Who else watched the whole video? As soon as you buy the 5500 the 6000 comes out 1 month later. Hey Eric! Good job on the video. Thank you. Keep up the good job.
i demoed the 5500 right before Christmas and honestly could baaaarely tell the difference. i sprayed the "i" and normally spray with a 5000 1.2RP. i liked the gun none the less and plan on buying one.
SATA rep was at the shop today to demo a few different combinations of the 5500. Amazed at the difference between my 5000's and these. Spraying Axalta Chromax Pro water and LE 8300/LE 8700 clears. I ended up ordering a HVLP 1.3i for color and RP 1.3o for clear.
LaRueOBR 5.56 I spray Chromax also and I have been spraying base with 5000 hvlp 1.4 and 1.3 Rp. Wondering if I should get an Rp or hvlp? I’m currently using a phaser 1.3 for clear.
I am a sata user in NZ and actually waiting for these guns are released to southern hemisphere. It helps me to decide what to do with my next investment. Thanks for the video.
Hey Joel! KC is awaiting his actual set as these were demo guns. We plan to do another video after a month or so of use so KC can see how it compares on an actual job to job basis.
Beautiful video KC, great way to show each gun and what they can do side by side. You showed me exactly what it was I was looking to see in how these guns act, I spray all Sata and have almost the identical set up as you as far as my guns and was very curious about this new 5500 so thank you for doing this video and cant wait to see what else you do with these as far as the "I" pattern.
hi Butch, ive had the Iwata's too. did most of my resto's with them..great guns,..but..i tell ya, try the sata 5000 and honestly ,you will love it!! paint on Brother
Nice review/comparison KC! Great work with the product shots and getting the SATA logo in there as much as possible Erick! The video resolution seemed a little off, for some reason, but I could still clearly see the difference in the paint coats. Nice work y’all! Thank you!👍🏼🤘🏼😎❄️
No worries man.👍🏼 I know that internet service can be weird. I live in a rural area and they’re always promising more than they can deliver with our service. Keep up the great work!👍🏼🤘🏼😎
I own an old Sharpe Platinum HVLP that I shot a few motorcycles with years ago... using a 1.4 tip. Thinned out the primer - PPG BCCC - Super fun to learn just a little bit of the art/science. Than ks for the good info! Nice job, Eric!
I agree on the learning aspect. Though this wasn't a super technical video, it's a good bit of incite. Thanks for dropping a line Russell! Have a good weekend.
i have been spraying for bout 30 yrs..seen a lot of paint and guns in my time. i currently spray with a 5000B RP..1.3..love it!! i too spray with HIGH pressure lol..Resto's ,collision, model cars lol..i paint anything ! i will get the 5500 because i like what i see and hear. that transfer on the first coat was indeed penny's in the bank ! think i want the "I" tip myself, i am a control freak so....enjoyed the video, PAINT ON BROTHER!!
Faster coverage because it is a bigger fluid tip. It is not an apples to apples comparison. I'm sure the 5500 is nice but not much different than your 5000 b.
I've been painting for about 25 years now .. when I started I was a sata fanatic. ... then I started using Iwata ...I just couldn't get the clear to flow as good with the sata ... loved it for color but hated it for clear ... with that being said the last model sata I used was the rp4000.... do the newer models that sata offers better than what I had before
Just a camera operator not a painter but as I was in the booth I really noticed the difference in overspray, coverage and how it laid out. Not sure what area you are in but I'd say to try and get ahold of your local SATA rep and see if you can give it a try!
It’s all in the painter my friends . I seen all kinds of ways different painters paint . The craziest one is one guy painted a whole side of the truck with the fan pattern close and he must’ve been . 4 feet away from the truck that thing came out nice . I was like dam 😮 Some people know how to paint and some people don’t that’s just the way it is Nice video Remember it’s only metal KC KNOWS THAT ONE 😎👍
Excellent video! I have been waiting and waiting for some info on the 5500 and its great to see. I would have liked to seen coverage difference between the 5500 with a 1.3 setup and the 5000 which was also on a 1.3. I have been using a 1.3 for so long now it seems weird to go back to a 1.4 but that being said the surface looked to be definitely flatter or smoother on the 5500 before ya cleared it. Very interesting video again! Thank you!
