    A week ago I got my first wood burning tool. So happy I found your channel, to feel more prepared before I start my first project. It has been so helpful watching your videos, and I realised there is a lot more to it, than what I originally thought. So that just made me even more excited!!

    Thank you very much. I just ordered a new woodburning kit. I have a lot of junk wood in my yard. Now, I want to make art out of it. Anna. 🥰😍🤩👍❤

    enjoying your videos as a newbie. Question here for wood prep. After sanding.. do you burnish your wood at all? Somewhere, I heard that helps the tips glide over the wood better/easier.

      Burnishing leaves a very satisfying surface to burn. However, some finishes won’t adhere to burnished or polished surfaces. I prefer to keep it to a 220 grit for that reason. But again, this is something that’s totally up to your preference. Happy burning!

    Love your videos!! I am overwhelmed by all the types of sanders - what exactly should I be looking for?

      Glad my videos are helpful! I like a sander that has dust collection and a good amount of power. Usually I have to go to the reviews to find out how good it is. I really like my dewalt: amzn.to/3evTm4T Hope that helps 🙌

    Any tips on how to efficiently sand multiple small pieces? I have my Random Orbit Sander which is great for medium and big pieces, but I like to burn on smaller (diameter of less than 4cm) woodcookies (just learned that adorable term in the comments of this video) and it seems to me like there has to be a way to get multiple done fast without gluing one side to the table so they are fixed and can be sanded over with the ROS....

      I don’t know that my method is much different. I don’t glue them down, but I do use painters tape and roll it up underneath the wood. Then I will place them right next to each other like a checkerboard and sand them all at once. Sometimes I will put them in an upside down box lid to make sure they don’t move from side to side, but the sander has a hard time getting in those corners

      @@BurnSavvy Painters tape is a neat idea. The tape I would've used would probably leave marks. Thanks :)

    how do you prevent raw wood cookie rounds from splitting?

    • @BurnSavvy
      @BurnSavvy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That has to do with the quickness of drying or the amount of moisture in the wood cookie. The faster it dries the more likely it is to crack. The more moisture it has, the more likely it is to crack as it dries. For me I have found it best to dry them super slowly, but since wood is a natural product and it can’t be perfectly controlled, every now and again there will be some cracking. Hope that helps!

    220 grid? Huh. I used 1100 for my last few ones.
    Absolutely unnecessary, I'm sure, but the feel!^^

    • @BurnSavvy
      @BurnSavvy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That buttery, smooth feel is hard to beat! I love that polished feel. The reason I don’t go any higher than 220 grit is for the sake of the sealants. But it sure is delicious to burn.

      @@BurnSavvy Oh, good point...
      And sanding hight, burning and then sanding low seems a bit over the top just for that. XP
      Will keep that in mind and check my results with higher and lower grid!

    1:45 Why is it important to sand in the direction of the grain?

    • @BurnSavvy
      @BurnSavvy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sanding strokes typically show up on the finished piece of wood, even more so if you add color or stain. To avoid that, sand in the direction of the wood grain.
