Great amp demo.... usually have to dip the bass down when diming Now imagine thru a nice basket weave That gain ain't greedy lol it wants to give to all the speakers When you plugged in that Warmoth it was killing it The Stormy Mondays Nice
Ooh, thats really rude and fuzzy! Kind of Hendrix meets Neil Young. I tried turning mine up past 5 but it just got really loud and didn't break up so I got scared and turned it down again 🤪
Cool vid - I got the head version years ago, in part, because of a video you did where the tone you got from the SS22 and some $12k Les Paul was akin to this tone. Well done.
The effects loop adds a few db to compensate for signal loss with pedals. Pit a patch cord in their and you can give it a little boost on all channels, using the effects switch on the provided pedal
When you "dime" this amp, it flops out. It begins to flap terribly with the standard speaker and you basically lose the bottom end. If, however, you install a better speaker, or plug into a 2x12 cabinet with the correct ohms, the flabby bottom end disappears. This is one outstanding amp to be honest. I have performed through a literal pile of different amps, and if being honest I would stack the SS 22 right up there in the top ten, possibly the top 7. Really articulate amp when appropriately setup.
So I guess you could say I have one of the first retro looking amps It's one of those old custom design blonde tolex Tonemaster Fender came out with the Vibro King by the same guy Bruce Zinky
@@valle4483 I can honestly say I am. You might consider a JHS Little Black Box or similar attenuator because when the clean channel volume gets up over 3 some real nice stuff happens but it does get a bit loud. Lots of good tones and I’ve had zero problems. Properly scratches that Fender itch when it comes around :)
@@oldguyjammin9732 Damn that's good to hear! Only thing holding me back is the hiss many people claim the amp has, and also that the clean channel might break up quicker than I would need it too. Do you think this amp would work well with my Boss ds-1 in a live situation? Thanks again!
@@valle4483 - I don’t see why it wouldn’t work well with your DS-1. I don’t have any hiss from my amp. The clean does start to break up past 3 on the dial but it’s the warmest overdriven tone you’ve ever heard, er... I’ve ever heard.
5 week old - bought head sd 22, very nice tones👍, too much issues😡 hiss at the low volume clean, fluctuating volume at drive channel, popp sounds by switching, rumble at higher volume. Will bring it to HOT amps - czech boutique amps producer to controll and if possible to repaire. Dear Fender, your production and quality output is total disaster! Made in USA, not cheap - nightmare for users, OMG🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️you should pay me one half of price back. I was a big Fender fan, two amps befor ss22 still have, now? joho0 I figured it out with this tip, thanks! Just basically a hard pulloff with the left hand, create a harmonic with the right hand thumb and whammy away!!! What fun. Thanks.
Your playing is good; the amp's high gain tone, not so much, IMO. But Fender thought this would be a good model for the Champion 20, 40, and 100 so who am I? 😂
Killer playing. I knew this amp could do the clean and bluesy dirty tones amazingly. But I didn’t realize this amp could do sweet metal tones as well. You didn’t use any pedals here?
Madness. Sorry I'm not asking about the amp but: how do you practice doing all these crazy things standing up ? Are there things you can't play standing up ?
To get good at playing on your feet you must do exactly that. There's really no other way around it. If you can't play something standing up, you've just got to practice more on your feet. Unless I'm playing acoustic I prefer to stand honestly. Pick a song get of the couch and dance around a bit. Let the music move you, that's what it was made for in the first place.
These amps sound best at 2 to 3, anything more gets progressively unpleasant. However, the burn side gain 1 and gain 2 are great at 8 to 9, but master volumes need to be at 2 to 3.
Awesome, awesome demo.
Saucy, tasty licks.
Criminally underrated amp.

Dimed my Peavey Classic 30 the other day like this. Leads really do take on a new character once the power tubes are running full tilt.

Mike McCourt thanks Mike! That’s cool that you got one too. Such a great amp. Hope you’re well. Cheers!
Versatile amp. Same as mine. Great vid.
Nice.....I have it's grand dad the 90's Tonemaster
I love seeing amps cranked up!!
Sounds a little trashy,
I like it!
Brilliant playing! You’ve got some killer licks dude. Was looking at the 60 watt head version.
Your a hell of a player dude. I would like to have hear'd with the bass Turner down to tighten it up tho

What's your top 3?
Nice speed work. Awesome, to be precise.
Loud enough to knock down a dinosaur 🦖
I can’t believe I forgot this amp existed. I’m gonna buy a head and cabinet in blonde for sure if this pandemic ever dies down.
Infinite sustain!!!
Kelvin Búrigo hahaha!
I love how at 3:48 to 4:00 that one note causes the camera to shake and it looks like the air is literally vibrating.

Cool! Not a lot of videos out for this amp. Mine is coming tomorrow so this was super timely :) ear plugs!?!?
Thinking about buying this amp, are you happy with yours? Thanks :)

Does that Super Sonic have the original Lightning Bolt Speaker by Eminence?
Yes it has

Surprised at how clean the Fat mode stayed ... nice.
Neverlast2010 yeah! It’s cleaner when it’s not pinned also
Now look what you've done .... you've gone and killed all the dinosaurs......just like an asteroid did .....nice demo.....
Bien Sam, saludos desde el Perú
I'd like to know how you did the whammy thing at around 6:40... and all of it sounded great to me!
He teaches it in his video Guitar tricks vol 1. Check this one out.
It's fairly simple. Drop the whammy, and then fret a harmonic as you let the whammy back up.
There’s some cool videos of dimebag teaching the technique too! 😀

Looks like to me you could do what Eddie Van Halen did and get these roaring for an early Van Halen tone.
How do you like this compared to the other amps in the back?
Just way tweedier than I would have hoped I guess.
Hi, Sam! I'm good, how are you?
I owned 22. But I cant volume up 0.5
You can play guitar !! oh yeah and the amp is pretty good too

What speaker is in the amp?
i put a 5751 in v1 for more headroom & a 12ay7 in v4 to kill hiss, will make the amp dead silent at idle
I don’t think I own an amp that doesn’t have a trusty 5751 in the V1, it’s such a subtle change but so much better
That Warmoth build sounds absolutely fantastic. I was expecting as such since I have a Warmoth build that sounds amazing too! Killer!

Great video. Is that the stock Fender speaker?
Sounds good man.
Sounds like it has a blown speaker.
probably some mic clipping. i bet if he backed off the mic about a foot it would have sounded better.
