can’t say anything back to them or put them in their place. I bet if you did the research you would find that young women are responsible for most deactivations.
I’d agree with that. Especially in college. You can put them in their place by canceling, low rating, and canceling midride and making a report to Uber/Lyft. Make sure you have a dash camera if they try anything you have the proof right there.
On the flip side, they usually provide the most entertainment and usually are pretty fun when those rides are going well.
Check out this scam.
I responded to a shared ride request the female passenger did not input that she had a second passenger I told her to ad him but she told me she didn't have enough funds to ad another person so she sent her friend instead of her,and I drove off right before getting to the destination like 3 blocks before she cancelled the ride so I literally drove the guy to the destination for free. I asked Lyft why was the passenger able to cancel when I had arrived and accepted the ride, the passenger should not be able to cancel with out getting charged if they're already in your vehicle
Lyft gave me a cancelation fee of 5 bucks but if the ride had been longer 5 bucks wouldn't have been enough
I told the guy to get off my car immediately as soon as she canceled
Sorry to hear, yeah that one does happen still somehow. Passengers canceling mid ride has been an issue. Hopefully this never happens to you again but if it does and you see they cancelled the ride, pull over and let that person out. They are no longer your passenger and you aren't getting paid for that ride.
Moral of the story, young drunk college kids are the absolute worst passengers.
When you drive XL, college kids are even worse. They will try to squeeze 8-9.
If you aren’t mature enough to understand risk/reward and the actual law then I don’t want to drive you.
Cancel and say too many passengers every time.
Yeah, they can be really bad at times especially after the party gets broken up and they are drunk without knowing how alcohol affects them. Yeah, it's gotta be harder to figure out how many are coming in and easier to sneak in extra. I feel ya
Why is the passenger sitting in the front always the loudest?
Because they are sitting in the front? Besides, I'm not sure...
my educated guess... the mic is closer ?
Right the problem when you don't cancel those Is the rating issue. Every time I've taken a wry where I've asked people to get out of the car I've always gotten a low rating from them.
Yeah you do risk it but the other 100 or 500 rides that are nearly all 5 stars make that rating a washout.
@@ChrisPza716 Yeah I hear you but I finally got back to a 4.99
494 5🌟and 6 4🌟
Then the collage kids came back 4 trips in one night tried to over fill my XL 2 gave me 1🌟 and 1 a 3🌟. Lil bitches
I mean I would think that’s the whole purpose of having the dash cam pointing at everybody inside the car that’s riding with you.
If they give you a low rating bc you kicked them out, then as long as it was for a legit reason that they caused, you can just submit the footage to show that they were the ones at fault and not you, then maybe corporate can adjust your rating or delete that ride altogether.
🤷🏼♂️
I don't let anyone in my car until everyone is ready!
That’s a good thing to do.
Happens alot folk putting more than they paid for
When I was a rookie driver, I picked up an XL load of bachelorettes in Scottsdale, daylight, glitter that I still vacuum, and when they left I saw 7 of the prettiest butts. Never knew that I had one too many.
Oh yeah I’m sure they sneak that number 7 in often. It’s hard to see and make sure as they are getting in if they are hiding from you.
You must pay close attention to how many people is getting in your car.
I live in Vermont and we do not have this service. The cabs stop at 6 pm and the buses at 7 pm. No buses on the weekend as well. I am from RI where we have buses until 1 am and cabs 24/7. I would think that only three people could be in that car but how would I know?
The number of people who don’t regard their children as a needing a seat is appalling. Once had a job booked for 8, turns out there were 11. Unbelievable!
Remember to check seatbelts.
Wondering what gives this guy the idea he can just bring alcohol into someones car to begin with! (AND without even asking)
IMO, that in itself is an idiot that shows no respect toward yourself as the driver and the laws that prohibit this behavior!
Oh it’s so annoying. Happens way too often. Gotta shut them down every time. Not sure why they think it’s legal to begin with...
i would allow drinks in my car... stop being so anel about something so petty
Artyom Arty open ALCOHOLIC drinks are illegal to have in your vehicle.
They apologized and even gave you some money for your trouble as they parted ways 6:50 but you're going to say they tried to scam you and failed? That sounds like a polite misunderstanding to me, and you still made money from it, plus you also ended up taking the ride? Yeah, that's a real scam.
EXACTLY. He's fishing for content.
That was cool you waited for the girls other Uber.
