I'm pretty sure The Covenant's poster is actually supposed to be a play on the old The Craft poster. Which makes sense actually, like I can totally see this movie being pitched as "the sexy male version of the craft for modern teen girls" lol
I watched the entire 14-movie Air Bud franchise this year, so it’s safe to say I’ve seen some bad ones. the last movie has aliens in it… that was my rock bottom.
Watched The Voyeurs just to feel something. Thank you to you and your flatmate. My jaw fully dropped at THE twist… honestly at everything. The BALLS on the writer(s)!!! Lord have mercy.
actually i remember pre-movie twilight fandom REALLY wanting the sky high fire guy to be cast as jacob in the movie. like you can still find twilight movie fan MVs with him and emily browning. i think chase crawford was some peoples pick for edward too.
I first watched the covenant to thirst after Sebastian Stan and Steven Strait but not even their sex appeal could save the movie. To this day, I've never watched the full thing because it literally puts me to sleep 😂 (also the racism in little Italy is probably the most italian thing in the movie)
It's fun to hear you talk about really bad movies I've never seen. I'm so interested in the tipping point when bad becomes so bad that it's somehow more enjoyable than the simply mediocre. I hope you continue to make more videos!
I watched The Voyeurs today and really needed someone to talk about it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see you mention it in this video lol. it really was an... experience

It’s crazy how many in the movies in the 90s painted men who have sex with “seduced” by teens as a person we’re supposed to root for. I’m sorry 90s cinema but I will not feel bad for a mediocre white man who can’t keep it in his pants. Those days have passed.

