I was just wondering if Nintendo actually designed this route seriously. I mean, in normal ways, u can only use light arrows to hurt Ganon’s tail and other ways can’t work. But in this video Link can do this by Deku stick.
People clicked on this video, knowing it's about 17 minutes long, and decided to get upset that this speedrun used glitches and exploits. Because, you can completely legit finish OoT in 17 minutes...
Mina Price I expected glitches, no one can beat OoT in 17mins without that. I just think if you beat the game using glitches it isn't really something worthy of a record.
The Real Hero of Time: Didn't need an ocarina of Time to travel to the future, took out Ganon with a deku stick and used the Kokiri sword to enslave him in the triforce realm....pre-puberty.
Halfway in the video I thought I read the title wrong and he was going to beat the deku tree in 17 minutes which is still impressive... and then... wtf
Some information is datamined from game but it's not always helpful since correlations and how to execute them is not so simple in game. I am pretty sure that link between ganons tower and deku tree was a result of datamining 100%
Folks been going over OOT with a fine tooth comb sense 98.. but yes I get what you mean! 😂 but hey the arwing took forever to find and before that we ALL thought we had found EVERYTHING I bet there’s even more hidden in that code
Nah, pal. Just look at the responses for those comments. People who have never seen a modern speedrun before tend to feel alienated and they're very vocal about it.
3DSage i find speedruns to be great to quickly see what a game is supposed to feel like, even if you skip a bunch of intended parts. Even better on 2x speed
I still thin the skill lvl required to get 1~20 frames on Mario 1 much more competitive than Zelda that is about thinking a new route based on input timing
amazing how its always the japanese versions of the game these glitches only work on though. the USA and EU versions they dont. that tell you more about who needs to cheat?
No I think they choose the Japanese versions because the text loads faster instead of having to take time to convert to other languages. Something like that. The original Japanese games can be beaten slightly faster.
I love how you went from thinking your run was trash, and then as your doing the collapse split you start realizing you got this in the bag! Hell yeah man
For everyone who doesn't really understand speedruns. This is a speedrun and it is 100% legitimate since this is a category called any% which means that youre just supposed to beat the game as fast as possible by any means necessary. There are other categories such as glitchless where, you guessed it, you are not allowed to use most glitches (this can get extremely complicated in some scenarios).
Crazy how every single move and button press is completely planned and needed to be exactly at the right time in order to set new records. This game is probably the most demanding because it's so popular and very competitive
the people dont understand is that speedrunners spend months looking for glitches and bugs to exploit and beat the record, thats actually a big part of the fun of speed running a game.
aa311 as you admitted “exploits.” It doesnt matter how hard someone works. You cant compare a real speedrun world record to some hacker that is skipping major parts of the game. All true fans despise hacking.
I really appreciate the fact that IGN is posting all these speedruns, giving the speedrunning community a bit more exposure. However, if you're not familiar with speedrunning, its categories and rules, please inform yourself before commenting a bunch of nonsense.
This always happens when IGN or other pages posts speedruns that use glitches of any kind. It gets pretty frustrating to see how disrespectful some of these comments are and how people disregard the time, effort, and dedication top runners like Torje put into these runs and exactly how amazing they are.
why is ign posting a bunch of speedruns and then watermarking it, lmao. You can find all these speedruns on a website. And the original video of this has 500k views already.
Any% speedruns use glitches. Glitchless speedruns do not use glitches. IGN posts any% because they’re much faster. They’re probably not going to post a 2-3 hour speedrun.
aa311 Hace 1 segundo the people dont understand is that speedrunners spend months looking for glitches and bugs to exploit and beat the record, thats actually a big part of the fun of speed running a game.
1. Because people don't usually bother to watch those. You can go do that at home, albeit slower. 2. Because those are easy as hell, and generally boring to watch. 3. Because they've ALREADY beaten the game tens to hundreds of times, and its no longer in any way, shape, or form a challenge. 4. Because these any% runs are much shorter, which allows far more iterations, more practice on specific parts, higher skill caps, and generally show a far better understanding and mastery of the game than any other kind of run.
Shadow Walsh plenty of people watch them. I prefer to watch glitchless. But I don’t think IGN has ever posted a 3 hour long video. Any% is fun to watch on some games. Especially if you don’t have 3 hours to just watch TH-cam.
OOT: link wakes up and is taken on a quest through time to save the world. OOT Speedrun: Link has a trippy, poison bug and concussion-induced dream about a big man that died with a blond lady and his castle fell down and the big man turned into a big pig man and then the blond lady made you kill him again. 10/10

Sorry I meant beat the game as fast as possible however you can. But no cheats, no mods, it is ok to use glitches and bugs, cause it is just exploiting the game. That's what any% run is
I knew before opening this video, that it required a glitch. Hell, the water temple alone takes more than 17 minutes to finish, without a glitch. Anyone who expected not to see a glitch here, must have a collection of deeds to the finest bridges around the world.
How he went from kokiri forest and then floated backwards into a fairy fountain or something. Then played a combo of three different songs and dropping and scooping up a bug in a jar just to be teleported to the final boss was the most bizarre thing in gaming ive ever seen.

I love watching any% speedruns, it's always amazing and insane to see what kind of glitches people have found especially in Zelda games, and how they've managed to control them and master them. I've known about that one existing for a long time but how on earth do people find these things out?! XD

Rubric I thought this was obvious, but there are people who make false assumptions.
chris Maguire it's way harder to do the glitches than playing it normal
chris Maguire he did made a 100% but Torje (thats his nickname) mostly focuses on any%

Crazy how every single move and button press is completely planned and needed to be exactly at the right time in order to set new records. This game is probably the most demanding because it's so popular and very competitive
hahaha it took me four years to beat this game
I still havent beat it.
Same this guy beats it by penetrating ganon with a 40 stick in his bum 💯 times in 1 sec.
When you play so much Zelda you literally turn into Link.
That's insane!
Even the backwards walking and banking off of the walls...damn that was impressive.
I like how you were pressing the A button to the beat, in links house hahah
when i first clicked the video i was like “no way” i was so shocked, glitches or no glitches, that he actually did it