Thanks, yeah I try to offer that out so they can all get to where they are going around the same time and are safe as well
I did that too. When groups didn't order right size car, I waited til all of group was Picked up. It's IDIOTIC.
These aren’t scams bro
You'll be asked to extend the ride or make extra stops or pickups at no extra charge. I always tell them they need to add multiple stops on the app or I can't do it. I will also refuse to modify the trip if I have already accepted another incoming ride request. Another of my pet peeves is picking up at a gated apartment complex where you need a gate code and you can't get them to reply to your text. Especially when you have cars behind you at the gate. It's very rude. I just cancel those trips.
Two walked, but three rode? Lazy asses.
Haha and it was right down the street and a nice night for a quick walk like that.
where did you get scammed?
It’s a bit of a stretch to call people wanting to put an extra person in the car and then cooperating when told no a scam. I just wish people would read the app and be more informed and consider the insurance implications. The whole, “awe come on man can’t you just squeeze one more in” has got to be annoying.
They’re all so LOUD.
Oh yeah. That’s not the loudest either. Two girls were shrieking like whoa, calm down we’re in a car...
If you state "I can only take four passengers," I would look around count myself and 3 others, all equaling "four." I would NOT understand that you were counting yourself as the fourth passenger. Bus drivers can have so many passengers and they don't count themselves as they are the "driver." It think it would be easier if you stated; "I can take 3 passengers only." Again, you're the driver.
The other issue I have with most driving services on You Tube anyway, is that I rarely see passengers buckle up. That's the reason that Arizona and California allow as many passengers as there are seat belts. I've never seen a driver turn around an tell his passengers to Buckle-Up.
Well pre covid, you can take as many people you have as seatbelts so thats 4 riders and then the driver, 5. Since covid changed the policy, now it’s 3 riders at least for the foreseeable future.
When it comes to seatbelts, yeah it’s good to be buckled in but in some areas there isn’t a law in the back seat. In NY the back seat law of going in effect on Sunday Nov 1 but before that, it’s not a law. After the date. I’ll be telling people to buckle. Same way if they are in the front and don’t (at least I blame it on my car which will yell at them with a beep)
and another thing youre so worried about "the rules" but you take cash tips lol
Yes and ur not suppose to take cash
I need a dash cam. I dropped a guy off at St. Christopher hospital in Philly and his son was having an asthma attack in the back. Sir, I feel bad but I'm not an ambulance. Had a nerve to tell me to drive better because I missed the exit to the lot. He said "I'm from the hood, you're luck you didnt have someone that would get mad. One G to another."
It was enough to make me avoid N. Philly riders
I'm aware that this isnt a scam but still a lyft story
Whoa, sorry to hear, glad you were safe from that and it didn't go in another direction.
Thank GOD I don't have to deal with this BS. I dont know how I did it
A while back,
2 individuals a man and a woman
got in my car
And HALFWAY down the trip,
they wanted me to cancel the ride,
So the girl and the guy got off
but
I DIDN'T cancel.
INSTEAD
I CONTINUED WITHOUT

I don't let no one Fool me.
I'll get mines:
one way or the other..
Lol, be careful with that though. They could call in and say they wanted out before.
Would much rather watch without the commentary 😂😂
I love when these dipshits try to bribe you with WAY more than what a second Uber or Lyft would cost. That happens to me more than a low baller.
Yeah right, so true. They don't use their minds too much then...
One time somebody tried fitting nine people In an UberX canceled so quickly you say goodbye crazy people
Damn.... please tell me you drive a corolla or something smaller. That would have been even better. I don’t get people sometimes....
@@ChrisPza716 no I have a Chevy Malibu
It’s because people don’t care. They try to do anything to save money. Just simply cancel and collect your 5 and move on
I drive in Buffalo New York too and people here are freaking insane and always trying to take advantage of each other and just generally awful people...
Some yes, most are pretty cool though. Awesome your in Buffalo also!
@@ChrisPza716 haha far and few between and I know right! I love your channel I was so excited when I figured out you were in Buffalo too and that I wasn't alone in the struggle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha. Nice!
@@ChrisPza716 it used to happen to me all the time in New Orleans.
I took my first and as of yet, only Uber ride a month ago as my car's battery finally gave up the ghost. I was going to meet a friend and it was 13 miles away, so not a long ride. The driver didn't talk during the ride, nor did I save for the initial meeting and my telling him it was my first and just asked if I could tip cash instead of via the app as I didn't want to make a mistake. So when we arrived I gave him a $10 bill for a tip and he seemed happy then. I wonder what would the average tip for a comparable ride usually be? I generally try to tip well.
