Hey guys.. at the end of the video I did say how we would be going LIVE for Christmas morning, but it wasn't until I was editing this video that I realised Christmas falls on a school day here. I'm so used to Christmas being a public holiday back home I never even thought what day it would be on. So.. unfortunately we wont be going LIVE as Mina will be going to school. She has to sit exams this week because she won't be in school for them next week as we will be on the road. Apologies to those who were looking forward to it, but we will capture some footage when we do get the chance to open prezzies so you can see her reaction.

G’day Todd. We are long time watchers but first time commenting. We used to live in Lao. Have you been down to Rimping super market? Next to Rimmping you should find a Ironman store. Could be of some help.
Todd, here in Chiang Mai we got up early for the school run, then went to take the car for a clean..5 people working on it including polishing the plastic headlights, barely finished our coffee and it was like a new pin. Then went to book a service at the dealership and they said we will do it this afternoon. The woman that cleaned the car pointed out that the outside window shades were peeling off. Joy said I know somebody. Turned up, they had them in stock fitted in 10 minutes. Driving back into the city the aircon stopped working…as you know this is seriously bad in a hot country…Joy knew a friends cousin gases aircon…5 minutes later turned up 10 minutes fixed and re gassed. Off to have it serviced now. So far clean, window shades, aircon..1700 Baht (£39.00). There are some very clever mechanics in Thailand. Whilst I was watching for the aircon I had a look around. He had just finished a VW camper split windscreen. Lots of them here as the Red Cross used to use them in the 50’s and 60’s as ambulances. It was immaculate.
Trophies come with safety barriers that fit behind the front seats as an aftermarket add on
you can get compressors that bolt on to your engine and run that way, all you need to carry the hose which takes up less space
Always good if you know how to fix it yourself 😊
Hi Todd A couple of thoughts. I always call the boss to talk to the shops if I have problems with the lingo, although your vocabulary is way better than mine. The other thought is to use bungies, they are cheap and plentiful.
For compressor buy one that runs on electricity.some special bicycles pump with a gauge can also be used to inflate tyres in the bush.redundant.
We have such auto shops here plus special shops/franchise that stock spares for brands like ford Toyota etc.the mum pap stores are usually cheaper but some goods counterfeit
Todd, for the back end of the 4WD , you could rig it up like a maintenance sparks van, have lots of modular pick bins along either side of the rear compartment??
Hey mate if you can't find the cargo net maybe you could make your own with some 5mm nylon rope and a few hooks? Go to the Mekong and see if a fisherman can weave you one or get another couple of ratchet straps and sow/stitch them together to form a square net?
Third day in Lao never felt more welcome by my Lao friends good food, good beer great times.
All of what you said- buy one thing at each store- sounds like paradise. Can't wait to retire and travel to your country.
Maybe use an extra heavy duty hammock as your cargo net.
Maybe something simple like shower rods that extend. lightweight, cheap, easy to deal with and should keep the boxes from shifting around.....my .02 Merry Christmas to you, Neenee and Mina!
You can make a cargo net out of a fishing net.
You need to get some solar panels on the roof so your fridge and air compressor can run off it
Honestly you don't need nor really want to deflate tires in muddy terrain,but the compressor is a good to have in case you get a flat...even if it's just a bicycle pump like Mina was using.
Winter is here,I'll trade ya. It's already been getting down to -12C a few times and Jan/Feb is our worst part. So hate the white garbage that falls from the clouds and the freezing temps.
I'd like to SEE A AUTO ZONE LIKE THEY HAVE HERE.

Todd, I am just across the Mekong in Tha Bo (you did a video going through Tha Bo on the way to Chiang Khan for the rocket festival) and it was 11 degrees this morning. At least the wind had died down. Just doing the 6 week Christmas holidays in the village. Will go over the Laos for a visa run and might see if you are around. Keep up the good work you and Neenee are doing.
I did that last Jan, at night it was 8-9C, no heating in our guesthouse ffs

Gotta be better than an ozito 😂 Mine died after running for five minutes. Took me five weekes to get around to fixing it. Frigging bunnings.

Mate BB himself has a full 4x4 accessory shop on airport road! he sells the full ironman catalog even a 4x4 dunny and shower, cargo boxes nets everything......

Now in Lao myself with the wife staying at the Eastin so a little out of the way but enjoying Vientiane totally. Enjoyed your vids for about 2 years and convinced myself to come here. Good luck on your big trip with Troopy!!!

Mate if you can't find a cargo net compromise with a hammock 😂here's another thing you won't find is a paint roller tray in Thailand so definitely won't find it in lao,either
the cargo net pic your showing them is more for a plane not the small ones used in cars .rubber grommets to fill the holes in the guards to stop the dust and water or just put some heavy tape over the holes.the tyre compressor the small ones you can only run for about5 minutes then they need to be stopped to cool down or they burn out .cargo net or trailer net.
Sometimes the problem with windscreen washers is that the tank can get manky and either get sucked up to block the jet, or block the filter on the suction tube. You could use eye bolts to fasten to your wheel arch threaded holes (with a couple of flat washers and a nut) please be careful to not foul the tyre with too long a bolt.
Todd, i am a Painter and Decorator. I have many of those ratchet straps in my ute to hold back tree branches although i only know them as the hold back tree branches thing a me jigs. If that helps, Merry Xmas to you all..

Blessings ☦️, it seems your paint on white cruiser is a mat finish and that's the reason why it's stains. Probably needs to be repainted and sealed with few clear coats

Those cheap compressors are junk, they overheat easily & sieze up. Get a good one & mount it under the bonnet, there is heaps of room in those troopies.
Have you got a second battery under the bonnet, you will need one if you are running a car fridge.

When buying spares off the street it should be made in Japan rather you will be sold counterfeit at the price of original items.from spanner oil filters,fan belts.

Sausage sizzle at Bunnings in Oz is now $3.50 so that banger in Laos is quite a lot cheaper. Not got the onions though lol. Have a good Christmas mate.
Todd, I bought a Makita tire inflator at home Depot in the US for $25. It runs off an 18 volt battery like the drills ect and its fast. Good luck 🤞
Hi Todd, here in Thailand I do a lot of online shopping through Lazada, or Shopee. I usually manage to find what I want there and get it delivered to the door. Not sure whether you have the same in Laos. Seasons greetings and a very Happy and Blessed New Year to the three of you.😀❤🙏
Roundabout confusion, same as Thailand (and still in parts of Oz).
What about making a second floor in the back about 30 to 40cm up then you will be able to put all the stuff under there and have a big space above for sleep ect...
Would also been putting in a single Seat on one of the side in the back so you all 3 will have a more safe and comfortable ride Sir
Then put up a safety net behind the back set job done 😊

Todd he wasn't taking up 2 lanes. He was just taking his half out of the middle. 😖 The traffic is about the same here. It's a wonder there aren't more crashes. in the last several years the Americans have been putting in a lot of round-a-bouts. OMG what a mess. Um it's been 25 plus year since I been to Vientiane Lao but I remember the meat rings are dog meat nit dog food but meat from a cooked dog. I'm still traumatized from finding that one out and finding out how the dog is cooked. Sorry Todd . Hope I'm wrong.

Because you give way on the roundabout, Lao road rules follow the French system. The French have now changed their mind and operate roundabouts like sane people. I read this in my daughter's English textbook.

You will always pay the farang tax if Nee Nee is not with you to negotiate, it's just the way it is.
As a farang you are judged to be wealthier than a local with some exceptions and your lack of fluency in the Lao/ Thai language will always work against you even after years of residency. Thai's are worse than Lao when it comes to fleecing the farang by over charging.