Hey Benny! Thank you for the interest. KC is awaiting his actual set as these were demo guns. We plan to do another video after a month or so of use so KC can see how it compares on an actual job to job basis.
I have a jaguar x type that’s Britain racing green.. and I have an appreciation for that color in which you just laid down.. for a second I thought it was a matte finish. Good info and video. 👍🏻
Just came accross you channel at random. Loved watching your work at gasmonkey brother. Stocked to be subbed. ALLWAYS liked KC from his time in GM to his own shop very funny guy and very tallented painter which i know from my Mechanical background is NOT easy good on you KC WELL DONE BUDDY SCOOBS UK.
Sata all the way I still bust out my old jet 90 or rp sometimes I still use a cheap sata to train guys the jet 90-2 1.3. Sprays nice but I spray at a higher pressure then they like recommend I have the 5000 and like it looks like I’ll be gettin the 5500 as well Retire couple of the other guns hahaha sata all the way
KC, once we get full UHD color gamut it will much closer in matching color, shade, and hue. It just takes better cameras, better file formats, and better video monitors. I’ve seen some 8k RED files on 4K OLED that are pretty amazing, much less the Sony Color Correction Monitors. It just takes money. Lots and lots of money.
Great video. But not fair talking about coverage when your comparing a gun with 1.4 and 1.3 tip. If the 5000 had a 1.4 it would cover more and lay wetter.
best way to test is to spray hard colour matey like silver greys check for model etc that's not even waterbase , I can see not enough paint build by looking I can see the wizar marks still left on panel, if that was silver you would need to repaint again cause you would see the scratches from rubbing sender. having said that it is a great tool.
Spray pattern on the wall... the 5000 has a heavier spray in the center of the pattern. The 5500 does put more on and on evenly. Wished I could one. Guess I need to start saving my pennies.
Ive tested the dv1 an idk if you have but you might want to lol transfer is unreal ive used the pro lite for many year but the new dv1 is by far unstoppable
I use to be a painter. I used a 3000 RP back then. I'm a mold maker now but I still do some painting and have a 3000 hvlp 1.3 which I like and I just bought a nice condition used 1.3 4000 RP which so far I love. I just don't paint for a living often anymore and can't justify the nearly thousand dollar price tag for the new guns. I'm sure they're great but $450 for a used 4000 is about as high as I'm willing to go. I also have my Minijet 4 1.2 and mini 3000 hvlp 1.0 guns. Those are great for small jobs.
using my 5500 like I used my 4000 puts way more paint on a panel. My 5500 looks more like a lacquer texture from the 60's. Which is what I am after in restoring 60's Corvettes.
Sata makes a great gun, I still have my Jet 90. Most of my peers in the trade are using Devilbiss and Iwata, I moved to Teknas really just based on value. Sata is kind of pricing themselves out of the market.
David Parker True that, however Devilbiss seems to do that in the first year or two of release then drop to the 500 range, and you still have a more affordable option from them with Tekna. I think Sata is missing the boat by not having something a little more entry level in the 500 range that’s versatile base/clear/sealer type gun. It’s not like the 90s when Sata was way ahead on HVLP, lots of good guns now.
@@David_Creyke I love my Teknas, Iwatas , Sagolas and my Satas. Sata does have the b1500 guns that are more of a budget line. Sata is known for the premium guns and it would hurt their market to compete with DeVilbiss and Iwata. As long as they continue to maintain the quality and innovation, the price is justified. I'll agree that the guns are pretty close in performance nowadays. A painter can get good results out of most guns now, even the Harbor Freight guns. I still love the quality of the SATAs and the availability of repair parts. I get my guns at much lower prices from a place in the UK. Their service is outstanding and the shipping is faster than if I bought it here in the states. The SATAs get into that $500-600 range from them. The Pro Lite costs $330 form them.
