Great video given me loads of confidence in the kit I’m using over weekend well explained going for a week in uk loads of cats shame it’s a bit cold maybe for them it’s my first time 👍👍👍🎣
Great watch with loads of helpful info. There’s loads of videos with the catch and the bait but not the full set up, really helpful 👍 I’m gearing up to go for catfish and sturgeon, would you think 20 or 25lb mono would suffice? The pools I’ll probably fish are not huge and mostly snag free
Kind of a late response, but here in the US we like to use circle hooks and cut or live bait for cats. do you guys not do that often (I know you’re also going for carp but still)
Hey mate. I know nothing about Carp and Cats, but I'm heading into France with Tony Kirrage at the end of the week. So this video has been a revelation. Thank you.
Since this video I have learned more about cats. If you want to target them try really sharp hooks and free lining large chunks of spam, really loose bait runner , no bobbin 💪🏻 or the rig in this vid
mate i learnt loads from this as im going brookside soon (i live near brookside) wondering though whats stopping the perch and silvers from smashing the worm as i did the same and thats what happened last night on cudmore fishery
@@WestysAngling mate i went cudmore 3 days ago on avoca and tried worm , man they smashed the worm off so i went to halibut pellet and still blanked through the night and day
The peg your dad was fishing if you fish about 3 rod lengths of the far bank there’s a cat hole if you put the deeper over there it will drop of to about 6-7ft cats hold in there I’ve had a 27lb from it aim for the biggest tree to the left 🎣
I fish the same peg on the grass bank side with big halibut pellets with pva bags of mixed pellets and try and get a rod in the bay to your left last tune out had 11 cats 3 carp on 24hr session lost 3 aswell
@@WestysAngling yer 20mm single with a pva bag of mixed tiny halibut and mainline pellets cat fish was my target fish this year and I smashed that on my first session now iam on to the grass carp
Grass carp are tough ! I feel like it’s luck with them. I think a super sharp hook and popped up tigernuts would be the way forward 🎣 good luck buddy !
I have the Tracker Santuary XL cradle, would that be big enough? The standard Tracker Santuary cradle is for the uk. The xl version I have is for Europe.
I don’t see why not Lee ! Just keep it in the net for a little extra containment 👍🏻 depends how big a cat you get 😂 not many cradles on the market that can contain a 70lb cat haha !
Great idea using it for peach Kev !!! Popped up like that! I’m at cudmore this week I wonder if pike would take a worm rig, I believe they have decent pike in there.
@@WestysAngling I'm off to try it now on local canal spot I kno holds big perch .. iv got them sticky baits krill pop ups so gonna cut one down and use it on hair to pop them up 👍 me and my missus are thinking of trying cudmore when we get chance so will keep eyes out for ya vid if you make one.. pike will take big worms too 👍
@@Davies-MTB Try and get on the right hand banking, about mid way out to the island there is a structure the fish hold to 👍🏻 good luck let me know how you get on !
This is how you catch baby Cats, if you want to catch a Catfish that's worthwhile, you have to go bigger on everything and don't mess around with warms.

I agree with your choice of coffee - best I've ever had & been using it for a few years. ☕
I just came across your channel. Great stuff. Justed Subbed :)
Just subscribed love the simplicity of your fishing I only fish for the cats and caught many of them good to see a different approach to what I do
I try to keep my fishing as simple as possible ! It can definitely be over complicated 😂 tight lines buddy 💪🏻

Hi mate. Yes we also live and dead bait for cats here in the uk. Live baits are very popular
Great vid n some top tips. Cheers 👍
Thanks Ste, you are welcome 👌🏻

Great I will give that a try. Ordered the bait boat you were using, hopefully it will turn up before we go 🤞
Don't fish like this in France, this isn't how it's done

They have hardly any silvers in, I had the same issue on Cudmore ! 😂 loaded with them for the stocked pike 👌🏻

hello,thx for video!
You are welcome ! 👌🏻👍🏻
What size hooks you using please
Say hello to Dad for me I about the same age 😂
Really enjoy your programs !!
I use size 6-4 for cats ! Dad was catching his on size 6 slip D rigs 👌🏻
@@WestysAngling thank you keep up the fishing !
Going for cats on Sunday will definitely be trying this combination
Do you have much success catching them so early in the year ? I don’t normally start targeting cats until early March !
@WestysAngling first time trying this time of year but like u said normally around march time normally I catch on spam or prawns
@@tripod69er94 good luck mate let me know if you manage to get one! Can’t go wrong with the movement on worms 🪱
When fishing worms do you need to check your rig often to see if the worms are still on?
Depends how many nuisance fish are in the fishery but I’d say every few hours 👍🏻🎣

I have done well on halibuts here too, what size do you normally go for as a hookbait ? I usually use a string of 2/3 20mm for the kats 👌🏻🎣

Iam going back this Saturday for a 24hr session
Good evening. While l was watching your video on catfishing, I noticed you were using a carp cradle as the unhooking, is a cradle b8g enough?
It’s an XL predator cradle ! No, a normal carp cradle definitely wouldn’t be big enough ! 👍🏻🎣

The cats in the lake I fish go upto 40lb.
You will be fine 👌🏻👍🏻
Gonna use that rig or somat similar for the big perch I'm targeting atm

We’re fishing here Thursday night, rig wise would you have it fishing 4inch or so off the deck?
3/4 inch ! Did you manage anything ? I imagine it’s tough through winter ❄️

How did you find them reels you used thanks 🎣
Upgraded to Penn Affinity for the cats ! But they where fine for cats up to 40lb
What size hooks you using mate
You would be fine with a strong size 6, straight point for cats and don’t forget to lift into the fish hard to set the hook
Hi what rod and reel do u use?
In this video, sonik rods and wychwood exorcist reels 👌🏻🎣🎣
Is it a far walk from the car park to the pegs? I have no barrow and would like to do a night
There are pegs behind the car park Jay! But not the ones we fished 👌🏻🎣

whenever i put worms on my hook i just keep catching bullheads about 15 to 20 cm but when i put a leech on my hook i catch cats
I wish leeches where easily accessible over here ! I have heard they are great for cats 😁 thanks for commenting !
Hi what peg number was u on what u moved to please
I don’t know the numbers but it’s on the grass embankment 👌🏻

I was loving it till the rap music started.

A strong size 6 will be fine there. Streight point. Something like a Nash twister 👌🏻👍🏻
