    Pretty slick device. I wasn’t aware anything like this existed. I’ve seen a lot of people attach different latches to lock the rear and side doors from the inside, but of course, that still leaves the front doors vulnerable to break in. I know some people hook up a Simplisafe or Ring alarm system in their vans and RV’s and install the glass breakage sensors with the systems which is a great way to scare off anyone breaking in, but if possible, the best system is to prevent people from even attempting to break in. The Thunderbolt system keeps anyone from entering through the doors and, although they can still break the windows, not too many people will want to climb through the window, grab what they can and climb back out as speed is the name of the game. I would feel more secure with the Thunderbolt system while I was in the van knowing that nobody could enter through the doors. If they broke the glass while you’re in the van, well that’s when you draw the intimidator!

    That one on the back doors is going to be completely useless.

    That looks like a pretty nice solution. Should definitely give you some peace of mind. Thanks for sharing!

    Dude, they just disk cutter the sides and open you up like a can, had my van done and all my tools taken a few years ago, the uk has a big van theft problem at the moment

      I've always thought about this. The hinges seem to be the most vulnerable..

    If someone smashes a window and unlocks your vehicle from the inside, with it being feathered to the central locking won’t all the thunderbolt locks unlock as well?

      The Sprinter locking system goes dormant. However, some vans like the Transit do not, so Thunderbolt has Lock Conversion Relays to prevent it from happening.

    That clip you showed of the woman crying was bittersweet. I met her and her husband (from the Eamon and Bec youtube channel) when they were in my city and i helped them repair the table you see in the clip. (The lighter bands in the middle and on the top were ones I installed to fix the break they had in that table). So it is always nice to see my work (as simple as it was), but my heart breaks every time for them in that moment as i unfortunately know how it feels ....

      Keyed manual release or trickle charger under the van

    Good info, I've been thinking of doing a conversion of a U-Haul box truck for stealth camping and I could see using this system.

    I would extend the rear door locks by at least 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch if not a half inch. If they get those back doors opened by a 1/4 inch all it will take is a small crowbar to gain access to your van and your personal items like they to to Emon and Bec! Yes I've watched the Emon & Bec van getting robbed video the day they posted it. Speaking of which, since they've stopped doing "vanlife" they've fallen off my algorithm. I need to see if Bec had the baby!!!!! BRB

    Interesting design for a locking system. The only thing you'd have to worry about is someone smashing a window or cloning the fob (which really only seems common in some places), but it is at least another level of deterrent for those that would try to break in.

    Rear isn’t keeping anyone out and what if someone gets key fob frequency when you’re locking or has ford codes for frequencies??. Better options for less $ and hassle. If it’s that easy to lock and unlock it’s not secure. Internal deadbolts on front doors from HEOs combined with a dual option on side and/or rear. These are least sturdy, easiest to unlock and higher in cost of all options. If you want security you need multiple lock and this being one of them isn’t financially a good decision unless you at least get thier fob then instal is even more timely while cost is increased reaching and surpassing point of diminishing return.

    I think you'll lose the bet. You should lock each back door on the floor not on each other. Due to the fact they have a butterfly opening, it's quite useless to lock one on each other.

    • @johnscaletta816
      @johnscaletta816 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rear driver-side door stay locked and does not butterfly out, so the doors stay secured when the deadbolt is engaged.

    all the security in the world will never stop a thief ... except a hidden power cut off switch they dont have enough time to figure it out

      Where does one get a power off switch?
