I had a Mk2? Panda 45s and most importantly a SEAT Marbella SLX which was the original Panda as a copy - leaf rear suspension - 903cc engine - nice and simple and did nearly 40k in year 1. Thats important as I was travelling about 1k miles a weekend there and back to see the lady to whom I will have been married to for 30 years next year - hence that car is not just near to my heart its near to my soul
Memories certainly make a car special
One of my best friends at school, Jon, his mum had one of these, a silver one, at the time my mum had a Hillman Imp and to be honest the hillman imp felt better to ride in than the Panda. The seats weren't the most comfortable but did the job. It was a practical car though as she used to be able to carry quite a lot of stuff in it, far more than the Hillman Imp we had that's for sure. It must have been reliable as she kept it for over 10 years. Happy new year to you and cant wait for 2025 to see what brochures we have then
Happy New Year - all the best
Those bars were the frame of the seat. The fabric slid of them and the only clip into those brackets on the body. No tools needed
Aw thank you for explaining that
One of my neighbours worked for the Fiat garage in Aberdeen when the Panda was introduced. He had to collect a Panda from Glasgow full of soft toy pandas, apart from on the driver's seat, presumably to give to customers test driving the new model. He managed to get to within Aberdeen city limits before being stopped by the police. Fortunately, they let him finish the couple of miles home with the passenger seat pandas squashed down a bit to improve visibility.
Wow thank you for sharing that unusual story
A very appealing car, but the original, the 2cv was never beaten as all the others, Beetle, 500, Mini, Panda, - none were 4 door, only the Renault 4 was on par
Happy new year to you, your family, and all the viewers 🎉🎊😁🤗
Happy New Year
Who doesnt like a cheeky Panda. Love fact features must be close to zero. And doesnt matter. But can still showcase the car in a Brochure. Brilliant. 😊
It has all your really need
I believe Enzo Ferrari had one of these and thought highly of it. Brilliant replacement for the Fiat 126.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year - all the best
I love the Panda - although my favourites are the later type 169. These earlier ones are so basic, but are all you really need!
Happy New Year to you, and all the best to you and to the channel in 2025!
Happy New Year hope it’s a great one for you
Virtually a delivery van. Beautiful
Happy New Year. I have fond memories of the original Fiat Panda. It really was an incredible take on the utilitarian car. A modern 2CV indeed. I had a later version with the new "FIRE" engine. The seats were a bit more elaborate by then. Regardless of what people say about Fiat, it was quite a reliable little car and served our family well for a good few years. I had one of the newer Panda models too. That was also an excellent car for what it was designed to be.
Happy New Year and yes a basic car is often all someone needs
Thanks as always for the great review. I grew up in the uk until I was 8 and then moved to Boston US, I remember these early models of the Panda and I very much liked the boxy design with the original asymmetrical grill. I had a Bburago model of this exact car. Happy New Year Quarter Light!
Thank you and Happy New Year
I remember those strange headrests that were like cushions or jiffy bags.
I had a mk 1 fiat panda 45 as my first car back in 1991, (B154 JPJ) It took me everywhere, sadly I don't think it exists anymore, but I sold it to get a Fiat Uno.
The only Pandas I ever saw in Australia were soft toys. Here in the Philippines there's a food and groceries delivery service called FoodPanda. I do like a small, simple but versatile car.
I can remember being at school some of the lads had a run in with the teacher that owned one of these, they flipped it on its side as a revenge attack.
Wow
Mine did 88mph downhill
I became interested in the Panda when Fiat introduced a 4 x 4 model. I wonder why they did that.
Very utilarian but an endearing little car all the same. The slightly more upmarket Panda Super with a conventional grille and ribbed steel rather than plastic clad lower body looked better than this original base model (later called the Panda Comfort?) I think. This and the 4x4 must have launched in '84 or thereabouts. I wonder how many washes those flimsy removable seat covers would withstand?
