The body shell on this model is a re-release of tamiya 58216. The Escort WRC which is what Ford used as a stop gap between the escort cosworth (with the whale tail) and the new Ford Focus. The front bumper is also very different to the group A cosworth, which the first 3 are based on.
Another livery you could consider, is the quite famous Bastos colours.
Repsol escorts have always been my favorite

Looks like this car was based on the Reyland motorsport car, arguably one of the most well known escos in the uk.

The RS option. Because you will put your spin on it. But the tires and rims details would put it over the top.

Going to say go with the focus RS graphics Glenn, will continue your line of unique liveries and will no doubt look awesome!👍 BTW Repsol is my favourite racing livery, but they're all cool because they're all Escort WRCs from an amazing period in world rally. TBF you can't really go wrong with this one, whatever you choose 😉
My mate actually had a racing green cozzie.... probably still got it ,but the olive racing green is very British racing..

Glenn I’d suggest you do the Ford Focus RS livery style/look because although the Michelin Pilot is my fave cossy livery too, I not sure that livery would pop without the gorgeous whale tale ? So I say go for the Focus livery my friend! 👍 Wes, Liverpool UK

If I get one of those kits I’m going to paint it the same as Max Powers Project 2000. I haven’t seen a Tamiya one painted like that before.

Hi Glenn, go with the RS option or (this takes a bit more doing, nothing like a challenge), a rothams based scheme but in the style of the mark 2 escort, thus a white escort with 959 graphics (you still need a hint of blue paint work.

Start with pearlescent white then go with what you feel is right as you have to look at it but pearlescent for that change still white but will look fantastic mate 👍

I say go with RS decals, something a bit different / unique given how rare those decals are.
Bastos is period for this body type...and a good looking spec for the wrc front and rear....Pilot & tiger stripes are instantly recognisable with the early rally cars and for me need the whale tale.
Choice is yours all depends on what your after for the finished item.
Look into the Taisan decal, like the Taisan Porsche Tamiya put out about with the TA02WS chassis many years ago. Is a red and black stripes very popular.
I would go for the Repsol, that has always been my favourite. But Michelin looks good to, you also have the classic Mobil 1 livery .
Hey Glen checkout some of Ken Block’s rally escorts, there’s some awesome looking ones, may give you some inspiration??
A really nice one is the cosworth WRC livery with the ford logo on the rear quarter

Martini! You can buy just the whale tail to bolt on
The 1998 Escort has the Mk 6 grill and bumper so it would not look as authentic as the 1993 mk 5 bumper and grill in the pilot decals so on that basis go for the RS decal look.👌

Got this myself a few months back. I’ve been waiting to hear what you had to say on it/any tips before I got started. I’d like to see you adapt the RS Focus decals - that’d be very unique.

Martini would be my 1st choice as seen so many pilot 1s in the past, but I really do like the RS as will be a 1 off👍

I just built one of these tt02's with a bunch of yeah racing parts and surpass racing parts I just painted mine in radiant red, god some 3d printed stock wheels that I sanded until they looked goon then sprayed them moondust silver
What do you think of a modified Texaco look? 🤔 Thinking of the sierra cosworth? Texaco logos mixed with the Ford RS decals? The Sierra is black but the Texaco logos go well with white.
How about adapting the Ford Contour Rapid Fit decals? Same yellow and blue but it isn't something that's been done a ton of times.
Hi Glenn nice 1 I think your second idea will be awesome and unique if you can make it fit. Just for interest I looked up the original kit that had that version of the cosworth shell, it was a tl01 kit no. 58216 valvoline livery. Still think the RS decals from the focus would look slick. Cheers.

Gonna be a nice build ...I'd go option two the RS decals personally or maybe Marlboro decals version or google the IMG rally decals their is a few different ones as think the pilot ones been done to death Glenn . 😎👊👌Kamtec do the whale tail if i remember correctly .

Hi Glenn fir me I’d go with the RS livery as you have the decals spare and they are ge home Tamiya and it will look different to what everyone else is done. Besides that the pilot livery is drop dead though ;)
Ken Block has done some nice ones but would be difficult to get decals.....

Not a cosworth, it's an escort WRC (2 different things)and no such thing as a road version of that car, ford stopped the original road going whale tail escort cosworth in January 1996, WRC is a different thing 1997 onwards, they didn't have to make road going versions of the rally cars anymore to get homologation, they are basically kit cars designed by rally teams with back up from the manufacturer

In middle of tt=02b build. The pin ma10 in first step fell our mid to early part of build before engine part. Does that pin do anything and do I need to go back and fix it?

I do not think I clipped it in place first time, not exactly sure what happened. Shoo goo works on bolts that jiggle loose on their own, not sure how it works on rc cars. Time will tell

Building this kit currently and having issues with the front arms not smoothly moving up and down, they are like ‘clicking’ any ideas? 😢