Anything is always nice and appreciated. The amount is up to you as a passenger. For the talking or no talking, each driver/passenger is different.
Most riders do not tip. For me, on average, only about 25%, could be higher or less on certain days, tip. $10 is nice tip for a short ride. For me, for short rides I wouldn't have a problem with $5 tip per passenger, but most don't tip at all. One time, on a short trip, I assisted the passenger with her rolling bag, and she left me a tip of .50 cents. Yes, a half-dollar! I don't assist with bags too much anymore.
Don't tell them it's against the rules, IT'S AGAINST THE LAW. No more passengers than available seat belts.
Shew I'd be way too scared to take on a job like this
It can be but for the most part most rides go off without any problem. Also day versus night helps but yeah there can be some crazy rides.
@@ChrisPza716 I was curious about it when it first came out, but then people told me I couldn't carry and i was like.....well nahhh
Why do Uber/Lyft drivers insist on saying "can only take 4 passengers" you're picking up 3 people (3 seatbelts) not 4.
There are a total of 5 seatbelts, so the driver uses one and he can fit 4 others. One in the front and 3 in the back.
karlwjm What?....
ive rode in dozens of ubers as a passenger and i never knew that you cant have more than 4. Itsnot a scam, its just people not knowing all your rules. You seem like a rude driver. Is it that difficult to just say "hey bro, you probably dont know this but I can get fined if I have 5 passengers and I already have a fine so please make it 4 or less"
I mean, would you in any other interaction ever say something like that to a human? Imagine you are a waiter and you see 5 people coming in and you only have 4 chairs, would you without saying hi, just rudely say " Nooope, cant take it. Nope. Only 4".
How do you not know? It says 4 right beside uberx when you order the ride. It's against the law to have more people than are seatbelts in the vehicle. A driver is liable for everything in the car and you could be fined 500 dollars for having too many passengers. Not to mention what would happen in an accident to the person you squeezed in.
The Rideshare Ginger not everyone sees what it says. Some people notice it, some don’t waste more than 5 seconds in the Uber app. And I perfectly know that 5 passengers is illegal, but that is irrelevant so I don’t know why you’re writing a lecture about that. The point is that not every customer knows you can’t have over 4 passengers.
Dude, those aren't scams. Scams are when PAX try to screw you, like cancelling mid-ride. If you consider a bunch of young people trying to see if they can squeeze an extra person in as a scam, then we have different definitions of that word. You told them no. None of them got belligerent. It was really a whole bunch of nothing. At the worst, you shuffle, take your cancellation fee and move on. If that's the worst problem you're going to have on a given night driving RS, I'll take that any day.
cboy4 I also think of it as a scam.
I had 5 approach my car.. I told them.. only 4.. they said..ok, no problem! then 4 got in the car.. and the 5th..sat on her bf's lap...sitting directly behind me.. thinking ..I would not see.. since she was blocking his head..I asked them how they got into college without being able to count? They said oh.. its easy entry. I told them to get out of my car.. they did, then stood in front of it so i could not leave.. I waited for them to move.. then suddenly they grabbed the door handle to get back in, I guess they worked it out, but I had locked it..it wasnt worth it to me, a low rating and some disrespectful brats.. and just wanted to cancel it.. so I wagged my finger, like nahhh... and they started slapping and kicking my car.. I pulled away.. no damage to the car... I canceled and left.. they were so pissed!
Wow, sorry to hear. Did you report them? I wouldn't have taken the ride either, not worth it at that point at all.
The issue is the entitlement. If they want to add on or something happens people understand. Like that one dude that messed up a hospital address. He was 2 min away. Screwed Ir up because he was upset. No big deal. Brought him over because his friend was dying. Like those people deserve help. But dbags that want a freebie no one cares
I don't see how you can call the 5 passenger thing a scam? They seemed like they just didn't know your vehicle limit and were fine with that. Hell those guys actually gave you a cash tip.
It is because an uber x or lyft reg ride is only 1-4 people which states on the app. They are trying to pay for the cheapest ride even though they know it's in the wrong. It happens all too often. That was nice that he gave the tip for inconvenience but still isn't going to be worth it if they tried getting the ride if there is an accident or cop pulling you over.
