    Ted, Love the videos keep'em coming. From personal experience I found putting a crown in the road prevents potholes by allowing the water to run off the side rather than pooing up.

    everyone is worried about the crown, if you want crown in the drive way (its gravel, its gonna drain if its of sufficient thickness) just get a 48" leveler and do it in halves with the blades angled to the center. this tool is an awesome tool.

    Because the blades are sweeping from right to left if you always run on the right side of the road it will pull the material from the outside of the road and drop it in the middle creating a crown.

    If used correctly you can crown your drive with it. I do mine with a 6'. You merely ride on the left side and raise the adjusting arm so that when raise the lifting bars the outside arm has slack and doesn't move. Or vice versa you can lower the adjusting arm and the left arm will rise on its own. With this you would need to be on the opposite side of the drive. This tool is a dream for anyone with a long drive. Mine is around 1000 ft. These don't leave dips as bad as box blades.

    John Markelewicz The specs on your Kubota show it is 44.5 inches wide, the smallest size we have is our 60" that weighs 458 lbs. It seems that your should be able to pull it fine, as long as the road isn't a steep incline. If you have any questions give us a call.

    Use an angle blade instead of a land leveler. A land leveler is great for leveling land. A road is not supposed to be level. That's why they build crowns into roads. Get the right tool for the right job. Angle blade for road maintenance.

    • @kameljoe21
      @kameljoe21 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An angle blade will only pull the material from the edge to the middle leaving a pile that has to be dealt with. These are privaget driveways and a crown is really the least of anyone's worry. Land planes are used because they roll the larger rocks to the surface and the fine dust and silt is washed away. This road has more than enough rock in it to last with proper maintenance. You can tell that they have not done anything with this road for years and years. Using a land plane monthly will keep your driveway clean and free from sunken and sloppy wet areas. Thus the reason to level it out. Driving over it with out maintenance will create those ruts that will turn to mud and pot holes.
      Angle blade moves material from one side to the other.
      Box blade moves material from one areas to another.
      Land plane level the materiel where it is at.
      As you can see there are needs for each one yet a land plane on a driveway is really the way to go.

      I have and use a couple of these. If you just think about how you are running the machine, these work very well to blade a road flat, cut down a crown, or build a crown, even build a new road. If you get a model with scarifiers mounted, you can run them about 1 inch deep, just enough to loosen the top for blading, and this job would have gone much faster.

    Even though this implement is working quite nicely, taking the crown off of the road is detrimental, you should maintain the crown. Perhaps it would be better if you stick to the right hand side of the road only.

    Actually the attachment automatically puts a slight crown in the road. You may think it is level but the angle of the blade will automatically force more material to the middle. And that is the way you want it as it allows for water to be carried off the road as quick as possible. Actually a 7' leveler is too big for a driveway like this. A 5' leveler would work perfect.

    I think I made a mistake. I wanted to smooth out my driveway a little. It is a very packed logging road with large 3" or larger stone. I used my rake and it pulled up a lot of stone on top and now its such a rough ride. Oh my goodness it will chip your teeth. Should I just rake off all the big rocks I can and then add crush run on top?

    Why would you want to take the "Crown" out of the road structure, they are there for a reason ?

    • @artgoat
      @artgoat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On a paved road, they help the road shed water into the gutters. On a gravel road, the crown happens because of gravel displaced from the tire tracks. That results in the water collecting and flowing in the tire tracks, and rutting them out worse. Dispersing the crown fills the tire tracks back in and makes them less prone to erosion.

      You and me would think so because if no crown water sits on road & when driven on makes puddles turn into huge potholes.
      Yet another reason this tool is junk. Need a better took that will do one pass on each side of crown ripping, and then spreading and packing with little to no bounce.

    I guess i don't see why you would want to get rid of your crown? Thats what gets the water off to the sides instead of puddling up on your flat spots because then when cars drive through the puddles the splash pushes the rock out creating pot holes. Just my opinion but we got about a 100yrd gravel drive and the crown seems to work best for us.

I have bought one and it works great, but how do you set it up so that it will pull the gravel that gets built up on the edge of the drive to the center of the driveway. I always run on the right side of the drive way but it is not pulling it over to the left side of the grader. I thought that was why the left side was further back than the right side.

      adjusting the tractor’s side links if desired.

  • @edspencer7121
    @edspencer7121 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just subbed your channel, good 411! A question about setting up the leveler; I see you had to lengthen the top link to get more cut on the back blade, but as your dragging are you applying down pressure on the rig or letting it "float"? Also, can a person create a crown on the center of the driveway by adjusting the lift rods on the 3 point so your right lift arm is lower and left lift arm is higher. Of course lower side to the outside of the driveway.

    • @EverythingAttachments
      @EverythingAttachments  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Yes, top link adjustment is necessary to get it dialed in so it will produce the best results for your particular application. No down force is being applied, so a heavier model should produce better results faster. Our new EA Xtreme models have an aggressive 10 degree cutting edge angle, which also helps! You can adjust the tractor's side links to create/maintain a crown. Sure! It probably won't be very grassy when you're finished. I'd go with a model with ripper shanks. The best can be found here www.everythingattachments.com/Tractor-Land-Levelers-Land-Graders-s/9893.htm

    Put four or more sacks of quikkrete or sand bags on it and see how much better it grades.

      It can help lighter models because weight definitely produces results. We've since designed our own model and it is taller, deeper and HEAVIER, so additional weight isn't needed. Why would you take the crown out??

    Don’t you want a gravel drive to be packed and hard?

    Why would you want something that is going to take the crown out of the road? The crown helps get the water off the road to keep if from washing out.
    I have a private road out by one of my properties that I am trying to put a crown on the road. What is really sad is there is only 2 of us that blade the road, everybody else does not help out one bit and there must be 20 people that use the road, and 1 place out there is running a business that really tears up the road quickly, hauling out brick, marble, and pulling trailers with all type of equipment and nobody thanks us for all the work that goes into trying to keep up the road.
    But I am using a box blade and just purchased a 7' 3 point blade trying to put a crown on the road, did not help it when I did it last week it dumped 3.5" of rain on it and washed it out and made a sloppy muddy mess for everybody.

      only way I would know would be to start from the middle and work out digging it deeper, best thing to do it borrow a blade and set it to dig the sides back out and reshape the road. I bought one so I could do my own as well as the private road that goes to my property, seems as though every time I do it, it rains within a few days and makes a big mess out of it,
      It also does not help that some Hispanics that live down the road are running a business out of their place and use the road 100 to my 1 at least, and hauling big loads all the time and also speed down the road every time I fix it, and they have never said thanks, offered to help, or even do one bit of work to the road. We got over 3" of rain last week and the small bridge that is in front of my place that I do not even use was under water, he had the never to tell me that I needed to add another 36" pipe to help the water flow under the road from his place... I told him to piss off and do it himself, and that I did not need nor ever use that bridge and could careless if it was even usable, I did not need it to get in and out of my property. I thought I would throw that little part in when it comes to shared roads...

    Shouldn’t take the crown out of the road, that will cause water to stand in the road

    you don't want the road flat. it needs a crown or slope.

    Don't you want a crown to drain water off the sides?
