The A scenario had an "Alien" horror-vibe with a race against time feeling due to sherry being infected with an embryo. The B scenario had a "Terminator" horror vibe due to Mr.X stalking Leon and Ada throughout the scenario. The boss fights says it all. While Claire fights Birkin in a room filled with tanks containing God knows what(Birkin mirrors the Xenomorph), Leon fights Mr.X in the industrial part of the laboratory(Mirroring the final battle in Terminator 2).

I think at this point, this battle was personal for Leon. Considering the fact that T-00 "killed" Ada. Also just to add, why else would they use this music with this boss fight? I mean Leon was running long enough it was time to fight back with whatever shit he had left. If they wanted to make it scary they could've made or used a different theme.
This is actually IS somewhat scary, it gives you the atmosphere of desparation slowly crawling in, since your weapon doesh't seem to even affect new Tyrant, and you running out of herbs/sprays and ammo, and time is ticking down, and you failing to dodge his sweep attacks more often, it's good for struggling to fight just before help arrives when unexpected.
One of the many reasons I only play this game Claire A/Leon B. This fight feels personal for Leon while the final fight with G in the A Route feels personal for Claire after all the shit he puts Sherry through.
For me it's a race against time to get the train started before the place goes up in flames and then there's also this creature to deal with so it's more desperation for me
They definetely nerfed Mr. X's power and transformation in the remake. In the original he falls into a lava pit and he simply loses the power limiter and then this beast emerges, in the remake a simple explosion destroys half of his face and chest and makes him mutate in a way smaller and less powerful version of this tyrant. At the same time the remake made him more menacing and entertaining to fight though, thanks to the modern ingame mechanics.
I think because the Remake wanted to make it an actual boss battle. The original one is incredibly easy, just walk left and shoot until the rocket comes down.
Feel sorry for folks who only played the RE2 Remake, they'll never witness Mr X transform into this perfect super tyrant with eight giant claws and the running speed of a supercar. Along with this epic soundtrack and the cheesy one liners from Leon/Claire. I bet Wesker would fanboy even harder over this tyrant compared to the one in RE1.

The whole scenario seemed to play in slow motion for Leon as he saw the rocket zoom through the air and collided with the Tyrant's chest, as soon as it made contact the rocket blew up in a fiery explosion, killing and putting a gruesome end to the beasts rein of terror.

I made this fight way way harder for me as a kid. For some reason, since regular guns can't kill Mr X or other bosses that require a special means of defeat, i assumed that guns had no effect whatsoever. So i would go into these fights with no weapons and all the healing items I could carry and try to stay alive until the rocket launcher was given to me. So I had to survive significantly longer than if I had just fought him like any other boss. As such Mr X was super difficult and the tyrant plane fight in Code Veronica was unbelievably hard. In fact, i couldn't beat the final boss because of this assumption. I figured if I survived long enough, the linear launcher will eventually become available; but that wasn't the case. So when I finally learned that I have to do enough damage to get to the next phase instead of survive, i went back to the previous games and applied my newfound knowledge. And yeah it was exponentially easier and i was making the game way harder than it needed to be. Oh and i also didn't know how to turn auto aim on for the longest time so yet another thing that made the games way harder than they really were. I wasn't a smart kid back then lol. But on the bright side, it made me efficient at the gameplay and I can do challenge runs in resident evil games nowadays.

It's funny that you say that, because Devil May Cry was originally conceptualized as a Resident Evil game. But because it strayed so far away from the feel of Resident Evil (what with demon hunting and everything) that they just decided to turn it into it's own game. And thus, Devil May Cry was born.
The money it made them from the sale of BOW's to government organisations and clandestine groups, mostly. People wanted it, Umbrella simply delivered. It was only when the Raccoon City Outbreak happened that the public became aware of what was going on so governments had to appear to be abhorred by it, but the governments were well aware and were Umbrella's top paying customers.
That blob wasn't the tyrant, it was Birkin, and yes, it's too easy, not a propper boss, BUT the guys down here are talking about the tyrant fight, that is actually a proper boss, and as they say, it's "arguably" the hardest boss of the game.