David Parker Yeah don’t get me wrong, Sata is worth the price, great quality will last indefinitely if you take good care of it. I guess I’ve just moved away from them since my last RP4000 which I ended up selling when I got out of the trade several years back. I started using Devilbiss when I came back to painting. I might still get a Sata again, good deals come up a lot.
If you are experienced with SATA guns already, choose the "o" pattern. If you want something like the Iwata Supernova, choose the "i" pattern. Either way, it will be a good gun.
Which one you would recommend for wood finishing and nozzle size? For Water based 2k industrial coating. Milesi and Renner. Also for fine paint of Europe. Thank you
good advice and nice colour but what was the crap on the second panel half way up the front section ,about the size of a pea ,its fine, nothing that a bit of 400 wont clean up ,lol
I'm not going to say this is a biassed review. But I will say you give the impression of a biassed review when you are wearing a Sata suit and a giant Sata poster in the background.
How is it a biased review when ALL of the guns tested are SATA? It's a comparison of SATA guns! What are they biased against? SATA? Man, the comments are ret@rded on this one. I think you need to change your respirator cartridges, you have been huffing paint too long.
@@davidparker9676 I'm not saying it is a biased review. What I'm saying is it is hard to trust what he says about the guns when he is an obvious fanboy. Most fanboys will not give honest reviews and will only point out the positives, and never point out the negatives. That is how you can have a biased review when you are reviewing all the same brand.
Hi the first one was best all round the second one took more to cover and the lacker was more dusty than the first one great videos as always love the content
I am from Iraq, of course, one of your most loyal followers, I have seen my comment, and his name is Sabbagh, as well as Sham, cars and bicycles. I know how much this price is for a pistol.
nice video, and nice space suit, where can you get one, as most videos show only a basic mask and gloves, not a whole suit ( like a sandblaster or welder would wear); and nice booth too, very professional looking.
My sata 2000 , 3000, 4000 and 5000 sprays perfect..I don't think there is much of a transfer efficiency difference with either of them. Sata likes to sell guns..and I guess I like to buy them. Want to save money use the right color sealer first. Reduce your basecoat by scale on not by stick, use the correct temperature reducer, set the air pressure at the regulator at the wall and fine tune it at the gun.
I have an sata 5000 rp 1.3 and all the time with it from the base to the colorless .. the base in the hvlp can not set it to stay is always rough and rp stays fine
Good video, I love my 5000, I just can’t imagine I am good enough to see a difference. However, I love my Iwata for clear. Low/med solid at 14psi and high solids 19, love it
That is just one of many things that make the comparisons absolutely worthless. Did you notice he did not paint with the "i" guns? Stupid video aimed for stupid people. The video was a waste of 20 minutes. The 5000 & 5500 "o" are basically the same gun, with a different color scheme. The "i" gun is basically like an Iwata ws400 Supernova.
@@mescalp He could have even said it took ______ amount of base/clear to cover each fender. Different fenders, different sized guns, different pressures.... this comparison is a joke.
SATA BUILDS A GOOD PRODUCT BUT THE PRICES ARE TO HIGH WHEN A DEVILBISS PLUS WILL DO THE JOB JUST AS WELL IN MOST CASES THEIR JUST AS GOOD ON CLEAR COAT MY THOUGHT
Always wonder why people go with adam instead of just getting the digital. What is your reasoning? Btw thanks for the upload. I'm looking at picking up a couple 5500's
Thanks for checking it out. My personal reasoning is that I can buy a dock for every gun and turn all of them into a digital gun for less. I like using it because I can keep an eye on the numbers while I spray and make sure everything is flowing how I want.
Another great vid. Gonna have to go a little faster with the RPs. Too slow and you'll get that "fat" peel. Or venture into the 30's. Glad you're making it on your own.
Nice video man I have a sata 3000 and 4000 but just I want to do a little jobs but I don't know what kind the air compressor need I have a 5hp 25 galloon but doesn't work I need your help please
any video without ShopDad is unacceptable. also is that Lucky Costa in the background at the start of this video. if so don,t let mtod take you guys over.
