jeez, I love my Supersonic. to my ears the most versatile series Fender has released to date. I own the 60 watts version and it kills, both clean and distorted. I am amazed how similar the tone of it's smaller brother is, if I hadn't bought the big one yet I'd probably want to get my hands on this little bastard!
This is a realy cool amp. Can play almost any of the classic Fender amp rock/blues/country/twang/rockabilly tones that Fender is known for. If I hadnt just bought an AC15C1 a month ago, I probably would have gone with the SS22.
I had one of these amps for a while, a blonde Supersonic 22 (bought second hand). It had a sublime clean channel - up there with a Deluxe Reverb in a band setting. The drive channel is the best that Fender offer: super smooth and with a very controllable EQ. It doesn't quite do on-the-edge of clean, unless of course you crank the clean channel and use the 'fat' setting. The reverb is dark and warm and swampy. Overall, I loved the amp, but couldn't get used to the hiss. The noise floor on these things is terrible. Also, the valves rattled like crazy. I put rubber retainers on the valves to dampen the rattling and had a (really amazing) tech look at the amp. He said the hiss was due to the circuit design, so couldn't really be avoided. So I sold it and have since used my brother's Hot Rod Deluxe, which I've had modded to reduce the noise floor and to 'blackface' the tone a bit. To be honest, the Supersonic 22 is the one amp that I've regretted selling and wish I still had. Fender need to address the noise issue (perhaps they have by now) because they've got a classic amp here.
i currently own one and the only thing i disagree with is the "over the edge" tone. just switch it to the burn channel, turn the volume up and keep the gain knobs really low. it works for me.
@Ajt8000 I just bought this amp. I think it sounds awesome. I have a Marshall JVM 410, this thing has a better clean channel, fat, sweet, warm...I love it man.
Actually, there is a switch in back of the 100 that lets you take out 3 of the power tubes and run it at 25 watts! The 100 has some cool features that the 22 and 60 don't have but, it is a fair amount more expensive as well. The only issue I have with the 22 is the speaker. You can go to WGS and get a great speaker to replace it with though for 80 $ or less. I have the 60 and it still sounds great at low volume. I run it through a Weber attenuator a lot of the time though and, it sounds
lol the Monkey Lord playing a part of an Chili Peppers song (Scar Tissue for the ones who don't know it :P), that makes you even more win then you already are dude, even though there were some minor mistakes, but who am I to judge the Monkey Lord?! I guess he made the mistakes on purpose just because we are not worth the whole awesomeness of his perfect playing. :> And I really appreciate you doing these videos, keep 'em coming dude.
@monopoly569 No it def would not be! 22 tube watts is only 2 or 3 Dbs lower than 50 watts. And 50 watts is only 3 Db s below 100 watts. It is more complicated than the wattage but also the speaker handling, and encloser design, to give you perceived volume. Use an Iso cab or find an amp in the 1/4 to 5 watt range! Ive played a 3.5 watt vintage Tube amp into a 150watt 212 cabinet and it blew my face off at full volume!
@bingefeller but be carefull there are letal voltage in there even if is not connected ,so be shure you know what you are doing or take it to a profesional.
@wickedwizardofspeed are you sure because I was trying to decide on this or the 22. I practice at home so I wanted something that wasn't too loud because I don't want to disturb anyone when I practice. Thanks.
Fuck me this was 10 years ago? Jesus christ I remember kicking back playing skate 2 watching these vids... Time is flying by. 10 bloody years... Whatever happened to the Monkeyfest we were planning that was cancelled in 2012 (Irrc!)
Hey Rambo, the 1980's called. He said to tell you he's still trying to get a record deal for his unknown hair band, and needs his fake ammo belt decoration back for a gig in his best friend's basement. lol
Is this guy insane? (the dude from Fender, that is. Although I'm surprised chappers would ask the question) Is this the highest gain amp in the Fender line up? Uhhhhh, NO! You want gain you go to a 5150, and it was out in 2010, actually it was out in 2007 WTF?
I was impressed to hear a hard rock tone from the tele

SS 22 is a Superb amplifier, I'm really glad I pulled the trigger on this baby
The drivechannel on this amp sounds just amaizng

It's perfect for gigs & bedroom playing. The 60 & 100 would be overkill for home. The 22 sounds awesome cranked up.

i meant on the edge, not over.
I didnt think FAT affected the drive channel, mine doesnt seem to. But yeah articulation on heavy drive is not its forte.
@@evankeal no I meant that you can get low gain drive if you crank the clean channel with the fat switch on.
Oh, I LOVE it -- the COMMERCIAL loads/plays just fine, but the vid won't load...I LOVE it; I LOVE it...
@RobChappers Stick's recording knowledge and setup is amazing!
AWESOME when the power tubes are workin hard!
@bingefeller Yes, I have it and you need to take the whole chasis out to find the blue potentiometer to adjust the bias.
Nice one Rob, sounds magic. loads of audible tone now
@maxpayne123 Thanks mate, this is the standard from now on - We got Stick down to teach the sound guy a few tricks and that sorted it all out ;-)
That was one baddass guitar strap, the one with the bullets!
Wow, this amp sounds amazing.

These SS's with 6L6's and the Vibrolux and Bassman switch
are/WE'RE great. PS without the noise factor even better.

@wickedwizardofspeed are you sure because I was trying to decide on this or the 22. I practice at home so I wanted something that wasn't too loud because I don't want to disturb anyone when I practice. Thanks.
yup!
Dear Rob Chappers,
Do you know if you'd need to rebias when changing the valves on this amp?
Thanks,
Binge
A Fender rep. told me that none of the vintage reissues are American made. (I don't know if you care or not.)
I don't think Damon wipes his face enough. Those whoppers are runny though.
I've been to that Burger King in Guildford! :D
And Andertons FTW :)
Heard these lack clean headroom when playing with a drummer.
Found one for 750 obo used
I sat in the same place in that burger king today!!!
how many companies does fender make products for? I know there is quite a few
nice strap, chappers!
they have burger kings in the UK? THATS BADASS
1.24 what song is thaat?
Think it's a Baja Tele. Killer guitar. I have one and it's my favorite, and I mostly play sludge.
EwokEnsemble it’s a Fender Deluxe Tele. Notice the noiseless pickups and coil tap
what kind of tele
what song do you play at 1:13?
Fuck me this was 10 years ago? Jesus christ I remember kicking back playing skate 2 watching these vids... Time is flying by. 10 bloody years...
Whatever happened to the Monkeyfest we were planning that was cancelled in 2012 (Irrc!)
Is this amp a deluxe reverb with added stuff or an amp pretending to be a deluxe and only a deluxe gives you those deluxe tones?
what tele is that blonde one.
what is the name of the song 1:13?
The 5150's are only being ghost-built by Fender, they are released under the EVH brand name, so maybe they don't count?
whats the song called at 1:24
Scar tissue by RHCP.
I CAME
@theoldmacarooni8 HELLS YEA!
0:50 I hate when people do that for like 20 seconds long -_-

Hey Rambo, the 1980's called. He said to tell you he's still trying to get a record deal for his unknown hair band, and needs his fake ammo belt decoration back for a gig in his best friend's basement. lol
