    I love my 5500 same exact set up you used. I did notice i had to close my fan up a bit to get a more even fan pattern, but the way it sprays metallics is awesome, love blending with it

    Great birthday present for me! You posted on my birthday! Great review as always Gabe. It looks like a great gun! I like the spray pattern and like you mentioned it is nice when the gun is easy to clean. Have a good one and keep up the good work! Much love.

    I did a ford that was transparent blue like the car you are spraying and i did the same g shade as you and had to mix more paint to make sure it was fully cover some colors especially ones that are transparent can be a pain in the butt. But like you ive learned to put a black g shade under them to allow for easier coverage. Love the videos man very very helpful for a "younger painter"

    Man. Those stripes on the test area looked really gnarly and worrisome. I use a Tekna Prolite and Sata 5000 BRP and I seem to grab the Tekna more often than the Sata. I appreciate the light weight of the Pro lite and the smoothness of the trigger. It also gives me great results on smaller projects. But when spraying large panels ( I spray signs using matthews paints by ppg) I try to grab the Saya 5000. It seems to put out much more material with the same fluid needle size. But the ovel pattern likes to leave really heavy spots and some colors looks like they have tiger stripes on them. It's a pain in the ass. We spray a lot of top coats and very seldom spray clear over base. Only for mettalics.

    • @splash5974
      @splash5974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like my Prolite aswell! Easy trigger, so less fatigue, and i agree 100% that the 5500 in this vid did not look even on the fan pattern...very choppy looking!
      With your Sata "O" pattern try tightening up on your overy lap and turn in your fluid just a touch if your worried about runs/sags. With that "O" pattern it requires more like a 75-80% overlap so you dont get the striping. "I" pattern you probably get away with with 50-60% overlap.

    i just barrowed a 5500 rp to spray some finicky metallic, fought the gun the whole time, used too much paint + old school drop coat to get no mottle. was cleaning gun, looked closely at the air cap, had the HVLP cap on it!!!! informed the guy i borrowed it from, he said "maybe thats why i dont like it"

    Hey Gabriel I just got the sata 5500 x 1.3 rp I monday . Ive been using my iwata ws 400 hd 1.4 for clear but after a week of using the sata it has took the top spot!!! I still love my iwatas but the sata seems to spray alot like the ws 400 butit seems faster and it really wets the panels nicely. See if you can demo one man. I also tested with base ppg deltron solvent.I sprayed a couple silver jobs and a gold job and it performed great. I had stopped using satas after the 4000. And im not bias to one brand but I am very impressed with this gun! I know its exspensive but it comes with a 3 year warranty . Also if you put some gun oil on the trigger seal it will soften it up keep up the good work buddy ! Did you get any more medium sized paint suits in yet?

      That is the exact thing i told my paint rep. I was hesitant to using anything other than a supernova for clear but after trying the x5500 1.3 I, i told the rep it is just like the supernova, with a turbocharger stuck on it (since the only thing about the supernova i hate is the slower aplication)

    Rule at our shop is, when you think it’s covered put on another coat lol I’ve had a respray before too cause it wasn’t covered enough. Also I tend to use G7 base/sealer on blue pearls. With G6 it takes way too many coats for coverage. We use PPG DBC

    To help with color hiding and paint cost. Mix the color with out the Pearl's to get color coverage. Then mix final coats with Pearl's. This also works with old leftover paints that are almost the same color. Use that for the back sides of panel before using the correct formula color. But if you use the right value shade sealer or primers you won't have coverage problems or use extra paint.

      My ProLite and Tekna Clearcoat are my go to guns also. Only one I haven't tried yet is Iwata ls400 so I'm getting one for my next job to see what all the fuss is about. Anyone have experience with both the ls400 (or ws400) and Teknas and have any comments?

    • @satamanschmidt3428
      @satamanschmidt3428 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nathan Wilson Both Iwata's are great easily on a par with a Pro-Lite. One caution with the Iwata's. You do not use these at full fan. Adjust the fan as follows: totally shut the fan and then open the fan to between 2 1/2 and three turns out. Anything wider than that and the fan splits and becomes too wide as well. Other than this one little idiosyncrasy they are killer. And, let's not forget, they look super cool.

    I have watched a bunch of reviews on the Sata 5500x now from across the world. One common thing that each an every reveiwer had in common is if the fella or lady who was doing the review was NOT a normal sata user or normally used a any number of other guns they all hammer on the 5500x like they really are extra critical on them. This reviewer is no different. But if a person usually used a sata 5000 would actually take the time and set up the guns and actually try various nossels and air horns and actually raved 100% of the 5500x . So it has come to my conclusion to get an honest reveiw of the gun is to buy it talk to the reps and along with the gun buy the extra air horns and just play with it until I'm comfortable with it. And that is exactly what I intend on doing

    • @jaycarr590
      @jaycarr590 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PPG has 3 to chose for their grounds...one or a combination of st least 2 is recommended by the computer to correspond to the paint code ...for some colors, assuming your viscosity is correct, it assures their determined color match.
