      @@DracolegacyOfficial Dayton Audio uses a three-layer Nomex honeycomb and glass fiber sandwich cone in the Ultimax subs. Not a cosmetic-only dust cap. A small, very dense paper cone is used to transmit force from the voice coil to the dish cone. The Max-X have a paper cone with a cosmetic dish dust cap. It's also beneficial for making the whole cone assembly more rigid.

    What’s great about Dayton Audio is that they’re also known for their amazing sq. So for this sub to take THAT much power and put up those kinds of numbers? You got yourself a nice low budget daily sq setup which is saying a lot considering how much money is put into those high quality sq systems.

      I think I asked in the past if he could try out an Ultimax Sub, but it's not like he can always spend money for every comment telling him to try out "insert sub here" because he'd be broke haha.

    Love my Dayton subs. I have a 15" Titanic (old version of the Ultimax 15) in my home for audio and home theater. It's driven by a Parts Express 1000w watt plate Amp (640 w continuous) in a sealed box I built. It's been in use for 12-15 years. Great sound quality and takes all the abuse I throw at it. I also run one of their 12" sound quality subs in my truck driven by a 500w Alpine mono Amp. It's around 3 years old. Both offer great sound quality but still hit nice, tight, and hard. They aren't SPL monsters, don't look sexy, but have great sound quality, are very reliable, and represent a fantastic value. These are exactly the kind of subs you want if you want the best for your money and care about sound quality, not just one note wonder SPL subs.

    RMS is often thermal, so the sub is 'rated' to handle 600w of constant power from a thermal perspective. What you're testing is more along the lines of 'program' power, which is a quick burst of power for usually 1/2 second or so. Program power is quite a bit higher than RMS power simply because you don't have enough time to build up any heat in the motor structure. That said, Dayton does make some very good stuff for the money and I'm always impressed with their drivers!

    The pointer surround is a called a progressive surround and the other wider surround is called a linear surround. Each serves a purpose

    athats not a one piece dust cap, it just has no cap. Its solid cone

    • @chrisperez7592
      @chrisperez7592 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you see on the front of the Max-X drivers is actually one large dust cap that completely fills the cone. Underneath that dust cap is a standard cone.
      It gives them the one piece dish cone look, but they are much easier to manufacture and the gap can be tighter. Centering the coil is done with standard shims so the gap can be tighter then using a one piece dish (with that type of diaphragm keeping the coil centered in the gap is very difficult since there is no way to shim the coil during assembly, so you need a larger gap or you have deal with a larger number of rejects... Well, shims are possible, but you need a huge pole vent... TC Sounds used to do it). Plus the large dust cap adds a lot of reinforcement to the cone, it is essentially a sandwich cone because there is so much contact surface area on the outside edge.

    Thanks for the solid test and review vid but now the price on them are gonna go up 🤣
    I've been Dayton subs for a long time. Got a Ultimax 15 with 1000 watts running to it in my home theater, been rocking it that way for close to 7 years. Have 4 Dayton reference HF 10s in my truck with 2000 watts going to them and being that way for almost 4 years now. Dayton audio doesn't get enough love but kinda a good thing keeps the price low.

      I said the same thing about Dayton not getting enough credit because they are known for home audio drivers and the price will probably go up and/or sell out now.

    I think this would be considered more of a Flat Piston style cone similar to the Precision Power Piston subs, accurate and tight bass excursion control

    Free air or FS look up what happens when it reaches that frequency . The subwoofer moves the least amount and yet still produces good bass

    TLDR I wanna see you try out JCPower brand speakers and possibly the amps too.
    Don't know if you review amps but, there is this company named Jcpower I just bought their R3200.1 amp and holy cow, talking about power lol. It blew my Skar SDR 12 after 2 songs at 3/4 up on the volume knob. Checked out their site and they sell speakers too but I have no idea about the speakers, but if their amps are this good I think their speakers will be pretty good too.

      diff in sq and sql?!?!

    • @Aerodynamicz1
      @Aerodynamicz1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@basslifexxl2391 sq are usually accurate low powered drivers that give accurate bass response.Sql can usually take a little more power and can get loud without necessarily getting muddy. Spl are usually high surround big mechanical throw/excursion woofers that can move alot of air and are less about the sound. They usually have trouble being accurate because of what they are designed for .

  • @Clobercow1
    @Clobercow1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    FS is not 'frequency response'. It's the resonant frequency of the woofer.
    Klippel is a sophisticated measurement system that can be trusted.
