This place is exactly why I fell in love with the mountains. Robert Redford in the 70's played the role in Jeremiah Johnson. I was raised in the city in an apartment complex. When I was able, I traveled to any mountain that I could. Finally, when I married my wife Kathy, we spent every moment that we could get in the Great Smokey Mountains and the Cherokee area. I was never drawn to the ocean. In the mountains, we found peace and solitude. A chance to look, explore and reflect on our lives. It is so quiet from all noises of the city and people. I can see the forest covered in wildlife everywhere. Native Americans going on hunting parties or maybe scouting. In these areas, the Natives lived in Longhouses for several generations.
