    Thank you so much!

    Thank you so much for this. I bought your animation lessons pack about a year ago but I've never actually tried to do anything with them. I just thought by looking at them that it would automatically make me better at animating(I know I'm terrible) but I was wrong and my animations were still looking bad and stiff. When you posted this I actually had the motivation to open up my own TVpaint and practice along with the video. It helped me a whole lot! And it makes me want to go back to those lessons I bought and try to animate along with those too!! I hope you make more of these in the future, you are the most amazing animator I've ever seen that makes helpful videos like this. Keep up the amazing work!!

    _'It's not to move them, it's to bring them to life.'_ That sentence is deeper than someone saying animation is making a character move.
    I absolutely love the idea of bringing life to something. 'Giving it life' is a more magical sentence. 'Making it move' makes one sound like a mechanic XD

    Thank you for all that you do Aaron, I love your work and watching your livestreams and these tutorial videos give so much insight. Currently I am in a 2D animation class at Full Sail University, I am doing it online for Game Art, but I am not getting much instruction in this course compared to other classes I have had, thankfully I have alot of resources like you that allow me to get a refresher and more knowledge in animation is always fun. Even though I am not going into animation I still love everything that goes into it. Keep up the good work.

    Can you please think about creating a drawings fundamentals course for beginners. I've always wanted to learn how to draw. & honestly I would of killed to go to art school. But several years ago I was hit by a drunk driver, & I ended up disabled, and I'm not really able to leave the house. I have since been trying to learn on my own. But I haven't had much luck. Everyone says learn the fundamentals. But they never tell you what the fundamentals are, or how to learn them. Most if not all the course I have come across online. Are insanely expensive, and worst yet don't actually teach you anything. It would be an honor to learn from someone such as yourself. And then I can finally get to take some of your other courses I've been dying to sign up for. So please think about creating a drawing fundamentals course.

      And this is why I don't drink alcohol. Not because I think I'd be stupid enough to break the law, but because I don't want to endanger myself or others in case it actually happens.
      I'm sad about what happened to you, and I hope that driver got what he deserved for ruining your body and life like that 🙁

      I might be late to the party but in case this helps someone else in the future:
      I'd say the fundamentals for someone learning to draw (im going through them myself) are
      gesture
      perspective
      construction (which is related to perspective anyway)
      and rendering
      for the last one I didnt dive much into it myself, but Proko has some good videos on shading and marco bucci has some good videos on values and edges (transitions)
      as for gesture, i recommend Proko's figure drawing course (free), even if you want to draw other things that are not human figure, the principles are still about the same
      for perspective and construction there's this website called Draw a Box with a well structured course (free) , it puts you through a lot of "boring exercises" but they're good to also learn line quality control and is defenitely worth watching
      rendering i also found a website called ctrl+paint which has some good free videos on shading in digital but it can be applied to tradition as well i suppose. havent looked much into that.
      anyone who wants to correct or add stuff is more than welcome
      ALSO
      on animation. aaron's blaise fundamentals of animation is free right now so no excuse to not get it :D

    I think the reason why squash-and-stretch looks right even in less-cartoony animation is because it compensates for the lack of motion blur. This is why cell animation looks smoother than stop-motion, for example. While dubbing a CG animated series I was surprised to see when the engineer stopped the video that there wasn't any motion blur in the render. However, the squash-and-stretch that the animators used (to the hilt!) really made up for that.

    Thank you for this. I have a question about the transition from Frame 2 to Frame 3 in the pig face transition. In the previous bouncing ball animation, you showed a natural progression from round circle to horizontal oval. Yet in the pig animation, you take it from a horizontal oval to a vertical oval. So here's my question, is it proper to keep the natural progression of the movement of the ball or is it okay what you did in this sequence?

    Mr. Blaise, I’m teaching myself hand-drawn animation and I’ve covered topics like the bouncing ball, pendulum, head turn, and now I’m at a walk cycle. I’m wondering, do we squash and stretch (at least subtly) in a walk cycle assuming it’s a normal walk cycle? Right now I’m just animating the hips with walking legs but I’m not sure whether to squash the hips on the low and stretch the hips on the frame before and after the low?

    Hi Aaron, it's really interesting to get a peak behind the scenes in animation - and have the basics explained. Could you somehow explain to us how the various elements are tied together to a whole movie - and what these elements consist of. I understand it's a big mouthful, but perhaps you could give it a go anyway? Best regards, Anna from Denmark

    • @amla047
      @amla047 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      - another question: if a group of drawers are working on the same project, how do you ensure all the characters look the same no matter who drew it - as artists usually have different drawing styles?

    • @Sh1roNekoshi
      @Sh1roNekoshi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally a team (animation or comics) got what we call character sheets. It's like a full body of the character and characteristics. Like if you were to draw a cat, but it has a purple nose or a few toebeans in another color, then that's usually specified onto that sheet. Turn-sheets are also useful; like how they look from the right, left, front, and behind. It gives the characters some sort of shape as well. Like you'll be able to see if it's a bodybuilder or a bodybuilder on a piece of cardboard ^^
