    My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

    I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

    I just wanted to thank you for making this detailed video. I have an Echo PB-580T that’s 6 years old and just stopped running one day while I was using it. I purchased a genuine ignition coil from Echo online parts and tune up kit. I installed it per your video instructions and walla! It worked and runs great now. Thank you so much - you have a subscriber…

    Working on a Hilti concrete saw today. Got it all buttoned up and was about to pull the starter rope and there it was. Laying on the bench, a random screw. Doubt and the where did that go had me tear it back apart. Coworker walks over and says, "Did a screw fly over here?". He bought lunch after I chased him out the door swinging a chainsaw chain at his head. Never a dull moment where I work.

    I picked up an Echo blower that was set out beside the road with trash. Like the backpack blower, it would run about 10 minutes and die. Then it would not start again until it was completely cool. I put a new ignition module (coil) on it and it runs great. Watching your videos has given me more confidence in attempting repairs for myself. Thanks for sharing your videos.

    Usually in this type failure, there's a very small break either in an internal winding or plug wire. When the coil heats, the break expands thus no spark. Cool down and the break closes. Nice video Bre.

    Fire : If you have light yellowish fire, your engine "might:" start. You need brilliant blue spark for your engine to run right. Usually, a coil is like a light bulb, either it works or it don't.
    I disagree with any sparks is good spark. If your spark is jumping around from the edge of the plug to the electrode. That means the plug is fouled. The spark needs to be consistent.
    I had a Craftsman 6 hp. chainsaw, it would start all day long at home. When I took it up in the mountains, it wouldn't hit a lick. It would cut through ginormous logs like crazy.
    I ended up beating it to death with my 14 pound sledge hammer. I now have all Husqvarna saws. I have an XP 262, I bought new in 1993, it's never been to the repair shop.
    It still has the original NGK plug, I run 110 octane Sunoco gas with Mobile 1 synthetic 2 stroke oil. 35:1 mixing ratio, I gap my plugs at 28 on the feeler gauge. Btw, you're very attractive.😘

      @danielrobert7181 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With the added bonus that it is rubber-safe which ordinary petroleum based greases are not. You can also use synthetic brake grease as it is dielectric grease under disguise but sold dirt cheap. Regards !

    To remove boot, I used to use a steel pick. Slide it down between the high tension lead and the boot. Now you can pry back the boot from the lead wire, and drop in a drop of oil. Then, rotate the pick around the high tension lead to spread the oil. Now the boot will be much easier to pull off and less chance of damaging the connector. I learnt this procedure in a Stihl update seminar.

    I bought a $400 Stihl garden tiller that gets very little use. The coil crapped out just out of there two year warranty. Stihl told me "Too bad". I have been a loyal Stihl fan for 30 years! Now I'm telling Stihl, TO BAD! Echo is looking pretty good!

    I have had great luck using silicon dialectic compound to lube the inside of the insulating tubing.
    Hint: On the spark plug boots, put the silicon compound in a syringe and squirt it inside the easy way. I got some big ones from my local Dollar Tree, but feed stores and vets carry them also. I do grind off the sharp point on the syringe needle, as then I can't poke myself or poke through insulation. Chemtronics Z5 heatsink compound also works, but is spendy. One can also add a small piece of tubing on the syringe to get lube into tight places. I keep my dialectic heatsink compound for transistors in a syringe, as the tubes are prone to splitting too.

    I would suggest using Dielectric grease at least for the ease of sliding the boot on as it is conductive where regular lube can insulate the electrical connection and is great to use with any electrical connection as it keeps moisture from corroding the connection. Great videos enjoy them all.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

    • @jeremiahlf

    • @bobmartin9518
      @bobmartin9518 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jeremiahlf you are correct. Dielectric means it does not conduct the flow of electricity. Most are silicone based. They protect electrical connectors from corrosion, moisture, and dirt and are a lubricant. You are correct. I stand corrected

    I removed cover and poured ice cold water on ignition electronics and it started.
    Went back with cover off for air cooling..

    Thank you for replying to my Amzoil Sabre post. I have tried the recommended ratio of 50//1 however, the machine smoked more, with more carbon build up. Were you aware that most 2 cycle non synthetic oils have "fillers"non lubing chemicals in them that require a higher ratio of oil to gas in them? Please consider checking out the Lubrology reports. I observed this by checking out the exhaust screen and eventually eliminated the exhaust screen.. No, I am not a sponsor, but found what works for me at less cost. I appreciate your videros' time and info.

    To get the protective cover on the spark plug wire, find a metal rod that slides into the cover and straightens out the cover, use lube and slide the wire in while removing the rod.
    Modify a pair of pliers to hold the spring wire and the plug wire to squeeze the 2 together.

    If I remember right, the boot needs to be pushed down wire first so that the spring-seat can be dissected.
    All those little 'fixins' as I call them are kept off the assembly so that the ignition is more common across more models. Otherwise they'd all have to be unique and they cost another $20-$30 (or more), and take up even more inventory.

    Consider keeping a bit of "wire pulling lube" electricians use on hand.. I'd be careful using a petro chemical lube on wires. As far as getting boots off I use an ice pick type device to break the "seal/bond" between insulation and boot. Once the bond starts to break free add a bit of lube and work it around and the boot will come off easier. Dont forget heat is also your friend to relax things for install/removal.

    I find that if you use a hair dryer and warm the boot on the coil plug wire, it slips off easier most times! :) Good video!

    Don't know if you, or anyone, will read this but if you had run the spark plug wire back in place before you put the contactor and boot on to it it would be a lot easier to thread in and since you have to have the boot off I kind of think removing it first would help with the removal too. Just saying.

    Pocket screwdriver in between the boot and wire and then spray it with WD-40 or similar lubricant. Lube always helos.

    You can use a drop of dawn dish detergent to remove a boot plug. Works every time!

    You know it's cold when Chickanic is in a sweatshirt and snow mobile pants instead of her usual T-shirt and shorts. ROFLMAO. Great video. Keep up the good work!
