I know you probably don't care but Jesus would have actually been very buff as he was a carpenter before they had power tools so he would have made everything by hand
The back is one bodypart; Dorian was the first mass monster along with Dillett and overwhelmed everybody with his size and conditioning but he certainly did not deserve all his wins and he was far from the most aesthetic bodybuilder out there. His calves overpowered his quads which had a very awkward sweep, his biceps were mediocre at best even before the tear although the triceps were solid, the chest wasn't very thick, the delts from the back were good but they were non-existent from the side and front.
Bob Paris, the real "King of Aesthetics". Just one word to describe his overall package: Perfection. Great video as always my friend. All of those athletes truly embodied the real meaning of Bodybuilding.
Really enjoyed this video, thanks. No, I've never seen bodybuilder aesthetics broken down into categories either. I personally liked the pioneers best, will be interesting to watch your videos on 20 most aesthetic bodybuilders.
Sergio's posing actually improved after her retired and started making the guest posing rounds. In fact, had he developed that skill before he retired, he might have won at least one more Olympia.
I think this is a great idea. By the way, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos while I’m in frat for my next show. I’m really enjoying them. I’m glad you did them
Larry Scott did not have the size you normally associate with bodybuilding?! The first Mr. O? (Actually, the first two). If Mr. Olympia does not have the size you associate with bodybuilding then we're possibly talking about two different sports entirely. Or, same sport, different planets. And anyway, it's insulting to assert that pre-steroid era b.builders merely served to pave the way for the steroid guys you clearly prefer. They INVENTED bodybuilding and took it with them when they retired, with the exception of guys like Zane and Nubret, who were using 'roids to create specific proportions in an attempt to represent physical perfection, not just ginormosity--the way you're supposed to in b. building.
Take a look at it from today's perspective. Phil is considered small for a body builder and even he reached 235+ category and was 255 at his heaviest. Scott was anywhere from 30-50 pounds away from him in weight during his reign. And you're clearly not right in the head. I prefer steroid guys too. You know why? Because they're almost objectively more aesthetic. It's not even a joke. No one except for the rare individual would take Scott over Wheeler. And the Mr O has come such a ridiculously long way that the arguement is irrelevant. Even Sergio who came directly after was 20 pounds heavier. And Arnold who can right after that got to 247. So yes Larry lacks the size that we associate with bodybuilding. You don't think anyone was lifting weights before Larry to get aesthetic? Larry didn't invent anything. And the way you judge Bodybuilding is very subjective. But at its core Bodybuilding has always been about mass+conditioning. So how you say bodybuilding should be done is objectively wrong compared to the actual criteria.
What makes Frank Zane, Lee Labrada & Shawn Ray very special men is even though they were surrounded by super sized competitors, they stood their ground & never compromised their idea of a beautiful physique. But make no mistake, these men were still developed way beyond what is deemed reasonable.
what do you think made the pioneer archetype look aesthetic. they werent too big but what muscle part did they focus on to achieve the steeve reeves aesthetic.
The thing to consider here in my opinion is the abuse of steroids & how it obscures our perspective. Steve Reeves was on another level when U consider outstanding genetics. He had decent height, very well built legs a magnificent taper & a very handsome head to go along with the physique. Nowadays with all the pharmuscle & juiced up Dr. Jekyll's walking around it's hard to appreciate this. Now imagine Steve Reeves on a similar stack to Arnold Schwartznegger or a Chris Bumstead, now think, would those men be able to stand beside him & win ??
I would eliminate the "pioneer" category since for me they don't represent the best of aesthetics, neither their niché being "big" enough to a category. Instead i would say the "killers of giants" category. The combination of small proportions with massive muscles, i know it can be confusing with the "hybrid", but the hybrid belongs to "natural big" bodybuilders that look extremely good for their big size. Is more like the contrary. Anyways nice video.
Larry Scott from uttah was 22/27 who laid olympia....... now some rappers can throw in stan Or snoop but..... well u know the health conditions of rony...... right.....
Where would you place the new "Natural Bodybuilders", and Mens Physique people like: Jeff Seid, Steve Cook, Sergi Constanze, Lazar Angelov and Zyzz? I feel like these guys almost need a fifth category. It´s a new type of physique.
yeah maybe, they're kind of like a renaissance of the old school posers/pioneers like Zane and Reeves I guess but tbh I don't really follow the physique division or all these social media aesthetic guys.
The previously mentioned guys have great physiques, but I wouldn't compare them to reeves, he was almost a class on his own. The broad shoulders, small waist, great diamond shaped calves, the flaring lats,... In my view reeves is very underrated, this man had a truly unique physique, it's not for nothing the great Sergio oliva said reeves had the most perfect physique he had ever seen.
jeez.. frank zane looks like jesus on steroids... in a good way...!
Lol, perfect analogy. 👌
Jep 😂
I know you probably don't care but Jesus would have actually been very buff as he was a carpenter before they had power tools so he would have made everything by hand
@@drewcasper4608 i bet his physique was god-like😉0
Zane is definitely how I would choose to look. But serge looks awesome
1992 Levrone, 1993 Wheeler and 1994 Ray. Perfect mix of aesthetics and mass, full muscle bellies, small waists.
The back is one bodypart; Dorian was the first mass monster along with Dillett and overwhelmed everybody with his size and conditioning but he certainly did not deserve all his wins and he was far from the most aesthetic bodybuilder out there. His calves overpowered his quads which had a very awkward sweep, his biceps were mediocre at best even before the tear although the triceps were solid, the chest wasn't very thick, the delts from the back were good but they were non-existent from the side and front.
he was shite
he was shit
PrinceArthas100 them versions of Kevin, flex and Ray are the best. I agree 100% with you. The 3 best physique's ever. Just perfect
Id say 1999 Flex Wheeler - 1997 Kevin Levrone - 2011 Phil Heath.....crazy 3d mass with class best physiques ever imo.
Bob Paris, the real "King of Aesthetics". Just one word to describe his overall package: Perfection.
Great video as always my friend. All of those athletes truly embodied the real meaning of Bodybuilding.
honestly I think Serge is much more aesthetic than Zane
Most dudes raised in the mass monster era do. This is not to say you're wrong, only it's interesting.
+Rich Miller and?
His arms are watery
No i don't think, zane had an amazing body.
If I could, look like Serge.
Me too
Really enjoyed this video, thanks. No, I've never seen bodybuilder aesthetics broken down into categories either. I personally liked the pioneers best, will be interesting to watch your videos on 20 most aesthetic bodybuilders.

