It's a wonderful demo. I loved the idea of making all the thumbnails on a single canvas. And perhaps even framing it. I must confess I sometimes feel overwhelmed by how quickly you just allow magical scenes flow on to the canvas.
A wonderful idea Malcolm! Exactly what I needed. Every time I want to start a painting, I find it a schlepp to select a painting surface, paints, a good brush, etc. By then sometimes the urge and inspiration is gone. If such a panel is ready all the time, one of the reasons for procrastination is already gone.😊
It's fun but not as easy as looks🙂 Watching you Malcolm, when you create these fun little works of art, every color note is thought out and put in the right place,so that the finished painting, although small, looks great!
Love this idea Malcolm. Loved the no painting police and will take this to heart. I love your work and really appreciate your tips and workshops. Thankyou cheers Annie
Love it ❤ currently playing with watercolor and gouache in following your course Illustrated Journals for Mindfulness & Creativity. Very light, loose and so playfull. I told my perfectionist to take a step back. This exercise I can add to it. Loads of gratitude you keep sharing your creative exercises. I got so inspired! Thank you Malcolm.
Hi Malcolm. I revisited this video and you inspired me to do something like this for the latest assignment of our Live Class, painting an olive grove. I submitted it for your critique and look forward to hear what you think of it. Thanks for all the inspiration you give through your videos.
That quick grass roots choice if colour, content and execution are a pkeasure to see. Coming from a career as a commercial illustrator, the painting police are often to be found with me and I need to move toward something less controlled. Thankyou!
If there were 'color police', you would never receive a ticket as your choices are a visual delight. :) You asked for suggestions of what to cover, so here is mine: how would you suggest we select our colors? Beyond cool vs warm, dark vs light, what else can guide us? For example, the mountain in your painting probably wasn't orange and purple as shown, and yet your representation is lovely. I find it challenging to look beyond trying to color match my paint to the exact color of each shape/object. Thanks! Ann
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS IDEA!!
Thank you! 😊
Thanku Malcolm, I’m going to try it! Great idea. 😁
Hope you enjoy

I'm happy you like the idea. Painting these is a great way to get into a flow state, which makes it seem easier. No pressure is the key I think.
