I've lived in this area my entire life, and visited all these areas... but this really reminds me of how amazing this area is, and I need to get out and enjoy it more often.
A lot of people stay west of the mountains when they visit the state, but Eastern Washington has some amazing hidden gems too, like Grand Coulee Dam and Palouse Falls. You’re always welcome back! 😉
Oh my goodness, as a Washingtonian I've seen a lot of videos created by folks who do not adequate job of conveying the beauty of our state. But this video hits it out of the park and it also provides a great itinerary for folks who may be visiting Washington State for the first time. Bonus points for pronouncing Sequim correctly!
WOW! Gorgeous video! And you've convinced me. I'm a Nebraskan who loves the southeast coast (FL, GA, AL, MI, etc) and I've never been out west. I saw one picture of North Cascades that took my breath away, then did a search for visiting northern WA. Yours was the first video to pop up, and I'm BLOWN AWAY. Next trip will definitely involve North Cascades and Leavenworth (I want that pretzel!!). Thank you :)
My Great Granpa was on the first expedition that crossed the Olympic mountains in the winter of 1889/1890 called the Press Expedition and they went through Hurricane Ridge. The book about it is probably in the gift shop up there. his name was John Sims.
What a show to see whales, orcas, sea lions that close. I remember seeing all of them like 12 years ago when I went to San Juan Island. It was awesome. I hope to come back in 2024 trip.
Thank you for actually crossing the mountains into Central Washington...most never do. If you are up this way again, you missed half of the state: the Columbia River, The Snake River, the Palouse, Grand Coulee Dam, Palouse Falls, Spokane...so much to see in Eastern Washington. And there is Southern Washington and Southwest Washington.
It's kind of cringe when people leave comments saying "you missed out on this and that" No. Nobody missed anything. They planned what they planned and that's it. Stop telling people what they missed out on
Love Washington! I was there for 2 months last year and visited all national parks. My favorite for me was Olympic, north cascades and then Rainer. This video makes me want to go back.
Go back! You missed many things! Definitely so the Hall of Mosses - it’s way more awesome than the drive in. Also, Ruby beach…. There are no words that can describe its beauty… mystic, awesome, breathtaking, maybe three that don’t come close. Just believe me. Go back.
Love that you enjoyed our home state! Funny thing is that I think we were in Colorado while you were here. Your videos were very helpful to us on our trip. Many happy travels!
Wow, y'all have great food and travel tastes! Wish we were friends 🤞. My husband and myself are going to Washington state for the first time this year, and definitely doing Olympia and mount rainier. We are millennials and living the normal 9-5, and we are disciplined to go somewhere new & amazing each year using our vacation time. After we we did Acadia last year, I learned it's not fun rushing out of places to get to the next. I'm torn now I'm starting to think we will miss out if we don't go to north cascades after hearing you out!! Our trip will be about 6 days as well
Thank you so much for sharing these unique experiences of yours. I had a chance to live in Washington State for a while and I have to admit, it is one of the most remarkable places on earth. It really goes with the vibe of nature, people are more grounded and down to earth. A lot of good coffee that warms you up in the cold months, ohh I miss Washington so much. Thank you for bringing all these great memories back to me. Truly what I needed after weeks of rising stress and anxiety, this brought me back to myself. Thank you so much. Sending you much love and wishing you the best on your next adventure.
Ahh! So glad you enjoyed this! I love seeing things that bring back good memories...glad my vlog did that for you. Washington is a special place. Thanks so much for watching!
A nice little video, I also have lived in WA all of my life. Seattle for 34-35 years, then Auburn and Kent WA. I've seen most but not all of these places, but the peninsula was a big part of my vacationing childhood. Then we did Eastern WA with Lake Chelan through Leavenworth. This as nice nostalgic trip through my past and i am 63 Years old. I am considering moving to Port Angeles or even Sequim. I am very tired of the near big cities life and am looking to live in a smaller town which Seattle used to be when I was young. It's awful now and I hate driving anywhere near Seattle and I keep getting priced out of the areas I move to. I hope Port Angeles is far enough away, but I doubt it. But at least it's still such a beautiful state.
Hello from Texas!!! Thank you for this post as well as the Vancouver post. We used your itinerary as a base for ours and it worked out quite well! Just wanted to let you know how much your posts are appreciated,
This video has been so informative and very useful in planning our family northwest trip this summer. Could you please tell me which hotels you stayed in Port Angeles and Olympia? Thanks.
A very useful, video, thanks. You say that you like to stay in the centre of town, so you can walk around etc. But what do you do with your car? Do these inner-city hotels have car parking, and does that cost a lot extra? Cheers.
@JeanieMarie Great video, thank you! And if I may ask - in what month did you go? The weather look amazing and we are planning on visiting Washington state in June (from the Netherlands), so I was curious ^-^ TY!
I just came across your channel and this was the first video I watched and I loved it!! Several years ago I spent a week driving the Oregon coast and I fell in love with the west coast. With being unfamiliar with Washington and the towns, did you fly in from somewhere, or did your trip start all by car? Can you add links to the hotels you stayed at along your trip?
Hey... You're a very sympathic couple!! Where do you yourself come from? I'VE been in Washington twice... This year the 3rd time... We'll perform with our band in Leavenworth! Greets from Austria/Europe
I'm inlove. We going to the Olympic Park end of May. But would love to see as many parks. Besides Port Angeles...where is a good place to stay that's not far from the parks. Also is it safe to hike these trails only 2 people or are there tour guides?
Trying to plan this. on day 2, I see your last stop was the Hoh rain forest and you stayed in Olympia. Looking at google maps, drive back to the hotel in Olympia is 3 hours. Am i missing sometjing lol
We're heading tjere around the same time this year! I've been trying to figure out how to get down to Diablo lake - i know you said you drove over the dam but can you provide any other tips for getting there? Thanks so much!

hello again to do more or less your itinerary can we fly to seatlle and then drive between these national parks or we need to take ferries? what do you recommend thank you )
@@JeanieMarie The fastest way to get from Seattle to Port Townsend is via ferry (as opposed to going all the way around the sound end of Puget Sound). If you can, include a ferry ride, it's worth it, esp if you arrive in Seattle at sunset. And don't forget Eastern WA! Dessert, wine country, Missoula Flood scab lands, Grand Coulee Dam, etc.
@@EngageYourFrontalLobe im from yakima and i dont blame people for visiting the west coast, the east side is vast and plane unless you know here to good spots are, very few people visit the east side of rainier compared to the west side in the early seasons (probably because everything is coved in 5ft of snow) and it feels nice to be able to see wildlife that hasn't been scared off yet.
The Visitor's Centers are typically closed in December but you can still visit, although you might want to bring snowshoes instead of hiking shoes! Also North Cascades Highway closes in the winter so you can't drive through from Mazama to North Cascades National Park. That said, I'd recommend summer or fall, otherwise you're fighting the weather - rain or snow depending on your elevation - and the shorter days are limiting.