More ShopDad coming next week. Between time off and working on this video, we haven't been able to kick the new year off with footage but we have new goals. KC wants more videos per week even if they are shorter... so, hopefully we will have more content spread through out the week!
Keep your secrets and your gun too, ole buddy. I'll stay with my 4000 rp . lol . PS If you see Richard tell him I decline, I have to much going on. lol
I've got to say from my POV, usually i'm taking cover from the overspray from the 5000 but the 5500 was super noticeable to me being able to get close. Impressive indeed!
@@Photobombin I could see that in the filming you could not get as close on the 5000,both are very nice though, the 5500 seems like a time saver if can do 2 coats for base coverage vs 3 ,a lot of these new poly colors are very transparent ,for example what that 5500 did in 2 coats for coverage takes 5-6 coats with my older sata .Like to see more of these vids ,they are very cool ,i understand they eat up a lot of the shops time though .
I just ordered a 5500 off one of the tool trucks with a 1.4 tip ,can you ask KC if that tip will do the clear or should i order a 1.2 tip for the clear ?
@@Photobombin Thanks Erick ,tell KC thanks too ,i will order a 1.2 tip also ,i have been having to run 2 parts reducer in my clear instead of 1 to keep the paint from dripping off the cars ,lol my tip must be too big on my old gun ,i think its a 1.3 ,this should keep the most of cloud i get out of the booth i hope being more efficient now .
Sata 5500 "I" and "O" air cap are tested. "I" cap is good, almost same, than "old" Sata 5000 gun. 5500 "O" cap is bad. Gunman did test 5500 capand Devilbiss DV1 cap. Anyone can see, 5500 "O" pattern is not even. DV1 cap is even. Sata designers obviously think that bigger spray fan is automatically better..! 😄 Sata is always invest in wide spray fan. You did mention, there is DV 1 $70 where???!! ☺
Sata is more by about 70 buck....my dv1 should be in this week 💪......and yes sata has there work cut out if they are going to come close to the dv1 lol think i paid like $600 on a promo
My hands are tied when it comes to pending videos. All I can do is make them and nothing really got made over the holidays. Our first week back we had some major change ups in the shop and I was stuck on parts runs and polishing wheels. We shall see what turns up this week. The goal is to get more content out this year but the challenge to me personally is getting content out that you guys will find entertaining. It can be tough when your not doing builds on a TV/TH-cam time schedule.

Good luck finding laquer to spray.
Do you spray your base with HVLP and clear with rp or base and clear with rp ?
I am from Iraq, of course, one of your most loyal followers, I have seen my comment, and his name is Sabbagh, as well as Sham, cars and bicycles. I know how much this price is for a pistol.
nice video, and nice space suit, where can you get one, as most videos show only a basic mask and gloves, not a whole suit ( like a sandblaster or welder would wear); and nice booth too, very professional looking.
Looks like an awesome gun!
Who changes the filters in that booth? 😳
Good video, I love my 5000, I just can’t imagine I am good enough to see a difference. However, I love my Iwata for clear. Low/med solid at 14psi and high solids 19, love it
Which Iwata ?
5500 with 1.4 vs 5000 with 1.3. And the first fender is covered quicker Duh
maybe he should be more scientific and weigh the paint before and after
That is just one of many things that make the comparisons absolutely worthless.
My secret is.. max pressure on the clear coat. Works great for me
SATA BUILDS A GOOD PRODUCT BUT THE PRICES ARE TO HIGH WHEN A DEVILBISS PLUS WILL DO THE JOB JUST AS WELL IN MOST CASES THEIR JUST AS GOOD ON CLEAR COAT MY THOUGHT
I just seen that video !
When u say original are u referring to the HVLP sata jet 5000?
I have the x5500 1.2 i and it looks like he has an “i” nozzle not an “o”
What color are you using? it looks good
Let me quess you sprayed the clear on the other car at 40 psi.
Ding ding ! 💯👍 30-50 psi
If that's true sounds like every SATA I've used takes more pressure to get it to spray good. I'll stick with Iawata.
