  • Proof of concept of sailing The First Kyosho SEAWIND with a Genoa Sail COMPLETED.
    First sail of the SEAWIND after switching the jib sail to genoa sail involved removing the 1/4 Scale servo that drove both the main and jib sail as well as patch up the electronics tray where it use to sit in.
    For the sail material I used a rip stop nylon fabric which performed well until the rain and the lake water got it wet where it sagged on some areas as you will see on the video. I have to find someone with talent in sail making or at the least better material.
    The 2 Kingmax SW22HV 7 Turn servos did just fine as well as the sheet line guide tube keeping the lines taught and tangle free.
    Next on test is to remove the jib boom the current jib sail configuration and see if it could be used a high wind genoa sail. 20221014 👍👊😎

    This would be great on a custom build 12m style (old americas cup class) rc boat. It would make it very authentic as they had huge overlapping genoas.

    Well done! It is not easy to get a genoa to come about without snagging and yours works perfectly!

    Wow, Jun that Genoa is awesome !. . didn't think it was possible to fly such a big foresail but I can see that the sheet control system works really good and of course; the Seawind is an awesome craft. Cheers Brother - George Persaud

    I used drafting maylar sails on my rc sail boats.
    They never get stretched out, ripe or wet.

    It appears that the genoa leach is too long, and can't be pulled tight enough to stop fluttering. The sheet is pulling aft and not down enough. Great work.

      Thanks. It’s the first try. I have since replaced that and have made a better set up that I can actually let is loose or pull it down.

    New Subber... Great concept bro. How's it doing these days? Plus who's the wannabe in the comments Mr Motor mouth, or should I say Servo Sam !
    I've been wanting a Kyosho 1m for awhile as I sail 1m Laser class and looking for a 1m that's also utilising a foresail. How do they shape up against a DF95 or say the Focus V 3.0 ( I have a Focus V 3.0 but its been in its box for nearly a year since I bought it.

      Thanks for the sub

      It can hold its own even with its heavier weight. The DF95 will surely win though if the wind starts to pick because of its lighter weight and slimmer body profile.

      @@01VIPER27 The Seawind appeals to me over the DF95 in the aesthetics side of things... I can tell you really like the Imoca class boats in full scale...Wouldn't it be fantastic to have an Imoca 60 in a 1m variant...That'd be insane

      @@Top-Jimmy I only know two guys succesful with Imoca scale boats. One is P-E Reg very successful, Thomas Norton, but has not posted lately, and an Aussie man on mezzenger with a very fast Imoca foiler but don't post on YT. Those are the only 3 I know.

    this is not real genoa

      @edoardolivolsi4759 Its amazing you say my design is not a genoa sail yet your set up is exactly like my setup. If you really think that it is not then that makes yours genoa setup even much less than my setup. Even your genoa sail is way much smaller than mine. Have a great day buddy.

      @@01VIPER27 I'm not referring to the dimensions but to the sheets that aren't independent and the wide sails don't open the sail... how many engines do you have for the genoa?

    • @01VIPER27
      @01VIPER27  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edoardolivolsi4759 You should do your research on people’s model before you comment. You can look at my build process. By the way, the engines you are referring to are called SERVOS. One cannot have a genoa sheeting line in an rc sailboat if you have the main sail tied to it. Which means it must have one on its own and another for the main sail. Of course you also need a 3 servo for the rudder if you didn’t know it. By the way. Your build looks like a monstrosity with all the aluminum and opening on the deck. You must get a lot of water in that boat of yours. Yes the genoa sail is a little big but that been already replaced. Look at my build and you will see how much better my work is compared to yours.

      @edoardolivolsi4759 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@01VIPER27 I probably didn't explain myself well, for real control of the genoa the sheets must be independent of each other, therefore a servo is needed that controls a motor for each sheet, so that being independent, in sailing from the beam to the garden
      may both be released; if you have only one servo with a single sheet circuit not even abeam can work properly because if you loosen the leeward sheet the upwind one draws the clew to the center of the boat and therefore it will never be opened properly. I have mounted a servo and a motor for each sheet and I can adjust the clew to any position without interference; the servo reverses the motor and the motor rotates back and forth and controls its own sheet.

      @@edoardolivolsi4759 1 Read the video description if you do not want to research my build. 2 Not only did you not do the research but it seems you did not even read my reply to you. 3 Perhaps you should put your glasses on so can see the answers to your question. 4 Your boat still looks like a montrosity.🤦‍♂
