How does the reduced payload affect overlanding? is it a material issue when you're all loaded up with your tent, jerry cans, winch, and supplies and 2-4 people? I am deciding between the SB and the LB, but don't want to stunt the already weak payload.
Showing the price of the build is great. Next time I'd be very interested in see the overall additional weight added to the truck build as well. Awesome build!
This is the best Overlanding Tacoma build video! It was really helpful seeing the cost breakdown and some pro tips for install from some great companies like CBI Offroad Fab. Great work!
I got a 1st gen tundra dc and Im right about 6600lbs which is the gvwr for the truck. I pack pretty minimal but do have sliders and bumpers with swing out. It handles great but I have upgraded the suspension and brakes. It is the best truck platform for traveling IMO. It also has the super reliable 4.7 which is known for being a 1mil mile motor. Just got done doing a 2600 mile trip through 4 states dirt roads for miles and some rock crawling including going through hells revenge in moab. It has performed flawlessly and would never get rid of this thing, going on 9yr of ownership.
I think Toyotas are the best looking cars for overlanding. I’ve seen a couple Tacomas modified for snow and it’s caught my attention. Hell I think it looks even better with a machine gun mounted and a couple of men wielding rifles