Hayden Christensen is part Italian though. The problem is that they insisted on making the family all Sicilian and not say Neapolitan which are what they could more pull off.
Andrea Martin being in Little Italy AND the my big fat greek wedding series is so funny, just cashing in on that vaguely ambiguous Mediterranean vibe for dayzzzz
Babe wake up new Jane Mulcahy vid just dropped Also loved how the recommended video for this was a clip from If I Stay, another very weird bad film that balances that cringe to campy vibe for me
OK the covenant holds a very special place in my heart - for the absolute longest, it was my friends and my favorite good bad movie. We watched it every Halloween, we all had our favorite of the group, I even wrote a fanfiction about it as a wee teen - I love that movie so much, cringe and all lol
1. I'm so happy The Covenant finally gets the recignition it deserves by someone! I discovered it a few years ago and it instantly became my fav guilty pleasure movie (besides Charlie's Angels 2 & Waterworld). Yeah, I'm queer. 2. Fun fact: Little Italy was literally titled Pizza Romance in Hungary.
the worst movie I’ve watched this year is get a job- my alison brie addiction is constantly being challenged by her TERRIBLE movie choices. it was honestly just not funny at all despite allegedly being a comedy movie. my summer is boring, as expected, but I kinda like boring. and no I haven’t sensually eaten pizza on a first date, but don’t get me wrong, I would! i'm so happy to see an upload from you today :) to be honest your videos have inspired me to watch/rewatch most of the movies and tv ive seen this year so far
I'm so excited every time you upload 😌 I enjoy the in depth videos you make, I love movies and watching those weird one off titles. The Covenant was my favorite as a kid 😂
i see you also do that thing where you're like "hmm i wonder what other movies this actor has been in?" and end up watching the randomest movies on earth lol it's always soo funny. i almost watched covenant when i was obsessed with sebastian stan as a teenager and now i'm so disappointed i didn't loll
Omg me too except with my sister my mom and grandma introduced us to them and then we became obsessed… every single story is insane and most of the time really bad but I love to hate watch things so I can’t stop with the lifetime or hallmark movies (but WAY more lifetime then hallmark since I love a good horror or drama or mystery)
okay, i have finally seen the voyeurs, and what the actual fuck was that lmao. no matter how much this prepared me for the twists, i was not prepared for the twists??!!! i genuinely don't know how i feel right now lmao, like wow, that was something indeed
I mean I assume you thought it went without saying but I think you really have to acknowledge how Covenant was clearly trying to do a male version of The Craft, down to the poster and was trying to get the same demographic.
I watched the voyeurs when it came out and for the life of me can't figure out the twist you are talking about. There were so many twists, that their collective impact have been forgotten.
An underappreciated gem in British media is a 2008 mini series (142 minutes, but having it divided into 5 episodes adds to it IMO) Dead Set. The British version of Big Brother is filming/airing, as a zombie outbreak occurs. I don't remember how I found it, probably on Hulu, when I was interested in how reality TV handled 9/11 so I watched the first seasons of Survivor and Big Brother, which watching the progression of those shows when you can watch a decade at a time is something else.
Can you please do a video of your 5 or 10 favorite/the best Lifetime movies you've seen? The one with Kevin Arnold and DJ Tanner ("No One Would Tell") as well as "A Killer Among Friends" will forever hold a place in my heart.
All the dudes in The Covenant are always sweaty like they’re ODing on ‘ron or something. Like when that guy woke up and answered the phone all sweaty it was like he came out of heavy nod.
"when a bad movie is bad like in nuanced intricate beautiful ways you can just unpack it forever" soooo true my WORD. that's how I feel about stuff like strippers vs werewolves and madame web.
I was 14 when the covenant came out and teenage movies portrayed teenage boys that way, i feel like it’s because they were “the bad boys with a good heart”, but also i think we didn’t understood misogyny as much (or i didn’t).
I love watching any non-Disney animated movie I can get my hands on and this year I watched this movie called Strange Magic. It was so horrible but I also adore it and I can’t stop thinking about how weird it was. It’s a juke box musical, which I didn’t know going in, and that made the experience infinitely more entertaining/horrifying
As soon as I finished this video I immediately went to watch The Voyeurs and… what. Like. What the fuck. I… don’t even know what to say. It had a good soundtrack at least?
Omg thank you for talking about Little Italy. I had no idea what it was when I watched it. I was just scrolling Netflix and settled on it because it looked dumb, which was what I was in the mood for. I tried to describe it to my friend and I didn't even know where to begin. Aside from the blatant racism, the scene where the cop is feeling up Hayden Christensen won't leave my brain. It was written to be funny, but the concept isn't funny and if it had been done to Emma Roberts's character, it would've been horrifying to a much wider audience... but I guess because Hayden Christensen is a man, I'm supposed to think it's hilarious. Everyone responsible for this movie should just spend some time reflecting on being whatever the opposite of this is.
To answer your question about why they would cast Non-Italian actors to play the leads. Apparently this is a remake of the movie Mystic Pizza which was Julia Roberts first big movie, so that's why they casted her niece Emma Roberts to play the lead. In the poster you show, Emma is wearing the same shirt Julia Roberts wears as her uniform.
Honestly the covenant is also baffling because it never really resolves its own plot. Like the whole movie is about the main guy turning 18 (cuz when he turns 18 his powers fully mature) and if he can control himself (cuz using his powers basically rapidly ages him). However the movie never really addresses this, his father just relinquishes his power to save main guy so he can defeat Sebastian stan. And like after Sebastian stan dies the movie just like abruptly ends. It's kinda maddening. There's just so many weird dropped off plots.
I just watched 'My Son' on Roku. It stars James McAvoy and Claire Foy as divorced parents of a boy who was kidnapped from sleep away camp, all set in Scotland. I don't think the accents were that great, it moved quickly but generally didn't make much sense. Definitely seemed like it was trying to be a Scottish version of Taken, but the dad wasn't as well connected and just a dad. 2/5 stars.
The Voyeurs was terrible! My boyfriend and I hate watched the entire thing, we were pissed by the end but gotta give it to them, it was a wild ride lmao
Alyce kills ok prime is crazy. Crazy bad but you can’t stop watching as well. It suppose to be like she falls down the rabbit hole but the rabbit hole is going crazy because she pushed her friend off a roof for no reason and then goes on a killing spree for no reason as well.
@@jane-mulcahy the final plot twist was honestly just annoying more than anything. honesty, felt so sloppy. also you are so right about most of it just being Sydney being oversexualized once again.

I was about to type this out. XD
That's the first thing I thought of before she said Stand By Me. 🤷♀️
The Covenant is iconic if only for providing the sole footage for all the marauder fmvs back in the day. Time capsule content.
this is such a funny perspective... never would've considered that angle 😂
the guy who looks like taylor lautner was actually the first option when it came to playing jacob 😭
WHAT that blows my mind, I spent all of the Covenant thinking "this guy looks so much like Jacob!!"
I watched the entire 14-movie Air Bud franchise this year, so it’s safe to say I’ve seen some bad ones. the last movie has aliens in it… that was my rock bottom.
i think the Covenant's poster is more trying to emulate that of the Craft with twilight hues lol but either way.
that's true actually! I had forgotten what that poster looked like
The Covenant is my all time favourite bad movie. It was my sexual awakening as a kid, thank you Sebastian and Steven and (Renny Harlin).

I actually can't believe I didn't think of that as a possibility lmao
@@jane-mulcahy very few movies serve any other purpose
The Guilty Pleasures podcast has a great episode about Little Italy!
If you don't like the film then don't watch it; I, for one, enjoyed it even though some of the casting choices seemed off. Danny Aelo rest in peace.
You guys are a bunch of haters; just watch the film and enjoy the Italian culture...plus Emma Roberts and Christian Hayden (sp) are a bonus.
