About the shouting of season 4, I recommend to you, Holden, the following strategy: - Take the first 4 episodes together, because these are two times a two-parter. - Afterwards you can do the 3-part reaction as usual until you‘re done with episode 13. (episode 5-11 are one story episodes and 12-13 is a two parter.) - Then at the end are episodes 14 and 15 left. In terms of runtime you still have to do the same amount of work as with 3 episodes, because the runtime of episode 15 goes double as long due to being the series finale. Best Regards
They recorded these months ago guys. This is Holden's filler while they take a break with the new baby. Everything is already edited and awaiting scheduled release dates.
I have to applaud them for the level of continuity through all installments of Star Wars. The rebel base that they're taking Mon Mothma to is on Dantooine, which is the planet Leia first gives to Tarkin/Vader when they're threatening to destroy Aldaraan. So them going to Dantooine as a sort of preface to that was a really cool idea in :) Also, Wedge's comment at the end about "Flying Solo" from now on was funny because, as we see later, he flies solo in an X-wing lol
Fun fact: The opening sequence of episode 17 was originally going to be the entire episode played from Callus' first person perspective, but they quickly realized it wasn't exactly the best option so they only had the first few minutes in Callus' perspective and the rest in normal Third person. Also, Thrawn's override code is a reference to his Noghri Bodyguard from Zahn's Legends Thrawn trilogy.
Some big character appearances in these episodes. ISB Colonel Yularen was formerly an Admiral in the Republic Navy that served with Anakin in the Clone Wars and was present on the Death Star when it was destroyed. And yes, Mon Mothma was the public leader of the Rebel Alliance in the Original trilogy and she did appear in Rogue One. She also features prominently in Andor, portrayed brilliantly again by Genevieve O’reilly. Looking forward to you both eventually seeing that, but more immediately excited for the next Rebels video. Great stuff next week.
The episode also featured the return of the Tie Defender and the "assassin droid" design was based on the Dark Trooper, which would later be fully reintroduced in The Mandalorian. Both of which were 'expanded universe' content.
@@SomeGuys31415 It was great to see him again in live action after 45 years. I didn’t include that because he wasn’t in any trailers but I guess it’s not really a spoiler unless you’re obsessed like some of us.
@@mauz4588 I guess they’re not really doing the same thing done in legends with each phase of dark troopers, but I’m just patiently waiting to see the phase where a person is still in the suit. It was mentioned in the Mandalorian so they’ve got to show it.
As it was mentioned earlier Colonel Yularen appeared in the Clone Wars as the Admiral of Anakins ship "The Resolute". It is also Yularens voice that narrated the opening intros for the Clone Wars episodes. Also, there is no more Vader in the show. I won't say why, but there won't be any new Vader storylines.
Grand Admiral Thrawn was created by Timothy Zahn for the trilogy of books he wrote, "Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command". Thankfully, George Lucas loved the character so much, that he was brought to life in Rebels, and will also be shown in the upcoming Ahsoka series. He was referenced in The Mandalorian season 2 episode titled "The Jedi". (That's not really a spoiler, as it's common knowledge at this point). The man who voiced Thrawn in Rebels is also going to be his "live action" actor. Lucas considered the "Timothy Zahn Trilogy" to be 'canon' at the time they were written. Given that Dave Filoni is dedicated to Lucas and his vision, he likely considers those books to also be canon, even if Disney hasn't outright stated it.
People have already been talking about Mon Mothma and Yularen's other appearances, but another you might recognize is Gold Leader in episode 18. Jon "Dutch" Vander was also Gold Leader in A New Hope. He was one of the Y wing pilots that Vader shot down. He also appeared in Rogue One via archived footage, however they were able to bring back the actor, Angus MacInnes, to record a few new lines. Here, though, he was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. Another interesting tidbit about Yularen is he also appears in a New Hope in the background during the meeting on the Death Star where Vader chokes Admiral Motti and again later when Han, Luke and Chewbacca are going to break Leia out of the detention area.
3:00 - As mentioned already, if you want to learn more about Thrawn, his origins and motivations, you'll have to read the Thrawn Books. The sad part is, the books canon might be ignored with the upcoming Ahsoka show. Hopefully not, but you never know. Honestly, Thrawn's reasons for why he joined the Empire and his real plans are some legit well done backstory and its a shame if its ignored in his future live action appearances.
There's a reason Zahn has sort of done a reimagining under the auspices of Disney Star Wars - it's not exactly the story from the EU days, but as a way of reworking him into the changed universe, it's pretty decent. And it is kinda cool to follow him a little earlier in his career through those books...
15:10 …. (Looks at what goes down in bad batch show) again extremely recommend watch this. You don’t need to finish rebels or other Star Wars media to jump into it since it pretty much continues right after clone wars ended. Overall it’s mainly leniency if using the word right. The empire in this show have about 15 years of fear and power with them thinking they can easily control ppl without much effort vs the first few years after the clone wars ended.
I must say, I really wish we saw your guys reaction to Mon Mothma's speech at the end of Episode 18. That's such a big deal, I would've love to see what you had to say about it while watching it. (Update after finishing the episodes) Since it wasn't brought up. What did you think of Mon Mothma's speech and the ships arriving bringing birth of the Rebellion?
The tie defender is gonna play a major part on late eps for the rebel alliance. So wanna keep note of them. Hint: how major? If you know your history of world war 2 war vehicles then there is your hint.
I wouldn't expect Vader. No matter what happens, you won't be disappointed. Next week starts finale-ing all the storylines and starts Sabine and Ezra's trip to being my favorite bro/sis team in Star Wars. You won't see it until the last episode but you'll get it then unless you're DEAD INSIDE!
If you paid attention, the tie defender was mentioned MULTIPLE times this season. Anyway, The TIE defender is one of my favorite ships in Star Wars period. Beautiful fighter . Sleek design. Sexy engine sounds. Armament deadly.
I know Jenn is a huge Vader fan but I'm really glad that they're getting into Thrawn. It was rather brilliant of Filoni to incorporate Thrawn because the Empire does need more Vader-esque level Bad Guys. I mean, I really enjoy Vader as well but you can't expect him to be everywhere...and the more they use Vader the less frightening/menacing he becomes cause the more L's he'll have to take in order for good to survive and win in the end. If Vader was a constant character he'd end up being like Skeletor....a hapless bad guy that becomes a joke always vowing to "Get you in the end He-Man!!!" So yeah, Thrawn is an EXTREMELY important character in Star Wars. And I really enjoy that they make him almost Palpatine-esque in the way that "even when he loses he still wins". Like with that infiltration droid. He seemed to take a big L with a star destroyer blowing up and everything. But he still wins by drastically narrowing his search.
TIE Defenders were introduced in the Old X-Wing Series of games, Definitely in the second one (TIE Fighter)... maybe in the original X-Wing as well, but I'm pretty sure they're introduced TIE Fighter. Thrawn was also in that game.
Did you recognize Yu Laren from Clone Wars? The then admiral always under the command of Anakin Skywalker? No matter how impressive the TIE Defender is, it's still vulnerable to ionic weapons... The rebels pulled a Riker Maneuver on the Imperial ships. (if you know Star Trek Insurrection, you know what I'm talking about). The Imperial spy agents wear the same cybernetic implants as Lobot, Lando's henchman in Empire Strikes Back.
Hey, Holden! No recognition for Wullf Yularen despite seeing him in live-action in "A New Hope" and in "Andor" as well as multiple times on "Clone Wars". Still no recognition of Wedge Antilles.
