Love this game - specifically because it treats the entire tower as one big labyrinth, as you noted in the description, but to each their own. The whole thing feels like a mix of old and new castlevania with a dash of old-school 2D Ys as well.
Why whenever a new AAA game is announced, I mostly feel numb, but when an indie Dev comes out with a new pixelated NES style game I almost die from happiness.
Every last one of you are all reasons of why the planet is doomed. Not everything has to be retro and in pixels. How about simply liking a game because of its own merits rather than be a bunch of elitist and xenophobic retro whores that are too damn afraid of change in your lives?

In other words, we live in the weird times when AAA is trash and indie is splendid. Of course in majority, ir's not a rule. AAA game can be good (Fallen Order, Tomb Raider), and indie can be utter garbage (Shovel Knight - i know it's controversial opinion but yes i think Shovel Knight was a horrible game, short and utterly casual).
Graphics that aren't even possible on the NES, aren't exactly what I'd call "better" Little Samson had much better pixel art, and it follows the rules! :P
The only complaint I have with these kinds of games are the instant full screen white flashes, sometimes a bunch at once. My poor eyes can't take much.
This game is amazing. One of my favorite Metroidvanias. I thought the bosses were the weakest part of it, however. It felt like there were hardly any of them and the ones that were there were piss easy because my characters were so strong when I fought them.
Damn, that Solaria fight looks really hard. I thought this game was still manageable for semi-casual like me, but that I don't think I'll be able to dodge most of those attacks
I don’t think those faces are the Gorgons themselves, just avatars that the ravaging abominations use to speak legibly to their human victims. The label of “Gorgon” might loosely pertain to some of those faces being made of stone.

@@Warlord4Hikage It definite isn't too easy. Bosses might be easy, but getting to bosses with full HP is pretty hard, and unless you do everything perfectly, you will die a lot. There is very little healing in the game, and if you die, you start from the bottom of the tower. Among the most recent games of that kind, this one is really good.
