Vehicle Specs: 2016 Toyota Tacoma, BDS 6" Performance Coilover System w/ BDS UCAs, 295/70r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, 18x9 Mamba Offroad Wheels, Victory 4x4 Bumpers
This is probably the best, most informational how-to video I’ve ever seen. I’ve been a mechanic for 23 years, and I’d hire you any day, man.
Other people’s comments crack me up- “use a dead blow”- He did!
“Sand and debur before you paint”- He did!
Lol
Thanks again man.
Let me add to the endless amount of compliments for the host and the quality of this video. This is the way.
Me and my boy just installed the same BDS kit on a 2011 Tacoma. Used your video for the instruction, it was better and more detailed then the instructions that came with the kit.
Thanks for the excellent video.
I am writing this comment to thank you because i lifted my truck as you did and I have been driving the truck for 3 months and everything works perfectly. Thank you sir
I can't thank you enough for the confidence you have given me to proceed with installing this kit!!! Excellent quality tutorial!!
This video is fantastic! This dude is the real deal when it comes to attention to detail and proper shop practices. I'm very impressed!
This is the most informative and comprehensive walkthrough I’ve ever seen on a suspension lift. Well done 👍
This is great. I wish more companies would post installation videos.
I could just watch this guys videos all day long, he is so informational!
This guy know's what he's talking about. I would be a little scared to have someone do all that work & not properly torque the nut's & properly. How many people that get their trucks lifted are told to re torque the nut's after 500 miles? This guy is a pro
I’m a jeep guy. Toyota is piece of work. Thanks
This video is fantastic. Just confidence like crazy. I would poop my pants if someone just sawed my cross-member in half but I totally believed in you , lol . Sure puts a lot of belief in Victory 4x4 for me. You could work on my truck any day......wish you would actually. Heck , im smarter after watching this video, thanks man
Damn man. You know your stuff!!!!! Nice job. I could probably get it apart, but putting it back? I'd have to hire you. LOL.
I'm new to truck culture! I have a 2017 Tacoma Sport TRD and I cant wait to modify it!!! Great video too!!
20:30 He installed the UCA long bolt in Backwards incorrectly. He got it out easy enough, so can reinstall it the same. This why I will never let any shops work on my truck. Someone is always cutting corners or being lazy. Other wise a great detailed video. You welcome for the algorithm vote. 👍
great video. Id trust that mechanic to do my work anyday
Awesome video man! Nice to be able to go through the whole process before even getting under the truck!!
You sir, are a genius. That's the best and easiest way to get the uca bolt out I've seen yet.
May I ask where your shop is, is it in Ontario?!
Awesome workmanship! Pleasing to watch 👌👍🇺🇸
Watched the video twice now. At 19:00 could you just cut the head off the bolt and push it backwards towards the rear? If you didn’t want to bend the fender. I’m guessing to use this you would need to order a new bolt?
Also at 41:00 I think for some of us without a large shop space it may be easier to weld tabs when spindle is out of truck.
Thanks for the video I’m going to make a follow up specifically for 2nd gens. Mine was a lot harder I had to saw the LCA’s out and a bunch of other bolts broke.
Thanks for the video it saved me a lot of time and money in making a stupid mistake of DIY
I wouldn’t send my truck to anyone else but this guy
Great knowledge of installation for Tacoma.....I’m watching this video and I learned
First time I have ever posted a comment, but watched a ton of them.. Great video bro
Phenomenal job by farr the best off road mechanic great video phenomenal work hands down the best footage. Great work...😎🤘🗜⚙🔩🔧🛠
when ever I have the lower A frames hanging loose on a Taco I disassemble all the alignment encentics and pack them with wheel bearing grease so down the road they wont be rusted in place, a half hour could save you time and big bucks
Greatly appreciated: This is a great tutorial video.
Sick!!! This mechanic is a scientist! Wow
Thank you for taking the time to film this installation. Looks great, any chance of replacing the blocks in the rear? And what would that option be?
Jack I know someone on the forum who used the blocks as well as an ICON add-a-leaf since he said he has to tow from time to time and it put him almost a inch higher in the rear
Hey Jack, we only offer the block option for the rear at this point, there are other companies offering rear add-a-leaf, full spring, and shackle options for the rear.
Thanks for the reply, I've been looking at the BDS lift for my 2016 Tacoma. I think a 4 inch would go great with retro billet 16x10 with 305/70's mud terrain.
Unfortunately you won't be able to go with a 16x10 wheel with our kit. Our 4" and 6" lifts your replacement steering knuckles with a relocated steering arm mount to keep the steering angles similar to stock for ESC system compatibility. Our 4" and 6' kits require 18" or larger wheels be used
ok, thanks for the info!
Thanks from bottom of my heart for great video n explanation...
Thank you for this! This really helped me out big time!!!!
How many takes? :D Great video. Edit: 3/4 way through and I have to say I'm impressed with your attention to detail, bravo dude
Very nice job bro im smashing my like botton ftom San Antonio tx kaboooooooooooooom
What a professional show....I trusted u show ur business info so we can contact u in the future lifting....
