  • First sail of the SEAWIND at Lakefront Promenade testing the ATSKO waterproofing agent on the year old rip stop nylon of the kite material which faired better than the first material I used . Unfortunately, the ATSKO waterproofing agent did not prevent the rip stop nylon from absorbing moisture. The only good thing about this material is that it does shrink back to its original form when the boat is out of water and does not show any stretch marks at all.
Having said the above, this will be the last run with this genoa sail as I have already started cutting a new one that is as tall as the main sail which means a bigger surface area which would translates to a moving boat even when the wind is almost dead still. I will be using the same material but I have cut across the grain of the material rather than along the grain in hopes to see less stretching of the material. I will also be using a different water proofing agent on the new genoa sail.
Still on the search for some non-hygroscopic material for the next suit of sails. 20230528👍👊😎🇵🇭

I would love to see this setup in 10 - 15 kts I reckon you're onto something mate.
Are you using Ripstop Nylon for your sails brother?
While I was watching this, It hit me that I might try a symmetrical Code 0 with the bottom seam being 3/4 the LOA of the boat. These videos have got me thinking.. Thank you friend, MQ - Australia

It’s is rip stop nylon. I just wish it were water proof. Even spraying and soaking it down with waterproofing agent did not last but yes I have a ton of fun with it. Please be sure to tag me when you get yours done.