Is there some policy for having that camera filming the interior of the vehicle?
Uber permits drivers to have cameras to record and document their rides. It's on their website. Also, most jurisdictions permit drivers to record, but some require a notification to the passengers that they're being recorded. Not all require this notification, though, so it varies by jurisdiction. I recently got my camera, and I have notices facing outward and some inward, so they know they're being recorded.
Who else is that one guy at 6:25 paying for the trouble cause you actually gaf?
A random person in their party. Wasn’t the person who ordered but part of their conversation was they should have made sure to order an xl. Pretty cool of that person though
Do you go by the rules when you pull up your doors are locked and do you ask them if they are having more than four people
Hell yeah I do. I don’t know who they are when walking to my car so it’s easier to find out before letting them in and I’m not getting a ticket that I have to pay for when people who want to break the law and be unsafe. (More than 4, alcohol, etc)
Is a passenger bringing alcohol into a/uber car not allowed?
Lyft prohibits alcohol in any car by any passenger and Uber says whatever is in accordance with the law. So some areas where it’s ok for passengers to bring alcohol in the car then it would be ok but if you live in one of those areas, know local laws can differ from town to town. It’s easiest to say no alcohol in the car and most states and areas do not allow open containers of alcohol in the car at all.
The second video you said that they canceled and you got your $5. Why I never get the 5 myself when I get cancelations? Normally I only get $2.46
They changed the cancel fee recently.
@@ChrisPza716 too bad my brother. Thank you for your response, have a great day and God Bless
How are these scams? It seems like they're just trying to bend the rules.
Maybe XL costs more ?
Please answer. Is alcohol not a good idea?
No it’s not.
None of those were attempted scams bro
I would love to see you pick someone up as "Joe", lol. (for real) but that may also be a bad thing for you to do and risk business. It was just a passing thought. Stay safe out there brother!
That would be awesome but yeah it’s hard when my name pops up Chris in their app. Lol.
@@ChrisPza716 oh, ok, did not know. I never used these services. Thanks for the info.
I didn't see any attempted scams.
Trying to fit more people than allowed is a scam because the appropriate ride, such as xl, costs more than x. When a passenger orders an x, the app tells them it's for a maximum of four passengers. There are a lot of cheap people out there that want to pay less, even though these rides cost less than a taxi.
Honestly dude like not just these videos but the majority of your videos you just seemnsuper uptight. I understand that you dont wanna get in "trouble" but just lighten up a bit.
I am an Uber Driver Why would U take that dudes $10 Bucks? I would have said no prob man not really your fault, have a good night.
He said for your troubles. It was a nice gesture for time when someone in the group said to order an xl but the person who ordered the ride ordered an x. Things like that are always appreciated though
@@ChrisPza716 mmmm ok I guess
That’s not them trying to scam you they just don’t know you can only have 4. Where’s the scam?
Too many people instead of ordering an xl ride and placing 100% of the liability on the driver if they get pulled over or into an accident. Pass
How is that a scam?
What Guy???
The guy who wants to keep his job?
Does Uber/ Lyft pay you more if have more passengers?
No. It’s for 1-4 or up to 6 for xl rides.
Chris you have beautiful teeth 😉
Hm thanks... lol
Lmao damn right he does 🤘🤘🤣🤣
Weirdo lol
No u didn't need to cancel the ride.
The word “scam” is thrown around way too freely. These aren’t scams. Asking to squeeze an extra person in isn’t scamming.
If anything, this video is a scam. The title is misleading.
actually they are trying to scam and this is why: If you have more passengers than the capacity limit, then you need to order the next size up (ie Uber XL, which can fit 6passengers) or two cars. You don't “tell them”.You order an X vehicle if it's 4 or less, and an XL vehicle if it's 5-6.
so they should know the rules and ya probably have to pay more for a bigger vehicle for more passengers, which is why they attempt to get 5 people in, hence the fact of why indeed it is a scam.
A 83 the word scam implies deceit. There is no deceit here. They ask, the driver says “no.” Nothing more.
They way these women talk is so irritating
Chris is a "Demanding & Dominant"? Really?
You’re not suppose to accept cash
is it a scam, our are they just dumb or uninformed?
Those aren't scams.
Anytime you try and screw people out of money by not doing something that’s the acceptable or legal way, it’s a scam. Few bucks or 40,000. It’s all the same.

These are not scams. You label nothing as something. How is this scam? Cancel mid ride is closer to scam.
