Spring Bear Hunting | A Montana Bear Hunt

  • Snowmelt and green grass is a sign of spring, and with spring comes bear hunting here in Montana. This was my first year hunting spring bear and I couldn't have asked for it to go any differently. Tagging out on a beautiful old color phase bear was great but the experiences I had throughout the season really have helped me become a better hunter overall. Now it's time to start digging into all this delicious bear meat!
    Special thanks to Chloe and Branden for helping me out this season!

    Ill give you a tip on video editing. Most hunters ask for what caliber, weight of bullet, brand and style of bullet. Randy Newberg learned this lesson after a few thousand people kept asking him in every episode, so he posts it right before the shot. When you get bigger and more people start watching you this will become one of your most asked questions. Enjoyed the hunt. Subbed.

    • @FireMountain
      @FireMountain  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching and subscribing! I know Randy and his crew quite well. I spent over a year working out of his office helping them build a new TH-cam channel for new hunters, called Hunters Connect.

      Bear shots are supposed to be way further back than a deer's or elk's. That was almost perfect shot placement on a bear.

  • @Maverickz77
    @Maverickz77 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m an avid hunter as much as the next person but your shot placement wasn’t the most ethical. Seems to look like you hit mid to back section, if so please work on those shots for a more humane kill. Overall nice bear congrats!

    • @FireMountain
      @FireMountain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      vGrizz 2K yeah I agree, I was not happy with were my shot landed. I’m really confident out to that range so I’m not sure what happened there. Only thing to do is keep practicing. Thanks!

    • @aosiecki16
      @aosiecki16 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a completely stupid comment. There was nothing unethical about it. He didn't hit where he was aiming. It happens. Get a clue.

    • @kenmcfetridge4411
      @kenmcfetridge4411 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not unethical. Things don’t always go as planned. He forgot to mention it was a 380 yard shot With the best intentions and a great outcome.

    • @paulhomsy2751
      @paulhomsy2751 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't a great shot overall but far from "unethical". He had the right elevation and hit too far back. It happens at that range. Not all shots are perfect...

    • @NoLimits-15
      @NoLimits-15 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This shot actually wasn’t too bad. The anatomy in a bear is much different than elk/deer. With bear you want to hit them mid body, instead of behind the shoulder. I always go for center punching the body on all bear.

    • @FireMountain
      @FireMountain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Gary! I hunt because I really enjoy eating wild and free range meat, regardless of the species. I don't find satisfaction in killing, but I do find satisfaction in the entire process of seeking adventure and providing food for my family and friends.

    • @jimmygordon5045
      @jimmygordon5045 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do not like hunting videos, do not watch them. It was no secret what it was about. Since you knew what it was about and chose to watch it anyway, you obviously are interested in learning to hunt. Let me know i will take you hunting. If you are making comments to get hunters on your side you are not very intelligent. If you love animals so much stop eating all their food. More animals were killed planting and harvesting the soy you eat than this hunter has shot but hey whatever makes you feel better about yourself !
