Love this. I had a friend today breakdown in his 02 Toyota Sienna. He was an hr and a half away. Of course I went to help him. Found the actual problem but it too a 24mm box end to fix. Even though it was a relatively easy fix the location made it an actual nightmare. If I ever have an emergency moment I know this fucker's going to be there. Getting home and finding you just posted a vid just made my night.
One rarely hears "a Toyota broke down..." a 24mm...thinking wheel bearing? Friends that have your back...priceless
@@backwatersandbackroads It was a bad pulsation damper on the fuel line. The new one was 22mm,the old one 24mm.
I know exactly where you are lol Lone Tree and West liberty 😊
I saw the west liberty signs too
yay, we re back on the river!!
A lot of historic buildings ! Kudos !
Burlington, Iowa coming up. A little seedy, but boy is it a historical place
Great job Brenton! Your going to be at 100k subscribers before you know it!
Eric! The legend. Good to see you sir. I doubt I'll ever see 100k but I bet we hit 15k by the end of the adventure;) I'll take it.
Great video ,i got a 5 gal bucket and a chargable shower ,like 35 bucks ,works great ,half cold then boil water ,beats freezing 😂
You didn't see Oquawka at all , darn 😕 maybe next time . Like you said , it got dark
I wanted to! I was looking for a dock, nothing:(
The town where the Ohio and Mississippi meet is called Cairo, Illinois. Once a thriving, wealthy river port town, now........ not so much.
good video thanks
Thanks Mary ;) you've been here from the beginning. Appreciate you!

Hi Brenton and Wavey 😊😊😊
Hi Hreg!! --Brenton and Wavey;)
I've been there many times 😊
I believe that the sticker that Wavey got on her foot is what we call a goats head (don't know the botanical name). They are hard to pull off and they prick your fingers, too, when you remove them. We've encountered them in the west - Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico ....
That's them Bev :( they hurt!
Great choices on the books
"Adrift" has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years. I don't recall when or where I picked it up, but I'm definitely going to read it soon based on the recommendation.
Yet another great video! You'll eventually be passing through my home port of Carrabelle, FL. We've had lots of loopers stopping here over the last few weeks, while waiting on a weather window to do the gulf crossing.
I love Carrabelle. You say you live there? I'll be there in January
Yes, my wife and I live full-time here in Carrabelle. I'll email you my contact info and if you want/need any assistance when you get here, feel free to reach out. 👍
I'd very much like to meet you guys in Carrabelle. One of my favorite places on earth
@@backwatersandbackroads Sure, just give us some notice when you'll be arriving and we can arrange to meet.
Adrift the Steven Callahan tale....first thing that comes to mind is Dorado eyeballs.
Oh yeah, and having to collect drinking water in the same container that he pees in. And the sharks hitting him through the bottom of the life raft!
Oh, didn't know there was anything wrong with using the same container.....buyden adm. wants us to not be wasteful.@@backwatersandbackroads
You may have already done so and i missed it. But could you go into detail of your solar setup? Panel wattage? What type of batteries and how many? Are you using an inverter? Many thanks. Another great video.
Howdy, if you look back on my channel, I have a "Beagle Barge Beagle Build" series. One of the vidoes is all about the solar set up. That should answer most of the questions. Nutshell: 780 watts. 4 6 volt batteries. Chanege controller and invertor
@backwatersandbackroads Thanks Cap'n!
🥂
Btw, I used to have a HD Ultra Classic and my Boykin Spaniel used to absolutely love to go riding with me… we got a lot of looks for sure!! I miss her way more than that bike!! Sophie!!
Dogs hate being left at home, even more than being stuffed in a box! Lol ;)
Hey brother, I refer alot of people to your channel. Especially when they are on a budget
Thank you for that. We've been discovered ;) cornering the Shanty Boat market! Lol
wing damns would be a major avoid concern for me .
I love my ebike, and would use it like you use your scooter. Trailers are made for them to carry your purchases. Bet you could charge the battery with your systems.
What happens if you're half way home and the battery dies? Honest question. I'm open minded, I just don't want to be stranded
@@backwatersandbackroads I get 35 - 40 miles out of it, and then I can pedal if I have to.
2 questions. Are the locks closed at night? Why no travel at night, when the whether is favorable.
Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Howdy. I do believe most locks are open at night. The barges run all the time, which is the reason I don't run at night. I'll run right up to dark, but there is so much that can go wrong normally, you need to see whats coming. Getting plowed over by one of those barges would be a nightmare. I saw a sailboat once that got hit by a barge. It was a mess
Wavey not lazy 😅 she works hard to take care of you 😊😊😊
She could take the wheel once in a while and let me ride in the box ;)
@@backwatersandbackroads I'm sure she would lol 😆 😂 🤣
But I don't think you would fit in the box Brenton lol 😆 😂 🤣 😅 😜
10:27 made me laugh
Yep your pronouncing it right Mus ca tine 😊
i was thinking of some foldable e bikes for my houseboat . with a bit more solar free riding for up to 30 or 40 miles
That tug is based in Keithsburg
"Une generation perdue." (As Hemingway wrote Gertrude Stein's quote in that book you grabbed. "The Sun Also Rises." My wife had a similar title for the political stranglehold party in my county She called it "The Scum Also Rises." We beat 'em for 20 years or so and then I retired. So, I guess that's not so bad. By Spring, I want to be doing what you're doing, but sailing up every backwater town I can get to on the Chesapeake Bay. So I'm watching closely your videos for tips and sage advice. My 25-foot sailboat is a little smaller than that "mansion" you're drivin' around. If I find a Rolls Royce hood ornament, I'm sendin' to you to use as a ship's figurehead.
You're in the top tere of commentary here Pirate ;) thank you. Does not go unnoticed. Is there really that many back Waters down to pull up to in the Chesapeake? If so, I'm on it! When does spring like weather start up there? I've always heard it's it's boating heaven there.
