Be upstanding for Australia’s unofficial national anthem …. Thank you Don, you’re a legend!
Its a bloody classic. I was born in 1967, I never saw Chisel live and have never served. But this song is easily my number 1 of all songs ever, it sends chills up my spine every single time I hear it. I relate to the themes of restlessness, inability to settle and estrangement from society, attraction to Asia (hit a few honk-tonk mattresses in my time), work in remote areas of Australia (I ve been in and out of mining camps since the mid-80s). Its got it all.
I feel it is a very personal song that defines my life to me, and I am not a veteran. So that's a great song.
Thank you Don Walker.
A lyric and magnetic melody that maybe made more Australians who were too young for Vietnam to think about what our soldiers went through .. a social snapshot that lasts. I play this for Yanks, serving at that time, and they cry like babies. These videos about Mr Walker and his fascinating songs are wonderful.
Such a moving song by an incredible song-writer.
" I'm going nowhere and I'm in a hurry" classic
Was never going to be anything for anyone except me and my band mates?
Understatement of all time.
Thank you Mr Walker.
Fascinating insight into one of Australia's finest songwriters/musicians 🤘🤘🤘
That social divide Don talks about is greater than ever. It’s awesome he didn’t sell-out his own people as most in the same position would these days.
Don, these snappy interviews are a genius little legacy of Australiana for us all. Bravo, book on order.
I can't believe this set of videos exist. Fucking amazing - thank you Don

Interesting. Yes, that city/country divide still exists to this day, to a large extent.
Fucking awesome Don. Hope you got that ZB to a respectable speed
"I left my heart to the sappers 'round Long Tan". Aussie enough for you?
Milkbar in Kings Cross before Mc death replaced it .. wonder if it had Booth Seating on the Harbour Side and Milk bar on the City Side.. didn't get to visit the Cross until the Eightys.. so not sure if it's in my memory bank or not..
breakfast at sweethearts
its AHISTORICAL, unforgivable, shouldn't be allowed, no aussies ever in khe Sanh. Outrage. Fun with words and stories. Ahistorical.
