I would love a modern open world Ghostbusters title.
I am hoping for a full Lego Game based on Ghostbusters 1 and 2 and maybe a new story...

It's a great game. I lost count of how many times I've played through single player and I still haven't gotten tired of it.
Yeah, I even played the whole entire game without even stopping, and I did that 2 times! This is my 12th time completing it right now.
As far as I'm concerned this Game is Ghostbusters 3.
GESSO217 I believe so too, true ghostbusters 3 that was going to come out in 1991. The video game is set in 1991. That must have been their original release date for ghostbusters 3. I'm glad we got to play the game anyways.

I cannot WAIT for this game to come out I'm so excited :) It would be awesome if this spawned a 3rd movie. New ghost busters working under the now older ones, it really wouldn't be hard script to do. Take me back to the 80's and early 90's :-D

I'm happy we got this game, because it is amazing, from the marketing to Dan Akroyd calling those who preordered it. But so much more could have been done with this game, more patches, DLC content. Shame Atari shoved it out and pretended it didn't exist. Thanks for the non existent patches, and the terrible follow up Sanctum of Slime.We'll most likely never get another one even though the demand is there

@@yashshetye5985 if you're talking about the most recent Ghostbusters video game that was released, that game literally has none of the spirit of the Ghostbusters series and has no connection to either version of the franchise. By either version I mean the original cast movies and the all-female cast. It's just a cheap cash grab

I like the HD game. It feels like you are actually in the game.
my 4 year old son is a big fan of Monster House, so we introduced him to the Ghostbuster movies & cartoons. He loves them, he was so excited when he saw the commercials for the game!
This game was really fun to play, I like how they got the actual voices from the cast instead of some cheap knockoff inpersonators.

if there is another ghost busters game it should still be like this because it was fantastic! It made you feel a lot like a ghost buster!

I like how Sony is releasing another Ghostbusters movie with the original cast with the exception of one as a way of saying, "I'm sorry" to the fans for the 2016 reboot.

I love that they use the characters from the movies instead of making them traditional, super muscular, hero types.

@DanielBMS 1. The second ghostbuster draged the ghost to himself to capture it. 2. The view is fine. 3. Yes; Programing ain't easy, but draging a ghost around the room would have been a nice adition. You're right on not being an expected Ghostbusters game, fun none the less.
What I meant was that there was an even older film property that a video game was created from, which was The Great Escape, with Steve McQueen. The film came out in the 60's, not the game, which came out around 2002 for PC, PS2, and Xbox.

@BRENTHENRY1989 There isn't much to this game, but it is all we wanted for almost 25 years now. Just a simple Ghostbusters game, where all you have to do is blast ghosts. I think that since this game came out, the franchise could stand a re-release, but We are all still satisfied with this game.

If you think thats old, there was a game made based off the film, The Great Escape, which came out during the 60's!!! Talk about going way back for a movie property. It even had Steve McQueen's voice and likeness from the film itself.

I just figured out what that green slime is! It is called the "Ecto-Splat" It is like the slime blower in GB 2..Expect it uses Ecto Plasma at high jet speeds to harm or break up a ghost made of ecto plasma. It was never used in the movies only the comics and it makes a "Zzax" Sound. :)

actually he did. he said that the gameplay was pretty basic for a 3rd person shooter and the real appeal is the detail they put into making it a Ghostbusters experience

Have you seen the episode of the animated series where they explain how Slimer came to live with them? It's a lot like that, except the others warmed up to him really fast because he made it clear that he was friendly, while Peter was always trying to blast him. But, yeah, I'm not saying they should be as buddy buddy as in the cartoon, but he could be haunting the firehouse on a friendly basis, and I'd prefer only Peter to be the one who still tries to blast him. A more believable pet scenario.

If there would be a game to beat the "all movie based VGs suck" rule, it would be this one! I AM AMPED for this game!
So freakin' psyched for this! Ghostbusters is back! The animated series just got a volume 1 wide release, there's a badass Hallmark ornament of the Ecto 1 coming out this year that plays the theme song, and they're apparently going to make a 3rd film after all! We need some sweet action figs of the actual Ghostbusters now though, and I wish they'd befriend Slimer in this, like in the cartoon show. I'm going to be annoyed if he's not their pet in the third film, though I'll be surprised if he is.
As an animator I know Quality animators are hard to come by and in this game the animation are phenomenal best ive seen in a while

I know what that green slime is! Its like the slime in Ghostbusters 2 expect the equipment uses a jet stream of ectoplasma to damage or breakup ghosts! :)
The Ghosts are made of ectoplasma so it uses what they are made of to break them up. It makes a "Zzax" sound too. :)
I bet you anything you use that before the proton pack to weaken them and then capture them.

Alright then, fair enough.
My point was that Ghostbusters isn't the old film to receive a new video game makeover.
And out of those films I mentioned, GB is the only one that makes sense due to the idea of eliminating Ghosts, demons and other supernatural entities.
They had just that in the "SEGA (original 8-bit) game. You could customize the car and I think the equipment. Yea I said it 8 bit graphics. Good memories.
Hopefully the demo comes out tomarrow that would be awsom

Gotta disagree on that one. I'm not saying they should be patting him on the head and saying, "Hey, little fella." There are ways it could be done and done great. Just having him "live" in the firehouse and having them acknowledge him as Slimer, maybe tossing him a donut or something, would be fine. It's no different or more cartoony than Slimer randomly giving Louis a ride in Ghostbusters 2.

Agreed...for a first effort I was very impressed...but driving the ecto 1 would make it a hundred times better....though I like that they made fun of you not being able to drive it in the game...made it less of an oversight...

Bah, that was one of the best ideas of the show, even if they overused him at times and shouldn't have given him his own shorts towards the end of the run. They keep including him in the movies/games because of his popularity, so it would make more sense and be easier for them if they borrowed the "pet" aspect from the cartoon.
...And, the story was written by Dan Akroid and Harold Ramis.

Atari pays royalties for use of the copyrights to Columbia Pictures. Atari probably developed the game and went to Columbia for permission to release the game.
i cant wait, even if it sucks i probably wont care just because of the novelty of the ghostbusters. even still the gameplay does look quite enjoyable and fun so we'll see.
Tastybedsore, are you talking about the game being pushed up? It was actually delayed, was supposed to be out last year but EA bought Vivendi and decided they didn't want to slap Sierra on there as the publisher and they sat out their butts before putting the Atari label on it. :-P
