I've always felt they need to relax the offside rule so that as long as an opponent's leg is lined up with a defenders leg then it's onside. This allows the forward to lean/stretch toward the goal as the pass is initiated. Essentially this is how it works in ice hockey. As long as a players skate is on the ice and touching the line, the other leg/body/stick can actually be in the offensive zone as the puck enters and this will still be considered onside.

The biggest confusion today is that the linesman do not raise the flag right away instead they wait until play its over (sometimes with a goal lol) to raise the flag. That means they have to bring the ball back to the position where the offside occurred which sometimes its near the midfield. Since an attacking player has become part of the play why not raise the flag right away? Bizarre....

It won't be offside! U need to stay on side only till the ball is kicked! Once it's kicked it can be in air or on land it won't matter if u go in offiside position to receive the ball!
I really like the idea of the new rule eg any scoring body part must be in line with the 2nd last defender. So one leg and head say could be offside while the other foot is onside, then that will be onside. Great idea.

Or divide the field into 3 equal parts with 2 new lines (but keep the middle line too), and passing from that one-third closest to enemy keeper part to someone as well in that part can't be offside. Game is often so boring with 0-0 half of the time, just look at current world cup, something must definitely change. I would as well change the team size to 9 and make the field 20% smaller, these big distances make the game slower, having to run and get tired faster, and with less action overall. Also less players means less defenders, and a bit easier to shoot and attack.

This would change the defensive stance that many of the teams are sticking with for the sole purpose of preserving that free 1 point the match starts with.

What it ought to be is for there to be visible space between the two players in question. I don't agree with the 'toenail offside' forensic analysis VAR brings & the subsequent number of goals being disallowed as well as the spontaneous celebrations its depriving us of. Man, they made an already bad rule even worse with the last dumb change (not even touching the ball). They should remove offside rule from the enemy side entirely, so if you're passing from the enemy side (for example near middle) to the enemy side (for example 30 meters ahead), there is no offside possible. Football is just such a boring and often uneventful 0-0 game, that something must change soon, the sport could be much more fun and more popular if offside rule was done better.

Basically freeze the time when the ball stops touching the passer. Thats when you decide if it's offside or not. Everything else doesn't matter.