There are definitely different mixes of archetypes. Great video Tom!
I think this is a great idea. By the way, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos while I’m in frat for my next show. I’m really enjoying them. I’m glad you did them
I didn't think I would like your groupings , but I actually do.
Great video.
Steve Reeves,the best.

He was on the cusp. Remember I didn't just say size but also conditioning. He might be big enough but his conditioning was nowhere near
Yeah Reg Park and Bill Pearl were both huge too lol
Take a look at it from today's perspective. Phil is considered small for a body builder and even he reached 235+ category and was 255 at his heaviest.

Good job with the categories. Posers are great and also Hybrid. I find the Natural type spindley.
Excelente video. I was looking for someone to talk about this!
What makes Frank Zane, Lee Labrada & Shawn Ray very special men is even though they were surrounded by super sized competitors, they stood their ground & never compromised their idea of a beautiful physique. But make no mistake, these men were still developed way beyond what is deemed reasonable.

Bill Pearl was big for his time
Very underrated in my view, what a physique this man had, incredible!
Steve Reeves the Best.
Old school BB beats new bubble gut BB all day long. No contest which era has most aesthetics, appeal. Coleman next to Arnold- no contest
Chris Bumstead would mop the floor with Arnold though, and same goes for almost anyone in the classic physique division.
Let’s settle the one and only Steve reeves great champion Rest In Peace mr perfection
These 4 are my GODS too! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Serge in insane
think steve reeves looked the best over all how i would of like to look think women would find his look the best
Bob Paris definitely looks better.
fantastic video. I appreciate the analysis

Great video m8.ty!
thx man
Mass monsters wrecked it.
IMO, these are four of the greatest bodybuilders ever. I do not count anyone past Yates since the sport was wrecked by HGH and Insulin.
Reeves, Scott, Oliva, Zane, Arnold and Draper, Nubret, Haney. Mass monster-wise; Ray and Wheeler.
0:14 That's the Top 4 right there
Serge nubret was the best, ever!!!
Pioneer for days
Steve Reeves and Frank Zane were the best!💪💪🏅🏅🏆🏆💯💯
Good work!

Is that really Bill Pearl? @5:50
This was a great vide man
great video keep going
Serge and Arnold all the way!
The Pioneer category you have has absolutely the best bodybuilders . Today's bodybuilders are huge but also extremely unhealthy.
serge nubret all day
Phil heath should be placed in the natural category my man...only for his early years thought 2006-2013.
no vince gironda for pioneers???
Charles Clairemonte
that Benfatto, Paris, and Makaway and my favorites from the 60's Jim Haislop , and Don Howorth are absent is troublesome.
What archetype does Big Lenny fall under????????
"The Shrek"
I knew there was a reason why I always admired Shrek's physique
Shawn ray is what i call GOD
why'd you ignore Vince Gironda in the Pioneer category when he is the godfather of conditioning and posing?
Not sure? This was made years ago, he might've just slipped my mind at the time, but would indeed be a great example for that category.
@@Tomn8er aah oke, i was only just wondering.
Larry Scott from uttah was 22/27 who laid olympia....... now some rappers can throw in stan Or snoop but..... well u know the health conditions of rony...... right.....
Of the first four pictures, I'm guessing women would find the first and third body type the most appealing. Just guessing.
Reeves was an athlete so how can you say he didn't have the level of conditioning!?
The naturals = black guys (Serge Nubret was way ahead of his time with the mass and especially conditioning).
Where would you place the new "Natural Bodybuilders", and Mens Physique people like: Jeff Seid, Steve Cook, Sergi Constanze, Lazar Angelov and Zyzz? I feel like these guys almost need a fifth category. It´s a new type of physique.

Tristan Lorenz fake natty metro youtube boys?
*So Nobody ever heard about Don Howorth*
where is zyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
nah, just kidding...............
Sergio haney beckles r atleast bad bad bad guys.... scary I mean..... anyday anytime for fair antmen dating women
What are the "naturals" all black?
Because they have better genetics, that's just how it is.
We have fuller rounder muscles with very dramatic v tapered bone structures. Plus a natural tendency for more muscle mass
they dont have better gens, they have worse gens, they wont be as aesthetic as a white guy, fact
u dont , gens are different on everybody
The fact that BB is yank centric and most yanks are over pouring with white guilt so they can't/wont look beyond Black dudes.
oliva is a natural?
Why did you not mention Dexter Jackson? Lol
HERTZ bad calves
you left out one more type..... the drug free bodybuilder!! oh wait...there's no such thing....my bad.
they all seem to have tiny waists.
3:59 the triceps maaan! holyyy, that longhead, and the forearm flexor on the back arm!!!! thick and dry! that's what we strive for!
Wheeler 1993
