Yeah i know that feeling. Ice beam is my favorite beam in metroid. Don't get me wrong the ice missile ability was a cool idea but it felt like a complete cop out. Really wish you could've gotten ice beam a lot sooner in the game. Having it only for the last boss felt like such a tease. Same can be said for the suit.
I made a hack of fusion at one point that removed the freezing attributes on most enemies (leaving the ones like ripper unchanged) so I guess 2 years ago that did really annoy me
@Ironeagle 777 i might be wrong about this but it may have been due to how both of the weapons worked with the ice beam happening internally in the suit(arm cannon specifically), but the ice missles effect not happening inside the suit/arm cannon since it causes its freezing effect only when it manages to hit the opponent. (Basically that the ice or freezing effect is kept in the missle casing allowing samus to use it without any harm to herself)

The Combo of Wave Beam, Plasma Beam and Ice Beam was always the most powerful combo in Super Metroid as it's as expanded as wide expanded as Spazer/Wide Beam and causes as much damage as a Super Missile And now all beams Combined it's literally the Murder Beam that only exists as a Glitch in Super Metroid

Yeah, but it changed its sprite and amount of damage in Fusion. From two lines of waving (representing Wave Beam) blue (representing Ice Beam) straight lines (representing Plasma Beam) to a more modern visualization of it: three lines (representing the Spazer Beam, even though it isn't possible) of blue (representing Ice Beam) waving waves (representing Wave Beam) with frozen details (representing Ice Beam) and sharp point (representing the Plasma Beam). And the damage: From an instant killer, to a constant instant killer: 36 damage/frame (which can go up to 360 PRETTY quickly, and no enemy has more than 300 health)
I love how the Icebeam is somehow the ultimate weapon of a game, even tho it originally started out as an absolute gimmick.(It halved DPS in Metroid1 and wasn't even technically required to beat it.)

@@lpfan4491 Ah, guess I should walk that back slightly... I meant "bad" as in "generally impractical for combat if used exclusivly". You could get by with just Power Beam missile combo or raw plasma beam for most fights (especially against space pirates), but it would be much harder to do that with ice, or to a lesser degree, wave. The one good use for Ice beam that comes to mind is freezing metroids or ice troopers before firing a missile at them. :) Then again, I've only player the game through twice (once normal mode, once hard), so I guess I might just be speaking from ignorance. I've read about ice spreader being useful on the final boss, but never tried that myself.
Yes, New Game+ implies that everything is unlocked to you from the beginning, with no cutscenes, but it also implies that you have to look for the things you want, and for getting the Ice Beam + X Power Suit, you have to defeat SA-X and get its Core-X, both of which have a lot of health, so getting it from the beginning is hard (but not impossible, because you only need the Charge Beam, and if you know how to dodge its attacks, you're free to go)
The only time I ever cut footage was during my no-death run because I don't want anyone to witness me die 500 times. I've never spliced a speedrun because it ruins the entire purpose of a speedrun.

Only the creatures in Sector 1 come from SR388 and the other sectors have creatures from other planets; Fusion is very specific about this, especially in the Japanese text. Serris being in AM2R is a continuity issue if it was canon.

Something having to do with the way to grow in their planet on SR388? The final boss in metroid in Fusion is still vulnerable to ice beam... The Ice Beam seems really weird programming wise. It seems like it can destroy things uncharged that other beams can’t, and it can even destroy power up specific blocks. Why would they program it to have all of these functions? Was it easier than just programming it like any other beam?
It's interesting you bring this up as I have never thought of this before. It is weird that the Ice Beam and kill things like those things that are before boss rooms (I forgot their name). As for the Netori plants, that was me messing with the weaknesses and forgetting to untick those. Oops. I had no quality control 3 years ago. You know thinking about what I said. I wonder if I didnt mess with those too.
My guess is, they originally intended the Ice Beam to stay permanently if you beat the game and then load the savefile again, as a little help for getting all the items you missed. Kinda like in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, where you get Metaknight's sword after beating the final boss, which can solve almost any puzzle in the game. But maybe they scrapped the idea at some point, dunno. I might be completely wrong tho
You mean if you give yourself everything before the actual fight? Nothing. the SA-X is made to not take damage from anything unless its at the final fight
There exists 2 versions of the Omega Metroid, one which cannot take damage from anything and one which is set to take damage from beams. In the room, the second is used (I checked) but it probably switches them out and switches them back when the SA-X dies. (As for how it switches them out, I have no idea)
@@zacsolo1594it doesn't get switched out, there's a certain event when the omega metroid lets out it's roar when you absorb the SA-X Core-X, that event will trigger and make the ice beam available to damage Omega, also seen in the debug menu
Metroid Fusion has this extremely weird behavior that, if you already own the the upgradae, the boss wont spawn. Either or you messed with the events and caused something to skip him

The change happens due to not only Samus recovering all her lost suit pieces, but also recovering from the SA-X her missing genetic info. The info that she lost after the scientists gave her the metroid vaccine, which saved her from the x parasite infection but changed her at the genetic level. So essentially, reclaiming the ice beam from the SA-X restores her to her original state before they had to surgically remove her original suit from her.

your playing so poorly that it doesnt even make a difference, im pretty sure you can kill serris in 2 charged hits with the normal charge beam you have at that point, you needed how many, like 4? (it has to be a point blank shot to deal the most damage possible, you got several really bad hits in)
I'm aware of how bad this video is and I actively hate it. It suffers from being the most watched thing on my channel though. I've killed Serris with point blank several time since then. I know I can kill way more bosses with the ice beam but at this point it wouldn't matter. Even if I uploaded a fixed version I'd only get what, 1k views at best.

My main issue with ice missiles was it made your 1 shot super missiles into a 2 shot.

I mean it is ultimately used to exterminate the Metroids, so it’s very important in that regard.
You can’t get past the first room in Tourian without killing the Metroid, and as far as I know, you can’t kill them unless you freeze them first.

Both, you can modify pretty much anything in there. Events, items, your missile/power bombs, door levels, map unlocked, etc.

I think its because Samus has fully recovered all her amputated suit parts.

The change happens due to not only Samus recovering all her lost suit pieces, but also recovering from the SA-X her missing genetic info. The info that she lost after the scientists gave her the metroid vaccine, which saved her from the x parasite infection but changed her at the genetic level.
So essentially, reclaiming the ice beam from the SA-X restores her to her original state before they had to surgically remove her original suit from her.
I find it strange that the metroid vaccine didnt erase the ice beam. In the case, would this mean the X grew stronger than the Metroid?

Pero obvio que está usando trucos/alteración del juego para tener el rayo hielo ya que no se puede obtener hasta el final del juego.
El señor solo hace una demostración de como sería una batalla contra los jefes del metroid fusión teniendo el rayo de hielo incorporado.

your playing so poorly that it doesnt even make a difference, im pretty sure you can kill serris in 2 charged hits with the normal charge beam you have at that point, you needed how many, like 4? (it has to be a point blank shot to deal the most damage possible, you got several really bad hits in)
I'm aware of how bad this video is and I actively hate it. It suffers from being the most watched thing on my channel though. I've killed Serris with point blank several time since then. I know I can kill way more bosses with the ice beam but at this point it wouldn't matter. Even if I uploaded a fixed version I'd only get what, 1k views at best.