Dude.. you are one fucking skilled tech. You make this look like a walk in the park. Bravo. 👏 👏 👏
Great job, but let me ask you where did you get that front bumper. Love the way it looks
Best tutorial video ever
Super video , tres bien expliquee , bravo
Great how to video bro, Dayummm looks easy🤣 jk, lots of work and patience, wish you were here in Los Angeles area I’d have you do my 2020 Pro🙏👌
wow fullly detailed guid thank you sir
Dude, you lost me at hello, I never knew there was so much work involved to raise a truck, glad you know what your doing... What would you charge me to do that job, I have a 2016 Off Road..?
You sir are a sir 👍👍👍
Great job sir....like the other guy said tho i would hire someone to do this.
I want to lift my truck and level it out too so its the same height from both sides but I hear that lifting/leveling your Tacoma can cause an annoying vibration and other problems is that true?
Great job guys. Im just a new tacoma owner and have a question - what coils travel dimension got this kit? 6" Lift its good but what dimension of suspension travel?
So with that cross member bracket install, does it basically cancel out raising the vehicle even with taller tires because the inches towards the ground for clearance?
that was pretty cool, thank you for sharing!
Eh, I would rather hire you to lift my truck.
Lol that's what I said...🤣😎🤘🤘🤘
How much cost to install all that?
Min 10:56 He drops the differential 😅
Lol he totally lost it!
Why you did pull out the part. That’s already good
Soooo do you have a shop that you can do that to my 2020 sr5 ?!?
Love your work. You're so meticulous, Great video Love all the detail looks bitch'n great job ! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeaaa... I'm not cutting the cross member on my brand new truck....
Me either, cutting that cross member (Drop Kit)destroys a lot of resale value in the truck, just too gain 3 more inchs of lift over a standard lift.No thanks
you could just pull one out of a junkyard or order one from a body shop, wouldn't be hard to replace.
That part is roughly $150 new from the dealer, it can be done with a simple welder or taken to a body shop. Everyone is obviously not comfortable with body work, but this is not a hard repair to do and it is reversible.
I always thought cutting that cross member is considered frame damage and won't pass state inspection if you went to resell vehicle. Even welding a new member in won't be the same.
tbugher62 😂 relax bird brain
I have Fox 2.0 coil overs. Would I need to disassemble them and add spacers or do they install like the 2.5 Coil overs and just bolt on?
I have the same on my 12...Badass!
Would be easier to just swap in a straight diff?
What happens if you wanted to go back to a 3 or 4 inch lift?
Awesome video guys! Long is only bad if it's not informative.
How can I get that thumbnail 🥺 looks so nice that taco ?
where are you? Can you do the work on my 2020 tacoma trd off road?
Hi bro this awesome lift kit of truck I'm love it, u r great tell everything u work on it. And I have a Question 4 u how much u do my truck same as ur truck. I want every thing as same as ur truck same 6" inch high.
for you, my friend, $75,000 and I will throw in the lift kit
What I notice much no matter how high the lift is from 6" up the front end always yet looks like sits low to the ground.
Wow very informative video!!
When you go back through and check / re-torque stuff etc, can you video how you do that?
Just rewatch the parts that he installed the parts? It's not hard. Just reset your torque wrench and go over the bolts.
Does that truck have a body lift to it as well?
where can i get my truck done in Florida
I really like your bumper , where can I find that?
Bumpers are from Victory 4x4
Is it possible to get a welder to fabricate metal and weld it back into your frame so that you can downgrade back to a stock lift?
in theory yes, but it all depends on how cleanly the crossmember was cut out initially
@@bdssuspension and I’m guessing the only way to know that is by taking the lift off and inspecting it?
So what does it look like when its done???
Wow, quite a bit of work...
Will this kit fit a 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 Manual Transmission?
Yes
Where can I find those lug nuts?
Awesome vid!
Great now I want this for my truck 😆
Do I have to cut off with the saw saw it’s a 2 wd ??
Was the gearing changed on this truck?
Can you do on my 2020 tacoma?
What sort of power loss did you notice?
Hey Daryl what do you do for a living? Just curious but act like you work on Tacos!
Is BDS associated with FOX?
Awesome video.
Will this work on 2021 toyota tacoma trd pro? With no cutting?
these kits have not officially been approved for use on the 21 models. All kits do require cutting of the rear crossmember to install and reconnect the front driveshaft once the diff is relocated down.
What is that a 1985 with drum brake rear axle
Will this fit on a 4runner?
Can i still run 17 with this kit??
Torque for U-bolts?
I like that bumper
What brand of bumper is on the truck?
Nevermind, should have read the description.
What size wheel and tires were used for the build
kevin t 295/70r/18 says in the description
So all that work and we don't get to see the side view after the finish
Tons of photos of this truck at:

Victory 4x4 truck looks nice with the bumper. But man I think you have some ugly ass looking rims. I'm thinking 4 inch or 3 inch would for my needs.
Victory 4x4 cool pics👍
Nice pictures N truck
Great Job...!
I would be willing to install a kit on a Jeep Wrangler, on a Tacoma? No freakin' way.
Awesome!!
YAAAA I won't be doing this ill hire you to do it.
How much would you charge to do that job, labor only..? and how much is the kit..?
This is more of a how to video on the install, we don't provide installation services. We estimate the install time at around 8hrs, you'll need to check with your local BDS dealer for install prices, bds-suspension.com/distributor-lookup
You’re gold buddy :)
what the hell is a millimetre??
I need someone to put a lift on my Tacoma
Looks good but I'd rather not chop off the the crossmember on my truck. I would rather go 3 - 4 inch lift .
Everyone uses their trucks/rigs differently. We respect that.