He's trying to hide shit he used 35 to 49 psi
Lol sometimes more pressure is more fun even though might be wrong
What does demo star mean? Noticed it printed on your guns.
Cool Tools Boss Man
Hey kc were did you get the sata case at? Like to get one for my 2 satas x 5500
Beautiful both I wish
Hello.. Is it in the Middle East and how much it costs?
Another great vid.
Gonna have to go a little faster with the RPs. Too slow and you'll get that "fat" peel. Or venture into the 30's.
Glad you're making it on your own.
That hvlp 5500 I nozzle don't look like it's spraying right with that fan pattern
I read KC your first comment and he laughed and said James knows what's up on the magic number! 😉
@@Photobombin lmao I didn't want to double post :p cheers guys happy new year!
@@solventbased3153 Happy New Year!!
we get it, KC can paint better than us
Thanks for showing us the magic...
Is that a Fox Body Mustang and a Nissan Hardbody fender?
What clear coat you using if you don't mind telling me
You do not need any secret when you use iwata ws 400 1.4 hd clear gun, best gun 😉👌
Nice video man I have a sata 3000 and 4000 but just I want to do a little jobs but I don't know what kind the air compressor need I have a 5hp 25 galloon but doesn't work I need your help please
Get iwata w400 1.4 and keep real money in ur pocket, sata is like iphones..or galaxies..
Nice equipment. I'm a crappy painter & body man that's why I just mess with my own stuff Haha. Hey Eric.
I agree SATA stuff is the high end designer brand of paint guns but the product is engineered well. But regardless, keep doing your thing Frank!
i like dirty girl equipment
Those doo look nice! Is that a nissan hardbody fender ? 🧐
any video without ShopDad is unacceptable. also is that Lucky Costa in the background at the start of this video. if so don,t let mtod take you guys over.
More ShopDad coming next week. Between time off and working on this video, we haven't been able to kick the new year off with footage but we have new goals. KC wants more videos per week even if they are shorter... so, hopefully we will have more content spread through out the week!
Where do y'all get those small truck shapes that you use for test shots ?
startechinternational.net they are called speed shapes but they have different types of samples.
I'm Ricky Bobby, if you don't chew Big Red...X~D
What's the secret air pressure kc?
30+
Have you sprayed clear with sata 1.4o rp 5500x?
where did you get the nice spray suit
But he hates green lmao always busting Richard ass for choosing green on every car 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Love it though KC 👍🏻👍🏻
😂😂😂
weird dude bustin ass
Keep your secrets and your gun too, ole buddy. I'll stay with my 4000 rp . lol .
PS If you see Richard tell him I decline, I have to much going on. lol
What colour code is that?
Hey Eric....... More videos !!!
More to come!
Еще бы понять,про что так много рассказывает)
Полюбом
Короче говоря... SATA 5500 лучше краску распылает..
I think i need to update my gun ,still running a 20 year old green nr95 sata ,that 5500 looks promising .hardly any overspray in the air .
@@trx250r180 KC said "I use a 1.2 for clear. The 1.4 puts a lot of clear on quick!"
I like Devilbiss more. This is so expensive gun, and only brand costs.. DEVILBISS RULES..! 😄
really isnt bad on price there actually not far off from the new dv1 only about $70
Sata 5500 "I" and "O" air cap are tested.
Did you heat the clear?
What tip size on 5500 hvlp for HS 2:1 clear
👍🏾👊🏾💪🏾😎🍻 great video
Thanks Juan!
I want this spraygun Satajet
how much CFM consumption?
looked like a lotta overspray from the old gun too compared to the 5500
What pressured should u run for clear
sprays amazing. now I'll cut the cheese down with 600 grit. I prepped it with 800 and de-cheese with 600!
that's my secret. don't tell anyone.
Omg really boring! We waited this long and this is all you got Eric.
@@Photobombin Not attacking you Eric, we just loved the work being done in the shop, kind of looks like the slow death of a great shop.
sata it is very good
